Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

It got really dark, scary thunderstorm sky here but we got nothing. It's brightening up here now. We're supposed to get hit around 5 tonight though. Should be an excellent commute home.

I don't pay attention to hail until its at least as big as a golf ball. They were showing some baseball sized hail on the news a couple weeks ago, don't remember where that fell, between here and St, Clooud, I believe.

Melon-size hail fell in Oklahoma a few days ago.

87 degrees, stiffling heat/humidity and Lil decides to run 4 miles (yesterday- humid 78 degrees was too hot ) He came in, took his shirt off and lay on the hardwood floor. He is now upstairs showering and there is a sweat angel on my living room floor. Yick. I wouldn't trade him in for anything but....

You'd end up with a brown stripe up your back. And not from the mud on the street.

Just watched the bike link from Shot- you have to be nuts!

It looks like a video game.

Guess I'm going to be finally bringing home the GF sometime this weekend to meet my parents. Should go over well I hope....

You want crazy? Have a second look at the beginning of the video. I looked at it a second time and saw something I missed on the first viewing.

The rider is wearing a helmet mounted camera which affords the viewer a good look at the course being ridden. Once you access the link and hit the play icon, immediately move your cursor to the pause button. Two seconds and three seconds into the film the rider looks straight down. At this point you can see his left arm and left leg. The camera reveals that the rider traversed this course while wearing a gray flannel, pinstripe suit. Have a look for yourselves.

I'm guessing he also wore a button down shirt and tie to complete his "look."

Yuck - though tcbg and I probably could have done the same thing and we went running at 6:30am. It's just miserable out, I wish it would rain to break the humidity. I finished my run this morning and was soaked through.

Just stopping in to say hi. Things are working out pretty well at the new job (other than the abysmal pay). Started my sociology class (Sociology of the Family) last week and got into the Psychology class that I need to take before I start my clinical nursing stuff in the fall. Right now, I'm working on getting my eye exam (with colorblindness test) and having titers drawn for all my vaccines (which is EXPENSIVE!!!  ). Of course the timing with my loans works out that I won't have the money to pay for these tests until after their due to the nursing department. :( Blech.

Otherwise, can't complain. Happy overall. :)

Try the local health department for the titers. Also see if anyone at the Riv can do the colorblind thing. There are a bunch of NPs there teaching.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

what is a titer? besides the Commies response:D

It is a test for level of antibodies in the body. If you had chicken pox you would have a positive titer for antibodies. They test for IgG when they are testing for immunity (IgGone) which shows no active response (IgM- IgiMmediate shows that). When you go in to healthcare they frequently ask for proof of immunization or titers for measles, mumps, german measles. Where ewe is going they are really paranoid if I recall and ask for titers of everything including for Varicella (chickenpox). PIA and they take some time to return after being sent out. In Mass they get sent to a State lab.
