Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

The girl that I'm all but officially with is having a hell of a time with them as well :( We really need a good rain over this way to get rid of the pollen. Luckily, I don't have much of an issue with allergies.
As long as she isn't allergic to latex, you're fine.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

just got to chicago, and it ends up I am back on my original flight. so 30 minute layover, and my bag was going on this flight all along most likely, so win-win. I'll be in houston around noon central time. bring on the 80's and 90's

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

The generic definition is drinking to get drunk in a short period of time. Anything that gets you, individually, drunk quickly is binging. Have to say I have been biting my tongue about the drinking constantly. I get that college is a time of being wild but it makes me nervous. Have more than a few alcoholics in my family, including one who died freezing to death because he couldn't stay sober long enough to get in a shelter. :(

You truly are nocturnal

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! wobbly wednesday

Then, by that definition, 1 1/2 drinks is binge drinking for me these days.
I understand where you're coming from with the concern, though.

Then don't insult my profession by comparing it to what you can get at some seedy oriental health spa then. I didn't spend a year learning to improve my sense of touch to the point to where I can fell a human hair thru 25 pages of phone book and deep tissue techniques like releasing your psoas, just to be compared to some hooker with carpel tunnel syndrome.

Uh, no offense, but welcome to USCHO. Your profession is going to be insulted constantly by those who believe what they do > what you do. Truth be told, the majority will respect what you do and recognize the training involved and will just be cracking jokes, because that's just the board culture. There is always going to be that one mouthy *ker who will have to get the snarky comment or insult in, though, who isn't just playing around. Take it from someone who has had her fair share of hissy fits over this topic: it's best just to buck up and ignore it, and learn that 75% of the time someone is just kidding (and you'll know which posters are and which ones aren't), because nothing is going to make it stop.

mav: I don't really want them to get pulled... atleast not at this point. I have too much going on before I move to houston to be out of commission for even just a couple days.

Good call. I was doing workouts two days after, so it's not as bad as it seems as long as you don't get a dry socket..heard those are an absolute *****.:p

Mornin' All! It's very muggy here, I want it to storm just so it's not so humid.:p Should be pretty good golf weather though, storms tonight. Thunderstorms at night are AWESOME!:)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

If "binge drinking" is drinking to get drunk quickly, then technically drinking a couple beers after a long run / vigorous exercise is binge drinking as that can make people drunk quickly.

And if your profession is the only thing people make fun of on the board, you should be thankful. :p

As far as wisdom teeth go, you're basically normal in a day or two - although your jaw might be sore for a week or two and your diet will be impacted for that reason (plus you'll be on major pain killers for at least a few days of the vicodin variety). Of course, it all depends on whether or not they're impacted, what angle they grew in, etc.

Then I guess I'm binge drinking after the Fifth-Third 25K on Saturday, because I plan on having a couple beers with a massive sandwich after I cross the finish line.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

I used to have real trouble with allergies as well. A Claritin (generic brand Loratidine actually) every day has done the job for me. It won't work right away, it takes some time to build up in your system. Now I just get a slightly weird throat during the peak periods of time. (Late April, May, and October) Only thing that makes me sneeze like a doofus now is lilacs when they bloom. God I hate those things.

Three of the four for me were fine. The other one turned into a dry socket. That S. U. C. K. E. D.

My wife and I will celebrate our wedding anniversary tonight by having dinner at a high-end restaurant about which we have heard good reviews, but at which we have not eaten. After that, it's on to DCPA for the opening night pereformance of Billy Elliott. The play won several Tony Awards on Brodaway and drew rave reviews. We're looking forward to a nice time.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Mine came out at age 15, and I'm sooooo glad I had it done early. Hopefully it's time for those **** things to come out man!

Brent, did you hear anything about a drunk driver driving onto some hazeltine practice greens or something of that nature? I had heard something from a few guys talking, but I don't know for sure. Just curious if you saw anything or whatnot.

http://www.startribune.com/local/west/121394469.html  not my Hazeltine!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

The bottom line on the whole "what defines a drunk" thing is knowing when you have to be responsible, and when it's OK to have a few (or several, as the case may be :p). When you can no longer be honest with yourself and meet your responsibilities to others is when you achieve "problem" status. As a young guy, I anticipate that my weekends will be far less booze-related as I age, get married, etc.

hp1015, I think we all know you're enjoying your last few weeks of freedom, and certainly won't be drinking onboard the boat. :)

Congratulations and enjoy! I do have to warn you that I was underwhelmed by Billy Elliot, but that may be my personal taste as it has certainly had big runs everywhere.

The way I look at it: As long as my drinking and having fun doesn't interfere with my ability to do my job(I very rarely drink on work nights) or any other parts of my life, and I have the money to be able to afford it, I'm fine. I enjoy going out and drinking and having a good time, but if there is a weekend like last weekend where I don't drink anything and I don't have an itch for a drink, I see no reason to change what I'm doing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Question to hp1015, if you're running barges up and down the Big River, will you end up spending some nights in St. Paul? Or do you get up here, and turn around right away and head back down south?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Monster- just back from my massage which keeps my neck from incapacitating me. Yay massage!

Should have qualified what I said about the drinking thing- not a big deal if it is once in awhile. The medical worry is when it interferes with life, if it is frequent enough to be more often than not or enough to cause black out, passing out or puking.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Well, the good news regarding the wisdom teeth is they seem to be a little better today, little bit less pain and whatnot. hopefully I'm past the brunt of it.

I won't be able to drink on the boat, but could go ashore to a bar or something. the coast guard mandate is .04 bac, not .08, so I can't get too crazy anyways.

As for st. paul, I really don't know yet. I suppose its possible we could be unloading/loading there for a period of time, but I would be staying aboard the vessel. this company virtually goes everywhere there is a river in the midwest.

And I have a profession, or did before I retired, which can't be talked about in tLodge. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Evening, Lodge. Sauteed whitefish with oranges and brown butter, served with brown rice for dinner. Now to attempt my culinary math homework...
