Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Medical studies (yes, there are many conflicting studies) say a drink a day helps prevent heart attacks (thins the blood). Used to be just wine, but obviously they figured out it should include all alcohol. Of course, one drink=one glass of wine=one shot of liquor (mixed or not)=one beer.

So, it just depends if he's "binge" drinking, of which THOSE standards I used to laugh at (it WAS 5 drinks in one sitting*, but they never defined "one sitting"). Now it's apparently 5 or more drinks in about 2 hours' time.

*So, NFL Sunday, I have 5 drinks while watching the early and late games. That's one sitting, about 6.5 hours. Binge drinking? When the general consensus is the average person burns off one drink per hour? Let's get our standards straightened out, mmmkay? ;)

Well, most studies use a really low threshold for binging... but I doubt he's taking just one per day. Of course I'm one to talk... I just went out and got straight out drunk... epically tough day at work...

having to fend off a guy who doesn't know much trying to tell me what I should be doing and also trying to fend off an top level expert in my field at the same meeting is not fun. Bottom line is both of them are wrong to varying degrees... but not something that needs to be occurring when methodology needs to be finalized. Ugh... I need to drink again... I can't wait until I'm done with this.

Ya, most of the time, it's only been 6-8 drinks in a night (3-4 hours). I've had a handful of binge nights, but it's not the norm for sure. I generally consider "binge" drinking to be 3-4 an hour or so. It's so subjective though based on each person.

I doubt he is talking about that either. But when one says they have one nightcap every day, there are some who shriek "ALCOHOLIC!" and those people are morons, IMO.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

I took AP Art History, AP Calculus, and AP US Government & Politics. They just this year introduced the AP US History class here, or I would've easily taken that. All in all I suspect I did well, I was pretty confident after the test!

Evening Everybody. All the TC folks are okay? I know there was some crazy weather up there! (minus you, Brent.:p)

**** FREAKING ALLERGIES! I'm so sick of itchy eyes.

It literally depended on the suburb. JF had some decent sized hail, my bro (St Michael) had some hail, but not too bad, I just got rain although JUST to the east and north of me got decent hail and just south a wall cloud/possible funnel cloud was reported. Goldy got some decent hail, too. Target Field was covered in hail, ranging from pebble to golf ball size (maybe larger, depends on who you ask).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

The girl that I'm all but officially with is having a hell of a time with them as well :( We really need a good rain over this way to get rid of the pollen. Luckily, I don't have much of an issue with allergies.
It's just nuts this time of year. I might go see a doctor to get perscribed for meds. I've been trying to avoid it, but this is just miserable.

Sounds like a bit of an interesting night. Sounded to me like the worst of it went north metro? (Elk River, St. Francis, etc.)

While I don't get the allergy issues, I've been dealing with wisdom tooth movement the past week. It was almost all I could do to eat a sub from subway tonight for dinner. Last I knew, they were coming in fine direction wise, just had to wait for them to move. Well, here we are. Luckily I've got a dentist appt next Tues, get them looked at then.

As usual, it split north/south. Elk River got crapped on (and surrounding areas) and west of Lakeville got crapped on.

Mine came out at age 15, and I'm sooooo glad I had it done early. Hopefully it's time for those **** things to come out man!

Brent, did you hear anything about a drunk driver driving onto some hazeltine practice greens or something of that nature? I had heard something from a few guys talking, but I don't know for sure. Just curious if you saw anything or whatnot.

Haven't heard anything like that. Haven't checked the news sites after the storm passed, though.

Not talking about a massage, bud.

Then don't insult my profession by comparing it to what you can get at some seedy oriental health spa then. I didn't spend a year learning to improve my sense of touch to the point to where I can fell a human hair thru 25 pages of phone book and deep tissue techniques like releasing your psoas, just to be compared to some hooker with carpel tunnel syndrome.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

there is no such thing as an easy flight, is there?

delayed out of syracuse ny. flight was supposed to arrive 17 minutes before my connection, yet they already rebooked me. new flight doesn't leave until 12 hours later than the original flight. hope o'hare has some good food and whatnot. gonna be a **** long day.

mav: I don't really want them to get pulled... atleast not at this point. I have too much going on before I move to houston to be out of commission for even just a couple days.

The generic definition is drinking to get drunk in a short period of time. Anything that gets you, individually, drunk quickly is binging. Have to say I have been biting my tongue about the drinking constantly. I get that college is a time of being wild but it makes me nervous. Have more than a few alcoholics in my family, including one who died freezing to death because he couldn't stay sober long enough to get in a shelter. :(

Yawn! Is it morning yet?

Going to start a bike ride in about an hour. :)
You truly are nocturnal

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! wobbly wednesday

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Morning!

Another hot one on tap today for the TC.

please tell me you're going to stop drinking... drinking for three straight weeks seems like a highway to becoming an alcoholic.
Alcoholics go to meetings.

Oh and what an absolute waste of time by our state. Really, this is the important pressing issue we need to get added to the state constitution? Who cares? Honestly?

Where are the idiots who complain about stadium funding bills and presidents who talk about the BCS as wastes of time when this is going on?

Still not getting what I was talking about...

We didn't even get any strong wind. Just thunder, rain and a little hail for a few minutes. Pizzer is it was enough to cancel the kid soccer game. The C1 (top level here) team got their game in ahead of us (3-1 win over Northfield) but had to cut it about 10 minutes short when the boomers started. My kid had played with a bunch of those kids in the past so it was good to catch up with the parents while the refs debated calling the games. Sat around the parking lot for 30 minutes while we waited to see if it blew over, finally called it before any rain fell, but still hearing thunder and seeing lightening flashes.
