Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?
Well, most studies use a really low threshold for binging... but I doubt he's taking just one per day. Of course I'm one to talk... I just went out and got straight out drunk... epically tough day at work...
having to fend off a guy who doesn't know much trying to tell me what I should be doing and also trying to fend off an top level expert in my field at the same meeting is not fun. Bottom line is both of them are wrong to varying degrees... but not something that needs to be occurring when methodology needs to be finalized. Ugh... I need to drink again... I can't wait until I'm done with this.
Medical studies (yes, there are many conflicting studies) say a drink a day helps prevent heart attacks (thins the blood). Used to be just wine, but obviously they figured out it should include all alcohol. Of course, one drink=one glass of wine=one shot of liquor (mixed or not)=one beer.
So, it just depends if he's "binge" drinking, of which THOSE standards I used to laugh at (it WAS 5 drinks in one sitting*, but they never defined "one sitting"). Now it's apparently 5 or more drinks in about 2 hours' time.
*So, NFL Sunday, I have 5 drinks while watching the early and late games. That's one sitting, about 6.5 hours. Binge drinking? When the general consensus is the average person burns off one drink per hour? Let's get our standards straightened out, mmmkay?![]()
