Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #13^2: Independence!

It was a good weekend.

My golf game is a little more on track that it was after my last round. Still not good, but it should be passable for the 4-man scramble I'm in later this month.

Did some more trap shooting. Shot something like 125 shells over the weekend. At one point I went through 2 boxes (50 shells), and only let 2 clays hit the ground. (41 on one shot, 7 on 2 shots, and 2 misses) It was an influential run of trap shooting.

Nice.

Try to duplicate with a .22 and then we will talk. :p

MassPike bumper cars, yak feasts, voluntary tasings -- this place is CRAZY!
You'll note that it's the kid from the South that volunteered for a tasing.

I just get off the bus this morning, and I'm waiting for the light to change so I can walk across the street. As usual, I'm not paying attention to much of anything after the light changes and I start walking, then I notice this really good looking woman some 40-50 feet away and she starts waving at me. Of course, after first glance I assume she's waving to someone else, given all history to corroborate such things. Then I realize it's a friend of mine, a former coworker, and she's looking better than ever, and a blouse with a neckline to give a guy an idea or two. Too bad she's a lesbian. Though, to be fair, I'd have just as much as a shot with her if she were straight as I do with her being a lesbian. So I have that to buoy my spirits today. Man, did she look good.

Good job. Hey, we went by your homestead yesterday. Looks like your family had trouble getting the corn in with the wet fields too. Sorry.

We got it all in, some of it was just late. I think some of the neighbors are much worse off than we are. From what I've heard, we'll be ok with this crop, it will just probably come in pretty wet, so we'll be stuck running the dryer a whole bunch.

This could be a bad afternoon...
The trenching shovel offers a more nimble, maneuverable touch than a standard snow or spade shovel. It could prove useful if it's a multi-issue day.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #13^2: Independence!

So, apparently last Fri was insanely busy (relative to how many people we actually had working). They got out over an hour late, and barely made one of the shipper's deadlines.

Fast forward to today...well, I took the afternoon off, it was that dead, and didn't want to head to the hot/humid main building (no A/C). When I left, they had about 20 minutes worth of work to do at the main building, and NOTHING at the offsite (continuously incoming lines, but the rolling total was THAT low). Usually we're at about 2 hours' worth at this time of day.

Trying to troubleshoot some engine problems on a startup......in Australia. It makes it difficult when the engineer on site is on the other side of the world...

Good evening Lodge.

Another fantastic day at the lake. Sounds crazy but maybe tomorrow will be a bit rainy as I/we need a break from playing in the sun and water. :)

Some heavy stuff is hitting western North Dakota right now. Really heavy stuff, looking at the radar.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #13^2: Independence!

I just ordered a laptop. I'm not generally a laptop fan, but I figure that I'm going to get a docking station some time here to help alleviate that issue. The PC I'm using right now seems to have developed a few bugs that I can't solve, along with a nasty cable glitch that's impacted the DVD drive that I can't solve as well (replaced cables and drive to no avail along with driver updates). I'm just glad it's something relatively superficial that's causing this one to lose its value to me and not a HDD or motherboard crash as I still have information I need to transfer to my external HDD.

You'll be a convert. I wasn't a fan of laptops until I got one.

I got a big one, 17.3". I need a full keyboard, and I have wide shoulders. I've had a couple laptops in the past, but they were both smaller and caused aches in my joints as I typed.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #13^2: Independence!

Oh, and a neat trick with many laptops (and some desktops): You can change the orientation of the screen's display by using Ctrl+Alt+(arrow keys), Up for normal, Down for upside down, Left and Right for 90 degree swings. It's dependent upon the graphics card in your computer, and it's fun to see people struggle with this if they walk away from their work PC without locking it and aren't familiar with it. One guy in my department spent over 30 minutes trying to read his monitor upside down while he Googled the answer; his head was tilt sideways as he laid his monitor on its side. Good times. :)

Mine's about 17" too. Took me quite a while to type without correcting every other word. Wasn't used to the flat keyboard. Of course, now I can't type on a normal PC. :o
