I'll throw a kitten on the barbie for you guys in the Lower 48.

RalphPa:
The worst storms can be those types of storms. If it hovers around 32 degrees, you get that nice layer of ice before the temp drops and snow gets compacted on the ice. Roads are HORRIBLE then, and I don't care who you are, you're gonna slide a little. The non-idiot drivers will stay on the roads, while many others hit the ditch, at best.

Totally forgot to mention this to you, Twitch. I think you'll appreciate it.
So, the offsite location to my work is in a light industrial park, where the roads aren't exactly maintained in winter. A couple storms ago, I was driving out of there, towards the main road. Doing about 15-20mph, braked to stop about 50 feet from the intersection. Ooops, slush/very icy. Not gonna stop in time. I let off the brake, and I steered towards the snowbank, clipped my right front tire on the snow, did a 180, and gently laid to rest with both my left tires snug against the snowbank about 10 feet from the intersection. All on purpose. It was beautiful. Yep, I know me my vehicle and what it can do.![]()
Weather Channel is saying 2-4 tonight, 2-4 tomorrow, and then 10-15 tomorrow night. If I can add correctly, that puts us at 14-23". I'm guessing we get 8-12".
EDIT: And looking at the map, it's almost here.
This makes me sad that the JK's have ABS.
The 2012 Wrangler is going to have the new Pentastar V6 as well. They're claiming 280-290 HP, more torque, and better fuel economy. I'm seriously considering a trade-in. The weakest part of the JK is the engine and powertrain (it's the same weaksauce V6 that Chrysler uses in their minivans.)
Ew. Although, I don't know exactly what I have in mine, other than it's a 6-cyl ('99 4.0 Sport). It's zippy, though. Have no probs doing 75mph on the highways (where legal; honestly, I don't really speed, not worth the ticket).
Sounds yummy!Spicy sausage, tomato, zuchini, mushrooms and a blend of three cheeses.
Based on the forecast, looks like my area's going to get the lake effect without all the snow. Forecast calls for a lot of blowing snow, but nothing more than 4" over the next couple days.How's the lake effect for you? I would think that's a major factor in this storm.
I've got 33's on my '89 YJ and I have no problem getting to 80. But then, I have a better engine than the both of ya, I have the 4.2L I6.That's the old inline 6. Designed by AMC back when they still controlled Jeep. It's a horse (ask BPH about his Cherokee which has one.) It's the main reason I wanted an '06 or earlier.
I beefed up the tires, so it takes an act of God to get my JK to hit 65.
And that '99 is referred to as a TJ.
CJ = post-WW2 until '86
YJ = '87-'96
TJ = '97-'06
JK = '07-present
You'd better define "well south of Toledo", otherwise, eff you!just as long as all of that ice stays well south of Toledo, we'll be fine here Hammer. Not really believeing its going to be that bad, its a light snow that should be easy to plow, just drifting a lot. But thats mostly going to be more of a problem on the back roads anyways. Still, I'm bringing a bag of clothes with me tomorrow for work, just in case.

I'd like all snow, please. From what I've heard, we might be looking at the mix; not looking forward to ice.
I had to stop by the local supermart establishment last night to pick up my drugs and a couple of grocery type items - many of the shelves were picked clean. Crazy...
