Finally followed through and made a hotel reservation for Vegas in July. Sure it will be warm, but thats when I want to go! Decided on Treasure Island as its fairly centrally located and the rate wasn't that bad.

I even asked for 2 beds in case I find someone else who wants to go.

Yale has to be overrated if even RPI beat them. ;) As for women, I know nothing about Cornell.

They didn't shut down the city but people were driving so **** slow they might as well have.

I always want to go to Vegas. :D

No traffic when I come to work. So I didn't notice. :D

Really? It wasn't bad at all when I came in - left about 6:50 and got in at 7:20, about 10 minutes longer than normal. After the dire warnings on the morning TV and radio, I feared it would be much worse.

My 20 minute drive took about an hour.

'Morning, kids. Does anyone else here think a "Winter Weather Advisory" is the stupidest weather warning out there? It's January. All the weather we're going to have is winter weather, geniuses. Regardless, we have one of those up here in Daloot this morning.

The weather terrorists here love to hand out advisories like DL hands out candy to junior high schoolers. Basically if it snows, looks like it's going to snow, or people want it to snow, boom! Weather advisory issued.

It's the NWS' way of alerting the public to the fact that travel will be hazardous. Yes, common sense should tell you to slow down if there's snow on the road, but we know how little of that exists these days in the general population, so a government agency has to tell us to do it.

Speaking of which, traffic was really going slow this morning - I averaged 30mph on the entire trip home (all highway pretty much).

That makes more sense than the idiots around here who don't adjust their speed at all.

The TI is not centrally located, it's at the north end of the strip. That said, I've stayed there and liked it.

I guess this is that time of the year when I really hate having electric heat. 3100kWh, are you ****ing kidding me? I don't use much electricity other than heat and TV, and I turn down the heat to 50 degrees when I'm gone for work for more than a day or 2. Crazy.

I don't get it, they talk about killing gophers, and working with cattle is weird or something. To me, that is exactly how I grew up. On that same note, I found out when I was visiting home this past weekend that I had a new calf during the week it was -20 degrees. She survived the cold and even kept her ears, that should be a strong calf.

Patiently awaiting the already-dubbed "Groundhog Day Storm". :rolleyes: They're calling for 10-15 inches, but I'll believe it when it starts piling up.
