Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

No it's not a happy Tuesday. But that was a great game.
Sat next to some folks who knew you last week at the UML game. Kept saying to them that you guys needed to win. Almost. I should have rooted for BC. Every team I root for loses. :(

In that case, can you root for: North Dakota, Yale, Boston College, Boston Univ., Michigan, Wisconsin, St. Cloud State, and Maine? :D

There's a line?

Morning Lodge. Had a row with the kid this AM over homework. or lack thereof. Either he hates me or I hate him, according to him right now. Shoulda done it last year.

Well, not in my eyes, but you know how that goes.....

Morning Lodge. taking a sick day from student teaching. Who knew staying up until 2 am, drinking this weekend and having an observation would make a cold worse!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Ouch.

Your week is likely going better than it is for two members of the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs played Calgary last night and lost 9-1. Calgary scored eight even strength goals and one power play goal. Avs' goalie Peter Budaj started the game. He was pulled twice.

Defenseman John-Michael Liles was benched in the team's game against Nashville over the weekend, but was back in the lineup last night. He was a minus six for the game, meaning he was on the ice for six of the eight even strength goals scored by the Flames.

Gorgeous morning here in Denver as the city begins what the weather guessers are saying will be a three or four day stretch of temps hitting the high fifties to mid sixties. :)

You could threaten to put to dog to sleep, too.

(I said threaten.)

Good morning, Lodge!

No dog, just parakeets. He doesn't get to do any recreational reading until homework is done and it has been shown to me. I threatened all other recreational activities being suspended until grades come up and he starts tracking things better (he can keep playing hockey 'cause he made a commitment to the team). The wife and I have tried getting him to be more independent and responsible and that has failed. Now I'm tracking and checking everything.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

I booked my trip for Final 5 week, since it couldn't be moved like we had hoped. Apparently like 30 dudes from South America already had trips booked for that week, oh well. The good news is, Friday was left open for travel and there was a flight leaving Lubbock, TX at 6AM, so I can get back to Minneapolis in time for both games on Friday. I don't feel too bad about only missing the Thursday games, I'll be around for the majority of the fun.

Right now I'm just sitting in a test cell, waiting for someone to fix the calibration that they sent me. I've been trying to get this engine running for a day now, while they have been insisting that the calibration is identical to previous one we were running. Finally they listened to me and took a closer look at the cal and found problems, so now I'm waiting for them to fix their problems. So much fun.

Has anyone been reading the "Cronin must Go" thread? Hokydad is making sense!?!?!?!

The world needs ditchdiggers too, T! :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Did I mention that one of the refs our peewee team had this past weekend was Jack Carlson, the forgotten Hanson brother? Second time he's worked one of our games. I think he called one penalty to 7 for the other ref.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Which means he'll be a perfect CCHA ref some day...

I recall this. Everything became a priviledge. He can go to hockey but he has to pay for the ride. He promised the team and you didn't. Changing after the game can be at home. Take off the top stuff put on your coat. No need to socialize. (I was pretty pizzed at one point). We also started to put everything on the calendar and we started the week at breakfast talking about what was due and when it was to be done.

Sigh. I think they need to give the parents support groups for homework stuff.
