My 50" plasma on average will run about 300 watts. Let's say it's on four hours a day, every day. That's about $2.70 a month in energy consumption. Let's assume an LED runs about 150 watts. That's a savings of about $1.30 a month. Energy costs could go up from about $0.08/kWh to $0.40/kWh and you're still looking at a few bucks a month. Energy savings are hardly worth mentioning.

I'm spending more today keeping my apartment between 68 and 75 degrees (brewing the "Mr. Beer")... its 44 degrees outside... if my windows had their way it'd get up to 81 in here today.

Good morning from sun splashed, but chilly, Denver. Great breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and homemade cornbread. Now it's off to the gym for a cardio workout before settling in for the game this afternoon. Have a good day folks.;)

Greetings from the "we got one more point than I anticipated" hockey bar.

How is the glare/reflection? My parents have a Plasma & I noticed they get a lot of glare/reflection on theirs and this is one of the reasons I went with an LCD over plasma - our family room has several windows and this doesn't seem to be a problem my LCD. If we had a darker room I probably would have gone with plasma....really like the picture.

I have a 42" Panasonic Viera plasma. I have no glare problems of any kind. I'm very happy with my plasma.

As long as you don't place it directly across from an open window, you'll be fine. I've never had a glare problem with my TV.

One other thing to note about plasmas: Do NOT place the screen in direct sunlight. This can damage the phosphors. It's not likely, but just a good rule of thumb.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

I don't get hangovers. :p
And I'm much calmer today. I just needed to stir up a little commotion after that game last night. Here's a chocolate milk, my treat.
Why thank you, kind sir.

Acckk!!! T-minus 23 hours until I'm taking my NCETMB exam.
Good Luck MOnster!!

Lil had a game at 7:30 this evening. The men were all over the coach "like a hungry man on breakfast ham" to cancel/rebook. He didn't want to because he wanted the other coach to cancel. The men parents on LIl's team blinked first. Game cx. Now we can watch the Stupid Bowl after all. Can I tivo just the commercials?

Our peewees have ice time at 6:30 today. Another team owed us a return scrimmage on their ice and one time they offered us was at 11 Am today. We went with the scrimmage and the ice at 6:30 will go unused, unless some kids want to go skate on it. We beat these guys 8-1 the first time, we had 3 centers, 3 LW, 3 D and 2 G show up today, another D came later. We won 10-2. A little pond hockey for our guys.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Just got back from picking up office supplies and groceries. It would have helped had I grabbed the coupons for $10 off at Staples before I left the driveway. Trying to weave around people at the grocery store was like trying to herd cats.

So, who is more upset? You or your son? I'm not sure who wants to be the kid who didn't watch the game.

He wanted to watch football. I don't care about missing the hH game. I just don't get FB so would rather just watch the ads.

my father went to bed early for work so nobody's watching it at home.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

I only watched the game cast on espn's site. I didn't care enough about the game to go somewhere to watch it.

New tv will be delivered sometime this week (likely Tuesday or Wednesday). Went with an LCD (not LED). 60" screen ftw. :D
