Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

Wow, really? We're getting 14-20" here. Was supposed to have Movie Day tomorrow with my brother and my friend - a tradition we've had for the last 5 years or so. We may still do one movie, later Monday night, if we're not buried. I'm still at my parents' house but heading out shortly. I'm going to leave my car in the T garage across the street tonight. Given that the heaviest part of the storm is from 10pm-4am, I'm hoping the parking lot will be plowed in the morning. They'll plow out my spot if my car is not there.

Had a nice day yesterday with my family. One of my nieces for Just Dance II for the Wii. My mother and my aunt danced to Proud Mary. My sides still hurt from laughing. I thought I was capturing it all on video on my iPhone but I dd something wrong. I'm so bummed, because that was going on Facebook and couldn've gone viral!!!! It was pretty awesome.

I was just speaking to my brother, and they are expecting over a foot in NYC. Our cousin, who lives in your neck of the woods (Newton, MA), is marooned in some Caribbean Island where she went with her husband, children, and baby grandchild.

My cousin lives in NC, and he said that my wish for him came true: 5 inches of snow, and the town is shut down. :D First time he's seen snow in about 5 years (he was in the Navy, based in CA, for the last decade or so).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

So my brother, SIL and mother were do here at 11 for brunch. At 10:20 I get a text that my bro forgot something at my father's so they need to stop there, will get mum at 11 and be here a few minutes late. Brunch is now ruined in the oven. They just texted 5 minutes ago they are leaving my mothers (20 min away) to be here soon. I am beside myself. Not sure who I am more piszed at. Myself for tryng to do something nice when they never, EVER are on time (they will be late to thier own funeral) or at them because it is so dammed disrespectful to show up an hour late for a meal. It isn't like they had anything to so this AM except get their azzes out of bed and come. So far I have been up, cleared away last night's stuff, done dishes, reset the table, been to church for a few hours, made eggs, french toast, bacon, gotten everything ready. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (phew. I needed that.)

Knowing that they are chronically late, this is what you do. You serve up the meal on time, eat it, clean up, and when they finally arrive after 12, they find you sitting on the couch reading the paper/watching TV/whatever. When they ask about breakfast, you tell them that when you say 11, you mean 11 and the kitchen is now closed. They can go to friggin IHOP for breakfast if they prefer to arrive and eat on their schedule.

Go figure. When I'm not at school in NYC, snowmageddon comes through, but I get none where it SHOULD be snowing. Ah well, I've got the Sam Adams winter classics sampler and some irish hot chocolate on, along with the WJC. I guess I can't complain too much.

4 days until happy fun time. Sounds like my CO friends (who have no idea that I'm going to be there) are all begging for this Fri. If they only knew the bonus surprise that awaits...:D

Other than that, wow, holidays really wear you out. 'Night all.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 127: So This is the New Year...

Holidays don't wear me out at all. Y'all can deal with your dysfunctional families, and I can work these days and get double pay for doing less than usual. Win-win. :)

Howdy Folks
Wouldn't want to be out driving around right now, not that much snow but steady 30 mph winds is making a mess out there

High winds here too, and a lot of salt on the roads serving no purpose except for messing up my car. :p (We appear to have received 0.4 inches of snow yesterday.)

And your family doesn't have to deal with you. Win-win-MFWIN! :D

Morning Lodge. Nice ice fog last night.

Our Peewees scrimmaged a team last night (Elk River) and we only had 9 skaters available out of 15 (3 D traveling for holidays, 4 forwards out with flu). We were apologetic to the opposing coaches before the game since they drove a ways for this scrimmage, said we hoped we could give them a decent game anyway. At the end of one it was tied 1-1, but they had outshot us like 10-3 and it was in our end the whole time. I was running the clock so I could hear their coach. He was ALL over these kids. I heard him say "if you want to have fun, go play baseball, I want hockey players who will play hard all the time." He was like that the whole time on the bench. If my kid played for a guy like that I'd pull him out of hockey if he didn't quit first. It was a scrimmage between B2 teams for Parise's sake! We beat them 4-2, bet it was a fun ride home. :)

Already washed a load of dishes, cleaned spinach, picked some trash up off the floor, and still have plenty more to do.
