Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

Returned.

To the others: Still not sure which island yet. Alaska Airlines flies to Honolulu and Maui, so probably one of those.

She wants to visit beaches and maybe go on a bike tour if possible. I'd really like to try snorkeling and/or scuba diving.
Waikiki: nice for the "scenery", but very crowded, you will find peace elsewhere, stop at the Royal Hawaiian for the original Mai Tai, it's STRONG! Also, get to Duke's for Hula Pie, heaven. Snorkeling: Hanauma Bay is the place, go as early as possible to beat crowds and get high tides, bring watershoes. Bike tour: go to Maui for this and catch a sunrise on Haleakala, "the house of the sun", get on a bike ride tour down the mountain, 11K feet of descent, very popular.

She also would love to stay in an over water bungalow (the ones on sticks out in the water you always see in the travel magazines,) but I don't know how many of those there are in Hawaii.
Never saw one there, doesn't mean they don't exist, but I'm pretty sure that's a Caribbean thing.

What he said. I think the bungalow over the water is a Tahiti thing. Also, once on Maui you can take boat ride snorkeling trips. We took one that was supposed to go to a flooded volcanic crater, but is was too rough that day so we went to a different bay with more shelter. There were still quite a few folks chumming. :D I picked the green smilie for a reason.

ETA: There was just thread in the cafe with Hawaii trip suggestions. Go find that.

I've been dying for work all year, I start a job I normally wouldn't do but I needed the work so I start it, now the phone won't stop ringing and it went from nothing to what the F do I do to keep everyone happy in 1 day. Unreal, I guess I shouldn't beotch but this is ridiculous

Well, I nailed the second interview; should know by Friday if I have a new job or not.

Also, I got my second colonoscopy scheduled for the 17th. This time, I'll ignore their suggested prep and take magnesium citrate instead; I've heard it works like a charm... :( :(

Home from work. Need to make dinner. No motivation to do so. I took out spaghetti sauce from the freezer, so it should be an easy meal to make. Probably will get my *** off this couch in a little bit. It's very muggy out so I have the AC on. Waiting to cool down a bit.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

So, I got a voicemail from the FAA telling me that the next time they contact me it will be for an Academy date. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

*looks around. Pulls up a comfy chair and ottoman. Grabs a beer and book and turns up the AC*

Ah, quiet in here tonight.

Of course, the next time they contact you will be in two years, but they probably left that part out.

In other news, I need a vacation, but one where I wouldn't have to deal with the general public for the majority of it. I think I need to hit Powerball.

Ditto.

And for Twin City metro area places to eat, there are a ton.

Hubert's has a deep-fried Jucy Lucy (that's by Target Field)
The Tea House in Plymouth is supposed to be very very good (Chinese food)
Santorini's in Eden Prairie has excellent Greek food
There's a Texas Roadhouse in Coon Rapids, I think, and while a chain, still worth it.

But yes, the MUST hits are Matt's Bar (original Jucy Lucy) and Broadway Pizza (and don't you dare order anything but the thin crust; it's sort of a law).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

You forgot to mention that before they deep fry it...they wrap it in bacon. It comes with a free defibrillator...

We should make a side trip on Sat night to get one. Wouldn't be a bad idea, since I think you're the only one that has had one.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

All this food talk is reminding me that we are just 3 weeks and change from the State Fair.

Bonus that my company is doing their yearly picnic there this year. So I might actually want to attend it. When I saw that announced I thought: "Wait, you are paying me to go to the fair and stuff my face?"
