Lefties in sports like boxing/MMA are tougher to defend against, because they are less common (obviously) and righties have to change their strategy to counter the different stance.
It's not that drastic of a change in strategy; you simply rotate away from their favored side. If your opponent favors his right, you circle to your right and away from his. If he's a lefty, you rotate to your left.

I don't think it's the strategy that throws people off - it's just that as you said, they aren't used to dealing with a lefty and rotate to the wrong side and directly into the path of their stronger punches.

Makes you wonder why we haven't seen a true ambidextrous boxer/fighter, similar to a switch-hitter in baseball (where we have seen a switch throwing pitcher, although I don't think he ever made it past the minors).

It'd be fun to watch that, to see how that person changes back and forth, depending on the attacking/defending actions of the other fighter.

Reservoir Dogs, Raw Deal, and the Usual Suspects are all on right now... crap.

It's called a DVR :p

Reservoir Dogs and Usual Suspects are on again tonight. TUS at 1:30ET on IFC and RD at 10:30ET on Ovation. Godfather, Godfather II and no less than four Bond movies are on right now...in addition to a John Adams marathon on HBO.

I don't spend money on DVR, and I've seen all of said movies. I opted to watch fighting instead.

Brent, I'm guessing that when such a fighter emerges, he'll be heavily hyped on youtube and wherever - and then promptly get his *** kicked if he gets a shot in the UFC ala Kimbo Slice. :p

oh, probably the same reason that parents tried to make their left handed kid be right handed... its just not the way to be.

Oppression against us lefties never ends.

After 4 pages of links, no go on the free live streaming. Justin tv was obviously targeted by UFC, all links were "removed at the request of the copyright holders." Other sites you had to complete offers, surveys, or were dead links. :(

... or you know, you could stop being such a *'ing freeloader and pay for the privilege of watching it. :p

I'm not paying $50 or whatever for one fight in a sport that I don't care that much about.

Found one! Kinda choppy at times, but hopefully it'll get better.

Caught the end of Usual Suspects tonight; I still need to buy it on DVD.

So what's everyone's big plan for tomorrow? I'm going to throw some burgers on the grill and have a drink or two...

I'm headed to my niece's birthday tomorrow at my bro's inlaws. I'll need a drink or two.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Evening, Lodge. I have a feeling I'll be destroyed tomorrow - not even drinks-wise, just exhausted after work.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

and no one cares. ;)

I do. I like Brock.

And after a full round of getting his arse kicked, Brock wins on a......submission?! Yep. Choke out, early second round. Retains the title.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

As I mentioned, I am not a fan of the sport, but I am a fan of Brock. How the hell he won that fight is beyond me. And I think the UFC fanbase finally accepted him tonight, and I heard two sentences that I never thought I would hear from Brock:

"This isn't about me...."

"I stand before you tonight as a humbled champion..."

Good Lord, I think Brock is maturing.
