Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 113: Whutchu talkin' about, Meyer?

I started turning gray when I was in my early twenties. Just like my Mom did. My dad had a slight graying of the temples at age 51 when he passed but not nearly the amount I have at almost the same age. The good news is not much for balding on either side of the family :)

...and the hair genes (at least in terms of baldness) come from your mom's side (if your mom's dad is bald, you're f*ed.) Not sure about graying.
Actually, I would think that any traits received, whether they're related to your hair or something else, are coming from both parents and not just one side.

I'm gray in the temples and in the beard. My Dads hair was whiter than white when he was in 70s and 80s, the good news he still had hair

Yay! Dressing is off and I finally showered. Pain pump is gone too. Feeling more human, but my shoulder still looks a mess. I'm supposed to leave the strips on the incision until my office visit next week and I couldn't scrub all the pen markings, betadine, blood etc. off during the shower.

They didn't give you a nerve-block before surgery?

NMUKat knows what you're going through as she had surgery to repair her torn bicep three weeks ago.

Good Evening, Lodge!

Going out for dinner and I better be home before Burn Notice starts.

"Not like the boys" - how do you know how the boys think of 'Ewe's cupcakes? :p :D...
See below. I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday...

Do you think les is new here??

False!

I have good genetics. My dad has no gray hair and he's turning 48 this year. (actually my dad looks like he's about 30, we get mistaken for brothers regularly)
 I am older than your Dad. Where is RFAlph to put things in better perspective?
Are you sure about that? He was bald quite young, and I am not. I know that I inherited colorblindness from him.

also his gold pocket watch ;)
Ah, there he is.

If this is true for women, too (hair genes), then I'm set. My mom is 49, and only sporadically has a few grays pop up.
Though, in terms of my genetics, I'd say I got about 60% of my dad's traits and 40% of my mom's.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 113: Whutchu talkin' about, Meyer?

I'm looking for an excuse to make car bomb cupcakes.

Excuse? This almost makes me wish I could cook...

yeah, I'm replying late but i figured that's borderline NSFW due to the alcohol bit... that and I try to avoid certain terms at work. More the latter than the former.

Yay! Best wishes for a continued speedy recovery!

EDIT: Oh, it isn't until FRIDAY. Well - I'll have to get a donut then too. :o
Hell, I'll buy a doughnut too. Then I'll split it in half and make a sandwich out of it.

Evening, Lodge. It's been a boring day, but at least I took a nap and made steak, potatoes, and tried roasting carrots. Next time, I need to add honey and brown sugar...

Evening Lodge. Off to a wedding up north tomorrow morning, so I guess I should think about packing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 113: Whutchu talkin' about, Meyer?

And how long has it been north of him?

OK, both valid points. I guess, from my perspective, Traverse City isn't up north, up where I am now is "up porth". Growing up, my cousins from Jackson would always get confused when we'd talk about going up north to the UP, because we "already were up north."

you know, what's fun is when you're 100s of miles from somewhere and you mess up the directional thing... "down in New York City" or stuff along those lines... up from here in Virginia... but south from where I've been the rest of my life.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 113: Whutchu talkin' about, Meyer?

I got my dads hair, his looks, his build, his temper and pretty near everything else except for brains, not sure what happened there:D

i have my hair, my build, my temper, my looks... AND my brains.

i'm pretty blessed. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 113: Whutchu talkin' about, Meyer?

How can someone who went to school in the UP still refer to TC as "up north"?

"Up North" is the northern lower. What you call "Up North", I still call "The UP".

is it north of him?

And how long has it been north of him?

Traverse City has been north of me for approximately 19 of my 23.5 years. So Tech grad or not, it's still "Up North" in my book. ;)
