Tonight's Twins game suspended and will resume tomorrow at 4pm.
Cue traffic disaster in downtown Mpls tomorrow afternoon.

Glad I work 630-3 everyday. :D

Avoid all traffic coming in, and most traffic leaving.

Yay for suburban living! :p

394 will be a mess tomorrow, that's for sure, since that's the main artery from the west. I'm guessing backup to just about Hwy 169.

I don't live in the burbs silly. I am a city dweller! :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Good morning Lodge. I'm waiting for ride to the airport. Heading to NYC for an all day meeting. Then I have a work event tonight. Flying back tomorrow morning.

So did Mrs. Gonzo. She's an excellent manual transmission driver. And I've known how to drive a stick since I was 15 or 16. I even had a truck with a "three on the tree" which you never see any longer.

Hope you get better news on the shoulder Wally!
Wally- Hope you get better faster!

I had a 66 Chevy- 3 on the column- best car evah! (except when the gears jammed and I needed to hop out, pop the hood and unjam them:p
Just make sure I never see the bottom of my coffee cup...

D-mn, I got more body fat than that, and I weigh a mere 160...

Good morning, Lodge. Thanks for telling me how to get the blood out of my clothes; they came out spotless. :)
:)

Interesting. I thought (assumed?) MRI's were solid as well. At any rate, glad you're on the mend and remember to take it easy.
Lots of incidental findings on MRIs that are variants of normal for most people but no one ever knew exsisted until we did mucho MRIs.

I grew up and learned how to drive with a three on the tree.

One evening I was with my dad (not sure how old I was maybe 9, 10 or 11 years old) and my dad had to much to drink. He tossed me the keys and said "get us home". After taking the back roads and a little bit of gear grinding we made it with no issues.

So I tried to determine if you drive a stick in the UK, is the shift pattern the same or backwards? Google didn't help.
I've been there and rode in our friends Peugeot, but didn't really pay attention.

I was wondering that too. Don't we have a regular poster who lives over there?

I'm tired of this argument, but I will say this - once you learn to drive a manual, you will HATE driving an automatic (except in certain, relatively rare, cases). I like my current car ('02 CR-V), but I'd like it a whole lot more if it were a manual.
I don't want the car deciding when to shift- that is my job. Never owned an automatic and I hope I never do.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

I am going to a retirement luncheon today for a coworker and then to my semiannual dentist appointment.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Listening to some Neil Diamond to start my morning and I think my arm is finally healing. I just need to rest, which is very difficult for me...

Listening to Neil Diamond won't promote healing. :)

Morning Lodge.

Tired. This will be a long day.

My opinion on manuals in hauling/towing trucks is that I'd rather drive the manual than the auto, and I've done both. I hate torque converters when pulling a load. There have been times when we've loaded the trailer with cattle and tried to pull away with my dad's truck ('08 Silverado) and the torque converter just slips and the truck doesn't move because the load is too heavy. You don't get that problem with a manual. I hate it when you rev an auto with a huge load to take off and the RPM's soar and the truck just starts to crawl forward. Also, I hate it when I'm hauling a load and the auto decides to downshift going up a hill, sending the engine speed to like 3 grand, when it is obvious that you can lug it up the hill. Besides, everyone knows a diesel's peak torque is at low RPM's, so why not let it lug, like it is meant to do?

Wait, there are gas stations where people pump your gas for you?
and I thought having someone else change oil/flush coolant/replace brakes was bad!

Morning, Lodge. Just got back from Shirtless' and bbdl's house, where I was crashing after Shirtless' birthday bar excursion. :D

As regards the great manual vs. automatic debate, my Jeep Cherokee is still on the original transmission and clutch. After 210,000 miles. That's obviously an exception, but shows how well they hold up with good treatment.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Good morning tLodge. Managed to get out of bed before noon today! On tap, cleaning, more packing (I really can only pack about 5-10 boxes before I wear myself out) and work. A friend might be bringing his trailer by to load up the tractor and take it north for us. :)

I decided to take the choo choo this week because of both that and we're doing our part of bringing Wachovia into our system of record (for trust accounting) this weekend. Yup, that's right, I'm working all this Memorial weekend.

At least it's OT in the bank.
That sucks. :( I've seen some of the stuff that goes into merging two banks together and I feel for you.

Never had that problem with the F-350, but the heaviest thing we towed was the 36ft 5th wheel trailer. Plus with an auto you can still make the tranny stay in 1st or 2nd, you just have to remember to upshift when you are done. (which I have been known to forget to do. :o)

I quit doing all that maintenance stuff myself a few years ago. I can find coupons for oil changes and deals on seasonal services that make it cheap enough that I don't have to mess with it or the old oil/coolant/etc.
