Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

I have to confess that when I learned to drive a manual, I sucked at it for a while.:o It actually wasn't until I started riding a bike that I got the hang of the clutch - throttle coordination. It's probably because we had a crappy '66 Dodge Dart with 3 on the tree and a crappy clutch, but I struggled at first.

My first two cars though were manuals (Pinto and Mazda 626) and I had no problems with them, even though I was in Oakland and San Francisco with the Mazda. Learned to start out with the hand brake on out there.

Because Sloe Vag is such a dick, I'm just going to be a terrible server if he ever comes in. I mean, come on, if someone tells you they won't tip you, are you going to treat them well? Hell no.

I start at 20%. You can go down from that 20% very quickly. You can, however, go up from that 20%, but it's not easy.

Keep my water glass full, make sure my food is hot, and don't try to flirt for tips.

I also don't go to self serve gas stations either. I choose to not pump my own gas. I can and I have. I don't like to and I actually have to read how to do it because I do it so infrequently. But why should I when I can pay someone to do it for me? And not have to get out of my car? Maybe it's laziness. Actually, it probably is laziness. BFD. You still have given me nothing close to a reason to know how. No one in my family has a manual. None of the cars I learned to drive on had a manual. If I were chosen to be a designated driver I would use my car. Rental cars are far and beyond automatics. If there was some edict from above that said everyone had to learn on one, so be it. But there wasn't, and I've been driving for probably as long as you've been alive. Never had the need to know nor has it come up as a situation where I would.
You know this made me realize something, there aren't any full serve gas stations down here. None. Not sure why, since I never noticed it before.

I'm always shocked at first when I buy gas in Jersey since they don't allow self-service.

Southern men are expected to know about cars, and can find the tank themselves. And driving isn't for women.

Hello - training all day today and outside all evening. Gotta love it when it rains after the sun sets! Unless, of course, you're at Target Field. ;)

For those of you who work in DT Minneapolis I will be one of the rubes at Target Center you can blame for the traffic nightmare. Da boss wanted to bring our whole office to the motivation seminar and being the new guy I figured it would be a good thing to volunteer to go.

He just sent an email, the attendee list is down to just the two of us so I can't back out now. Time to cue my George Costanza / Peterman / it will be just the bulls bad lie attempt. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

GE, I just got a broadcast email at work today telling the staff to expect delays and advising to park over by the Dome to avoid traffic problems. they warned of that stupid conference at the Target Center and then mentioned the 6:10 Twins game, so getting to and leaving work were both guaranteed to be major cluster *s.

I've seen the predictions....erf. I will probably be DT pretty early (before 7) and park over near 2nd Ave / Washington Ave area so I can escape on the Hennepin Ave. bridge, there were plenty of spots over there before the Twins opener. Depending upon the line up I may try to bug out early....

I decided to take the choo choo this week because of both that and we're doing our part of bringing Wachovia into our system of record (for trust accounting) this weekend. Yup, that's right, I'm working all this Memorial weekend.

At least it's OT in the bank.

Is Wachovia still operating on their own through the merger?
I wasn't really sure about that.

On the bank side, for which I do not work, Wachovia advertisements are all branded as "Wachovia," with a sub-branding, "A Wells Fargo Company." Both the Wachovia and WF emblems appear on all ads.

Wachovia branches are slowly becoming Wells Fargo branches. It's a state-by-state thing, due to every state having its own banking laws and hurdles. Add to that, every bank of WF and Wachovia size have a whole list of ABAs, and rerouting/re-registering those are huge jobs in and of themselves. I've had to deal with them on the Trust side quite a bit, and they all have different rules surrounding them, based upon their purpose. Some are on-we, others are on-us, and then the remainder don't qualify as either. It's a giant pain.

Gotcha. There wasn't really much said in training about it, and I've heard our personal bankers vaguely mention it, and there's some jargon on our intranet about it, but beyond that, I'm out of the loop as all hell.

PS, happy belated 16000! :)
