Back in 2002, UNH played a weekend series in Maine. The first night, during a scrum in front of the net, Mike Ayers's hand was caught under the skate blade of one of his own defensemen, partially severing a tendon. UNH's other starting goaltender was already sidelined with a concussion from an earlier game, so the (not very good) 3rd string goalie was called into service. We feared he'd get a lot more playing time, as Ayers looked to be out for considerable time (judging solely by the pool of blood left behind on the ice). So, the next night, my friend Jes and I were sitting in the front of the end opposite the student and visitors sections (a gift from a Maine poster), when we saw Ayers lead the team onto the ice for warm-ups (doctor cleared him to play, as there was no further damage to be done, in his opinion). We took the sign we'd made to support the back-up back-up, turned it over, and wrote: "Ayers is one tough mofo!"
Some Maine fan behind us, out of (glaringly mock) concern for the local TV cameras picking up the sign (even though the main cameras were behind us) and it casting UNH fans in a negative light, asked, "What's a 'mofo'?"
As I stuttered to find a suitable explanation, Jes interjected with a very forceful, "It means 'guy'," and the Maine fan shut up.
So, apparently REDRocket thinks the weather is "Hotter than a guy."
