Howdy Folks
A wee bit chilly out there this morning

I didn't realize part timers could stick it to the man, the things one learns in the lodge:D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

I'll be in my mid-30s until i save up 10% for this area... especially if I decide to start traveling or other things... under this idea I buy nothing major at all until after I get the property. I have a good idea on my price range because I've done more than a few calculator run downs.

Right now I don't like being locked into this idea that i have to save... if I'm going to save then I may as well get it done so I can move on to the other crap I need to do with my life.

Welcome to the real world. Sometimes you need patience even when you don't want to. The not waiting is why so many places are in foreclosure. Folks getting stuff before they were financially capable of sustaining if something happened. If you don't have a cushion because you didn't want to save then it royally sucks if you run into a bump in the road.

Try to let go of the mental time line you have for where you should be like St C says.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! moanin' monday is here (and cold!)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Dam fire alarm at work has gone off already twice today. One of the most irritating sounds known to mankind. Apparently there is a fault in one of the sensors.

Les, you need to venture in the "Asian porn review" thread... I go on forever in there. :D

Morning lodge

It was inevitable, but road construction has begun in earnest. Having a 34 mile one way commute ups the odds that I'll have to endure it. Looks like a major project on part of my route is going to last until November :(

Can't you take the bypass and avoid driving through Earnest? :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Just turned my furnace back on, 64 degrees in my house:eek: .

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Sloe Vag, Wells Fargo gave me the day off, gave me a card with my schedule, and gave me a different shift to make up for missing my other one.
This is Shopko. If you do not know what a Shopko is, it's WI's Walmart.

Good morning, partiers. Finals week starts now, and in thirty four minutes the pain begins. I hope my final exam isn't too hard:

Section I: Audio-Visual
1. Watch We Were Soldiers
Section II: Short Answer
1. Did you like the show?
2. What was your favorite part?

What do you guys think?

I'd look for a big scale on that test

You have all scholarship athletes in your class?

Morning Lodge.

bb_dl, is the cabin not on Pelican? I assumed it was since you said Breezy Point. I don't think Pelican is a great fishing lake, but it certainly isn't too small.

My advice is plain and simple: Tell Shopko to stick it up their ***. Let them hire some other *head to work for minimum wage. I doubt that it will hurt you in the future from a resume standpoint.

Little Pelican, we're across the road from the big brother lake. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

I don't know your entire situation, but there are few factors to consider.

First, are you planning on being there at least seven years? If not, then you're better off renting, when you figure in all the costs associated with just the transactions of buying and selling homes - mostly on the sale side.

Second, assuming you're responsible with your money, your credit score is likely okay, but it may behoove you to take those extra steps needed to raise your score that much more. Lenders aren't quick to dole out the cash for a mortgage right now.

In general I'm responsible... I've always been able to pay my bills but there's been the occasional accidental hiccup when e-mails don't get sent (as happened with a phone bill) or the mail just doesn't plain arrive (as has happened with my electric bill).

Third, don't whine about the price of a home. A few years ago it was much worse. After next year, prices will likely get better. Word I've heard - could be considered rumor, I suppose - is that there's about $713B in uncollateralized housing debt (size of debt outstrips the value of the mortgaged properties) coming due with in the next couple years. If something doesn't change, this will likely lead to more problems in housing and even cheaper home prices. So it may pay to wait. Of course, what I told you could be entirely off base, so do some research, if you're interested.

I'm of that general idea but I haven't seen anything to reinforce that belief in awhile other than the doomsayer websites. Further that may be more of a problem for the banks than for the home owners.

Fourth, stop worrying about where you think you should be at this stage in life and just deal with where you are. Take the measures to fix it if it's not appealing to you. It's that simple. It should be even more so for a person who had the wherewithal to earn a Pimpin'hoes Degree in stats.

I'm working on it... but its never that simple. Fact of the matter is I'm behind and I need to use resources to work back to parity (compared everybody else in this area). I have two frames of mind on this... 1) do what I need to do, get what I "need" to get, and after that phase is over save passively as knowing me that will happen... 2) save to get to that next rung (housing) and then be comfortable to the point where I can go out and start doing other things.

The oddest thing is I feel like there's a pressure on me to travel. I don't particularly care for it, but it seems like I'm one of the few that hasn't gone overseas around here... or hasn't been 10 different cities. I feel like there's this pressure to be interesting or to have a hook... I think what really needs to happen is I need to find activities for myself and not worry that I haven't gone anywhere.

Not everyone likes to travel. I did it a lot when I was a kid and the short jaunts we can do now almost seem worthless. Do what works for YOU.
