Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

Thank you all. I start tomorrow morning at 8am. It hasn't sunk in yet. I am still in shock.

8am???? More power to ya. I couldn't do that.

So, I have this weekly status meeting with one of my internal clients. Back in February I tried to reserve a conference room for every week. We have an internal online system to book rooms here. It wouldn't do it. I called the Conference Center for help, they couldn't figure out why the system wasn't working so one of the folks in the Conf Ctr booked for me through April 19th.

On March 30th, I updated some of the current reservations and tried again to reserve a room on a recurring basis starting this Monday, May 10th. Still wasn't working. I sent this same person an email that the recurring part was not working and could she please help me. Never heard from her. Every now and then I was like - "Did she ever get back to me?" Then between the FF and the conference I was at all last week and the frenzy over the last 3-4 weeks here at work, I didn't follow up. I did today, tried telling her the system still wasn't working and she give me grief for waiting since March 30th to follow up. Uhhh, did you or did you NOT answer my March 30th email beeyotch? I don't nudge you for ignoring my March 30th email till today and I'm at fault?? What a wench.

Wow, that was quick! Get the job today, start tomorrow morning.
I recall that I somehow got into NJHS at the last minute without doing any of the community service. They just put the cords around my neck and handed me a certificate at 8th grade graduation. :o

Then I got to high school and actually did have to work to get into NHS. ;)

And congrats to LwB!
I was one of the ones inivited to the regular national honor society, well maybe not invited, but I was supposed to apply or something. When I saw the community service stuff, I pretty much didn't try. The only way I was doing community service was if the judge sentenced me to it.

I only did it because finding community service opportunities was easy for me. My dad runs a nonprofit company that operates 17 group homes for DD adults. So I was able to easily knock out all the hours by raking leaves and reading to residents.

I just had much better things to do than community service. Like work.

The obvious solution is to pester her by emailing and calling her to confirm that she received your email. And then confirm that she got the confirmation. And then confirm....

Do that about every hour. :p

I have the same issue here at work, but it's from my boss as much as from the person who was emailed about the original issue. What drives me crazy is when my boss asks me why no one followed up on another team-mate's email.

I love my cats but they have this irritating need to be sitting on my desk while I am working. And they usually find a way to block with the screen or the keyboard. (or both)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

So by Friday morning you can start the bitching about the daily grind of work. :D
Hey, that would be just in time for the weekend then... ;)

Exactly! :D

8am???? More power to ya. I couldn't do that.

8am is not that bad. I did the graveyard shift for a year and that was painful. More power for those who do that. Also, this is the first time in my career field that I actually get to work first shift.

Wow, that was quick! Get the job today, start tomorrow morning.

They needed someone with experience who can jump right in a run. It is a 20 mile commute one way, but it isn't that bad.

Congrats!

could you send some positive luck my way?

I will send you all the positive luck that have. What little there was to begin with. ;)

Blech...at least tomorrow is Thursday?

I never understood how people worked third shift. When I was working in the hospital in college I worked either first or second shift and working second shift was really tough. Especially when I had to alternate between first and second. My favorite shift was " 'tweener' " - 12pm - 8am. What do you do? (If you don't mind the nosiness).

20 miles isn't too bad.

Just got back from the Heights. I am officially enrolled as a BC student for Summer 2010. I feel...conflicted.

Thank you! I am a graphic designer. When I was at the St. Cloud Times, my hours were 12pm-8pm with every other Thursday off to work from 3pm-1am every other Saturday. I loved it, except for a few people. Then I got laid off. 10 months later...With this new position, I get to work on the product catalog and logos for promotional materials. The hours are from 8am-5pm.

Good luck with school this summer!

Good evening Lodge.

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!

I get to start as soon as possible! Woohoo!
Congrats!!!

That's nothing...my dad gets to work at 6AM and doesn't get home until 6PM. My little brother does the same thing (except he leaves at 3 or 4, most of the time). I, however, am with you...8AM sucks.

Care to explain how a 20 hr. shift is a "tweener" ;)

And you are??

Tell me about it. Things are just crazy right now. It's all good but still crazy. My plans to catch Ralph regarding post count is temporarily on hold for now. :) ;) :o

Congrats, LWB!

* 8am. My old job was an 8-5 (hour lunch) and while the end time was nice, the start time blew goats. I'd love the 9-5:30 shift that a couple have at my current job, but I can't really complain too much about my 10-6:30, especially since I'm more of a night owl.

That would be my ideal shift. However, as one who is aspiring to work in a school, it's not looking too likely for me. :(
