Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #109: It's the Offseason, now what?

Ugh... have to crawl out of bed and get myself to the conference... this weekend is going to suck. :(

I'm not due until mid-September, so it will have to wait until next summer. :(

So, are they going to at least take you out somewhere today? I'd be getting a serious case of cabin fever if I was in the house all week!

That is the great thing about having Maine as an 'arch-rival' school. I can't think of anything that UMaine offers that UNH doesn't. :0

I went to the library today. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Real people. Books. Magazines. I drove. Realized I was going 30ish- the speedlimit but not what I usually do:o

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #109: It's the Offseason, now what?

This is the first day that I finally feel normal. I had a headache and was all yucky yesterday.

I love having a 3 day weekend after tax season. I get to get the house cleaned up, the yard furniture out, I'll mow tomorrow when it's a little warmer. If it was 10-15 degrees warmer I'd be reaching for the golf clubs.

You celebrate Patriot's Day too?

Here's the schedule for my 3-day weekend:

Today - reviewed my calendar, Outlook and DayTimer to account for my time for this past month.

Tomorrow - head into office to input my time in archaic and annoying time management system that I cannot access from home. Deadline to input time for this month is Wednesday and I will not have time during the day Tuesday to work on this.

Monday (holiday) - drive to Worcester with client to check out trade show booth. Our big, annual conference that I go to every year is the last week of April. It's here in Boston, so no travel.

So, I will be working for some part of all three days of my three-day weekend. *sigh*

Got up this morning, headed out for some errands:
- Went to Walgreens to try and get a photo from camera printed. I took a picture of BU forwrd Zach Cohen and his mom at the Dugout post hockey banquet last season and never got around to printing it out for his mom. Put my memory card into the machine and...nothing. Says it couldn't read it. I have 400+ picture on this card. High school girl with pierced lip comes over to help. She tries the card in another machine. Still nothing. She tells me their machines are kind of old so that sometimes happens. Way to lose my business Walgreens!!

- Went to The Home Depot because I need to get some air filters for my heating/AC unit. I go to pay, they hand me the filters. "Can you put them in a bag?" I ask. High school girl working register tries to fit two 16x25x1 filters in a small plastic bag. Old guy manager was there too and we both go "they won't fit". I ask if they have anything bigger. The old guy manager says that's the only size bag they have. I'm incredulous, given the variety of stuff they sell there in various sizes that that's the only size bag they have. Old guy manager says "Well, it's not like people put gas grills in plastic bags". Dick. He offers to hold them till I go get my car as it's rainy and raw and he thinks I don't want to get them wet. No, dumbass, they're just easier to hold in a bag.

- Went to the Comcast office as I realized on Thursday night at about 10:30pm that I never got my cable bill. As it turns out, I did get it but it was buried on my dining room table under a bunch of other stuff. :o It was due on the 10th so I wanted to get them my check right away. Thankfully they're about 5 minutes from my place.

- Went to CVS to get that one picture printed. They did it for me in about 10 minutes, and then I bought some cards. Suck it, Walgreens.

Now I need to go get all purdy for the hockey banquet tonight.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #109: It's the Offseason, now what?

I guess this year I am. We're always closed on April 16th, due to the fact that we work some serious ape**** hours the week leading up to the 15th. One year I had exactly 100 hours the week of the 15th, and that included being closed on the 16th.

You know, that annoyed me as well when I was a cashier at HD. I hated telling people I couldn't give them anything else, and having them look at me/treat me like I was purposely denying them just to be irritating when, truthfully, I would have liked to have that option to offer them and I was held powerless by the status quo.
I HATED that job. Longest summer of my life.

That will take what, 5 minutes? :p
From what I've heard, Scarlet is perpetually purdy! ;)

Me, on the other hand... well let's just say if I can get my shirt tucked in and my tie done correctly I'll be happy. :o

Good Morning, MEUSA! Sorry that I am late. :D

Back from the market. Went with the boys. Can't remember last time we went shopping as a family. Prolly not since Lil could stay home by himself. Now am utterly exhausted but did buy a bunch of stuff that is healthy to eat. :D I am so sick of processed food- the only thing that was left by yesterday.

Based on the time I've spent in HD as a customer, most of the jobs there look horrible.

I'll bet that the "one size bag" thing is a cost-cutting measure. They've been getting eaten alive by Lowe's the last several years.

I need to do that too!

You're coming to the BU hockey banquet?? Awesome!! :)

Very tiring. It was windy.

But was it raw and cold like it was here? It was miserable out today.

I was wondering if it was also a "green" initiative on their part. Even it it was...idiots. If there was a Lowe's closer to me I would have gone there.

OK kids, I'm all gussied up so I'm going to head over to campus. Chat with you all later!

Blackberries were on sale at SunFlower at 10 pint boxes for $10. I bought half a dozen boxes. Delicious! These berries are mid-summer sweet right now. A great springtime treat. I might have to drown a few of them in some French Vanilla ice cream for dessert tonight. :)
