There have long been campaigns to try and save/renovate at least a few of the buildings that exhibit pre-Depression architectural styles. Some successful (the new Westin Book-Cadillac, the Dime Building), others not so much (the former Statler Hotel, which is now a parking lot).

I read about those 2 hotels. After seeing the pictures from inside the Book-Cadillac I can't believe that it is a hotel again, it was trashed. I'm sure they just had to gut the whole thing and start over within the structure of the old building.

Ok, so I got the "thanks but no thanks" e-mail from the other airline I interviewed for. I thought this interview went really well. This is really starting to be a kick in the junk. I'm able to get the interview; then not get the job. I'm reading all this stuff that says don't blame yourself and it's a tough job market but really, I'm getting sick of not landing a *king job. To make matters worse, I'm done on May 1st, so unless I want to be a complete *king mooch and let the government subsidize my vacation from the job world, I need to find something. The problem is, there aren't a lot of flying jobs out there. So it looks like I'm going to be leaving the profession that has given me free travel benefits for the last four years and has allowed me to travel for free whenever I want. Am I going to miss the lifestyle of the airlines? Hell no. It sucks being on the road for days on end, staying in crappy hotels and not being near the people that matter to you. But I will miss the travel bennies for sure. The worst part of it is, I don't know what else I can do. Retail, sure, but it's going to pay me pennies. I can't make a living doing that. And who is to say I'll get hired there anyway? I'm really getting sick of this *t. And it's all thanks to Bryan *king Bedford. I encourage all of you to never book tickets on a Republic flight. Ever.

The most frustrating thing is when I talk to my friends and whatnot, when they are like oh that sucks so bad, you can hear a small part of them saying "glad it's not me." And I don't blame them, because I was once on that side of the fence.

Anyway, since I don't pray, I need people to pray for me.

Will do. You work too hard and deserve a job that's worthy of your efforts.

Evening, Lodge. My dad's home from the hospital, talked with my cat shelter friends about possibly adopting another cat, had a good run this morning... it was a great day.

Hey kids. Long day. Crazy day. Trying to take care of several things before I leave for Detroit tomorrow and it just didn't go easy today. Didn't get home till after 9pm, had to finish packing. My flight's at 8:30. Not bringing my laptop but am bringing the Blackberry so I won't be too offline for the trip.

i feel great. still some tingling in the fingers, but it's more annoying than anything. it didn't hinder any actions i did. this is just so it doesn't get worse, etc etc. that's what is frustrating.

biggest hindrance? typing or signing my name with my wrong hand.

other than that? fully functional, baby.

for those who don't know, my left arm is dunzo until mon morn. no use. have to do everything with my right hand. and i'm mostly left handed

Michigan Central Station wasn't ever that close to downtown (it's past old Tiger Stadium and not particularly central to anything but the rail yard), but it's still a shame the building is in such bad shape. Hopefully one of the redevelopment plans will work out.
