Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

I'm a big fan of the chocolate eclairs from those ice cream trucks.

Hammer - what's the weather look like for the FF. I'm doing laundry and packing tonight.

If Detroit is getting the weather that MN has had this weekend (timing is about right), expect around 60-65 or so for the high, sunny, maybe a bit windy. Generally nice.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

thur/fri - chance of rain, highs in the upper 40's
sat - cloudy, mid 50's high

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Weather guessers are saying mostly mid 50s with some slight chances for rain here and there from Wed.-Sun.

Check again Tuesday and the forecast may be slightly more accurate.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Other than weather.com, any good sites to check, like a paper or tv news site?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Well, I finally got some great news yesterday. After several months hoops to jump thru, along with a few pounds of flesh, I've finally gotten Michigan No Worker Left Behind to pay for the rest of my classes. Only been trying to get them to do that since August. Three Jeers for Bureaucracy!!!

Anyways, thats a whole lot less for me to worry about now, just need to line up another body for my Myo Homework that will be due Friday morning. Thinking of going to the Apple Store in AA to go get an iTouch as a way to celebrate. :D
Congrats!

yeah. I hate the company. It yanked the rug out from under my feet. It took a great small airline and is disbanding it. It's putting me and 350 other employees out on the street and forcing a lot of people to scramble for employment. When they ask in the interview why do you want to work for us, I want to tell them to *k off.

But it's a means to an end, right?
Right!

I bet you have a degree though. That's more than I can say.
A degree that's worthless without a Masters to go with it. Right now, I'm lucky to get 2-3 days a week at work, and when I do work, it's the same old sh-t, day after day after day... I've had enough.

I need to decide if I want to apply for a supervisor position. They originally posted it around Thanksgiving but apparently either didn't get enough applicants or the ones who applied weren't sufficiently qualified, so now they are re-posting it.

Pros:
- day position
- no weekends or holidays
- good career move
- higher pay long-term

Cons:
- more stress/responsibility
- lower pay for the first 2-3 years
- inspections are coming soon (don't know if they will fill the position by then)
- the senior tech retired which means having to fill that vacancy in the near future / deal with those responsibilities in the meantime
- having meetings with management
Do it!

Morning, Lodge, happy Easter to those who celebrate it, happy Passover for others, and happy discount candy day for the rest of us. ;)
Happy Easter to you too!

But really, you're out there, and that truck rolls on by, and boom, you want some ice cream.

Plus, I haven't seen an ice cream truck in years. Nothing like grabbing a popsicle while playing kickball/whiffleball as a kid, on a hot summer day. Nostalgia right there. That is worth the extra cost.
Dang, now I want some ice cream.

Evening, Lodge. Was invited to a friend's house for Easter dinner today after church... felt GREAT not having to cook or take care of anything for once.

And check again Wednesday and it might be even more accurate. Or completely wrong.

Stick your head out a window on Thursday and that will be incredibly accurate. :p

Brent you're my first negative rep after getting 2 positive ones.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Bob: most jobs are the same ol' *, different day, Master's degree or not. :p

There's having some fun, and then there's that. And you know my humor. Right now, you're just being a dick.

Obviously, I didn't sign it, because you have extra. I was too lazy to put in the redundant work. :D

More (a), but it's the constant harping, instead of trying to have a normal discussion, which amazingly I'm doing now, after having my fun last night.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Sooo...
You know how big family gatherings always lead to big announcements?

Well, on Saturday, I found out that my aunt (dad's youngest sister) is engaged.
Never ever thought I'd see the day. She's 33, lives in NYC, and is very high maintenance. Never with a guy for long, yadda yadda.
The kicker? This guy's from Africa. The reason this is crazy, is I'm from a very Scandinavian family, and while none of us are racist by any means, this is just.. odd.
Anyways, good for her, I'm excited, have to love weddings.

Wellllll, today, I found out the other half of the story. She's pregnant.

Needless to say, it's been an interesting weekend.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

I'm not being paid enough. The more I get paid, and the more challenges I get, the more I'm willing to put up with crap. :)

Life: Hey, Bob, how's it going? I'm Life. I'll be with ya for a while. Show ya the ropes, teach you some lessons, probably destroy some dreams, while allowing you to live some others. Chances are, the dream job thing isn't happening. I might give you a job that's good enough, but you gotta put in some work. Go figure, huh? ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Dear step family: (my grandpa remarried after my grandma passed, now some of his new wife's family come to family gatherings)
You might want to think twice before coming to farm country and *****ing about everyone driving trucks, while you brag about your ****ing Prius's 50 mpg. We don't care. When you come from the city to where people actually work you should realize that on the farm it is necessary to have trucks to, you know, pull and haul huge loads.

Thank You,
bigblue_dl

:D

My mostly blue collar family and blue collar bro's inlaws had a collective rant on those SmartCars today (the ones who look like half a car, and that I could probably pick up an move with my bare hands).

Don't get me started on SmartCars. They are epically stupid. Hey buddy, you do realize that a '95 Saturn gets better mileage than your dumb SmartCar, right? Not so smart now, huh?

And if you crashed into a Vespa scooter, your car is probably totalled. :p
