Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

Morning Lodge

Talked to the realtor again late last night, he read over the signed offer again and found some interesting stuff, that I didn't understand, that leads him to believe that we are sitting pretty good right now. But I'm still going to assume that I'm not getting the house, so I don't get too disappointed.

Murphy was an optimist. ;)

... and then he got shot by drug kingpin Clarence Boddicker.

Of course he became robocop after that and exacted vengeance, but I'm guessing he'd rather have stayed human.

Shortsales are pretty **** frustrating. I waited 3 weeks to get a response from the bank to my offer...they countered, we accepted and now I'm waiting on the bank again to make it official. Already moved ahead with the home inspection (only thing of note is that the hot water heater is the original from 1980) and locked my interest rate but some of the details are still pretty frustrating.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

Good luck. :D

Awesome!

TPIWWP. ;)

Evening, Lodge. I had a job interview today at another museum in our system - hopefully it works out for me, but I have tough competition. If nothing else, I'm going to start at the Fort again in a couple weeks (and would split my hours there if I get the other job), so I'll have income besides unemployment insurance. :o

Also, I apparently have a Joe Mauer haircut. :D
Good luck to you!

Hi tLodge, highlight of my day, buying 10 bags of mulch for the flower beds.

Just kidding...(well, I did buy the mulch, but that's not the highlight of my day)

The best part of my day is that found out that I can move back to Connecticut and take my job with me! :)
Awesome!

Morning, Lodge! Absolutely beautiful day out today, and when I get home, I think I'll make some muffins or cookies...

Robocop did a crappy job of keeping Detroit safe and vital (at least outside of downtown.) :o However, it'd still be kind of cool if he showed up at the FFFF.

Morning, Lodge.

As long as I get my purchase agreement signed by April 30th, I won't care. The government is ****ing us 6 ways to Sunday, may as well get as much money out of this idiocy as possible. If I don't get it done in time to get my $8000, I'll just live in the back of my truck or a city park or something.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

S'upp y'all....

"thought" I bought a watch yesterday on bluenile-- only to get a vm last night telling me it was in fact not in inventory... Called today to complain hoping to get a bit of a discount where I could spend even more on a nicer watch, but was only offered $50 for my troubles.... Which I accepted.

Scarlet, yes. I already offered to drive down to foxboro. And has a banquet letter gone out yet? -as I've not seen one. It's nice out, are you going out for lunch??

Actually I was told that since the seller has accepted your offer, you technically have a "signed PA" and just need to iron out the details and close by June 30. I don't know if that is completely true but it could be.

Doesn't the bank have to sign it too? I was thinking that the bank has to sign off on it by April 30th, but I could be wrong.

They do for you to actually get the place, but i was told that in the eyes of the government, you have a "signed PA" by the deadline.

hmmm, interesting. Hopefully everything goes well, and I actually get the place and the bank has already approved it by April 30th, so I don't have to worry about sorting through that.

I would agree and more than likely if you get the place it should be sorted out before April 30th.

"April 30 is the drop dead deadline for anyone wishing to take advantage of these tax credits to be “under contract” to purchase a home. The term “under contract” literally means that you have a signed purchase agreement with the seller of a home that you want to buy."

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

Good morning tLodge! Just popping in to say 'hi' before heading back outside to do more yard-work.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

So I know most of you spend your time on the boards ignoring everything I post, but if any of you have some advice to give, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've been researching some schools in places that I can't just go in and talk to someone there about it. I've been emailing and calling and leaving messages asking for information, and haven't received anything back yet. Should I just apply and hope that the schools have a decent program in what I'm looking at? Or do I wait to hear back from them before applying?

Thanks in advance if anyone replies to this. :)

I'll email you the flyer about the Gala thing for tickets. I would like to go as well. As for the banquet letter, let me email the hockey office today to see what the story is and I'll let you know. It should have gone out by now - I agree. And no, I won't be going out for lunch, no time!! I need to get my stuff done as it's Thursday, and you know what that means! :)

ETA: Just heard back - banquet info was mailed this morning.

Also - can you email me so I have your email address? I can't attach anything when I email from USCHO. Thx.

I hate the UP. I was like hey, I'll be good with flip flops and sweats today, I've worn shorts the past couple of days.
No, it's 17 degrees.

I think Jon Stewart is on to something. If someone wants appraise the value of the car owned by Priceless Conglomerate at about $1 million I'll give you a cut...

Oh so many things so little time.

First off troll your professors for information... if you are already out of school that might be difficult but somebody is writing those recommendation letters, right?

Do as much leg work as you can but you will never have a feel until you talk to people.

I assume you are a senior so you are very behind in the process. If you call a department inquire with the secretaries who might be the best people to ask about the program.

Applying to places cold is a last resort but then again that has more to do with what you're trying to do with the next step of your college career.

And this is general advice to pass on to anybody who starts whispering about grad school... start early (junior year) talk to the professors and see what they have to say. Set appointments to speak to people if you can.

In my case I probably should have taken the time to speak to other graduate departments about what they were doing but i assume it was kind of "one size fits all" type of a situation so I went with what was closest. The logic wasn't wrong but you have the opportunity to ask around so do so. In my situation I don't think I would have seen issues until I was deep into it as I was.

----

As for the other bit... no you shouldn't be helped but this is a public service to anybody who wants to know and there's a lot of people around here looking to do graduate work. I leave this as my take to anybody here.

I thought about grad school for approximately 3.5 minutes, then I realized I didn't want to be a poor student anymore and accepted the offer I had in my hand. :p

I may go to grad school (MBA or Engineering) in the future, but only if my company pays for it, which I think they will in another year.

I wasn't thrilled that it was 20 degrees when I walked out the door this morning. At least the sun is out, so it looks nice, and I heard from a co-worker that it is supposed to be in the 70's next week.
