Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

But did the rest of us taxpayers "invest" in the company that built it?

Sadly, yes. But it wasn't because of any votes I cast.

I did buy it before the 5hi4 hit the fan though. In other words, I did my part to stimulate the economy the old fashioned way. I bought something. With money I earned by working.

Me too! Same year as you apparently. Only difference is that I bought it to stimulate the economy and I'm now about 1/3 of the way through paying for it. :p

 That's not the American way anymore.

RFAlph- nifty paying off the mortgage!!

Not Irish. Not the slightest bit. Wore green because.

Went to breakfast with one of my friends from college days. Got there at 8 and left at 11:30. Lots to catch up on. :D

Making cottage pie for dinner because no one here will eat the cabbage, cornbeef, or anything else traditional (e.xcept the beer of course)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

RFAlph! Congrats! That is an awesome achievement! I just got a 15 year mortgage, and hope to join your exalted ranks some day. I read somewhere that most Americans spend only 4.5 years in a house before moving again, and so the paid-for mortgage is becoming more rare.

As ever, you rock.

RFAlph- nifty paying off the mortgage!!

Thanks. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

We plan to pay off our mortgage this year. We moved in in 2000, but used equity from our first home, which we had been in for about 10 years. We could keep paying for several more years, but we are no longer getting any tax benefit from the payments and our savings are paying us almost no interest so we'll retire this thing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Think of it this way Diva. Next week, NMU could very well have a invite to the NCAA Ice hockey Tournement, while the MTU women's BB team will be in Missery. ;)

You went to school at MTU. Since when do you NEED an Excuse to drink?? ;)

Oh, I have nothing against the girls b-ball team doing well. Heck, their games are actually pretty entertaining. It was more the whole "It's too early, I haven't had my coffee yet, and my TV's full of Techies" thing.

Arrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!

waiting is horrible. I'm too impatient. I want the puppy, and I want it now. And if I can't have it, I want to know now so I can go find another one (as the other 2 dogs I was considering are no longer shown as available. I'm hoping they were both adopted...one was in a shelter and I don't want to think about the alternative).

Checking my e-mail constantly hoping for some news. I was trying to not get attached knowing there are other families she might go to. That doesn't seem to have worked.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Last night was awesome. Went to The Arena (bar in AA with amazing wings) to listen to the Red show (Michigan hockey radio show). Got free tickets for Friday's CCHA games while at the show. Then went to the Cupcake Station for dessert and found out it's buy one get one free all week. So, instead of us all saving money, we each enjoyed a cupcake there and got one to go. That has helped today start out well as a mocha cupcake for breakfast is AWESOME!
I see you're still partying. It's hard to believe that we're nearing the end of the season that started with you and I meeting in Anchorage (09-10 October) - ages ago, it seems.

Whether the boys finish with a few more wins or not, it has been a memorable season, because it started off so well.

So, that's what the dog lovers are calling it these days. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Just found out that there is "some" water in my apartment and that something that was plugged in shorted out the entire house, causing my landlord to go in and see what is up. :( :( :( He called to say that he took out the rugs (the entire apartment has tile floor so I have some cheap area rugs) and is "replacing a few power cords"...I don't know what that means, but now Friday seriously can't get here fast enough!!! :( Luckily tcbg is going to the apartment tomorrow, but I dread what he's going to find!

When did you move to Sioux country?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

That sounds like trouble.

Oh, and a purse fight in the Ohio State thread. They've now encountered their own version of UMHockeydip****RULZ!!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Bye all, off to Nashville where I get to avoid the ****fest that is DI right now and go see the Wild play at the Preds from a suite. And I won't be driving so I can make free with their free booze. :D
