Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

I got a call from mommy daycare today. It sounds like my mom's the daycare tramp, trying to corrupt the heart and mind of a married man who's there, too. They both suffer from dimentia of varying sorts. My brother was rolling in a fit of laughter when I told him abou it. This is not how my mom acted before the disease.

Taco House for dinner!

It's such a sad disease yet it can lead to moments that cause one to chuckle.

I don't know whether to laugh at this or feel sad. I guess laugh that she is still in the mood.

We're all laughing. The wife of the man involved - names not disclosed to me - supposedly took it well, saying that it's good he's found someone with whom he's bonding, but I do feel bad for the man's wife. That can't be easy no matter how much she may understand his diminished state of mental being.

From my mom's, or more to the point my family's, perspective, it really is comical. She doesn't seem to think there's anything wrong with what she was doing. It's funny from the perspective of all the things she told us as we were growing up, how she said her father would have punished her if he'd have found out about something like that. Now we find out that she's a trollop, a floozy, a scarlet woman. :D
Yeah, at this point, its all you can do is laugh about it. At least now she's still running around with enough marbles to scheme about seducing a man. Be thankful for that small miracle I guess.

'Morning, Lodge. Just saw Yager on the morning news (they were showing highlights from the Tech women's basketball game from yesterday). Not necessarily the best way to start my morning... :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

I have paid off my mortgage. :) Too bad that the condo fee has long ago become greater than the mortgage payment. :(

I moved into my unit on the day that the US beat Finland for the Olympic Championship and closed on it a couple of weeks later. (I had to vacate the unit that I had been renting so that it could be renovated.)

Now I can correctly fill in my census form. :D

Good Morning lodge

I would have replied to all of these yesterday, but yesterday afternoon was "one of those days".
I find out that I need to have a minor surgery performed in a couple of weeks, nothing serious at all, so no need for concern.
I stopped at SA on my home from the Dr. and when I come out my truck wont start. Turns out I need a starter (2008, 33,000 miles w t f ?). Towed to the dealer, where they gave me a stripped down 2010 Silverado, but whatever. They call back and mention tranny lines leaking, oil pan has a slight leak, and one of my modules is out on my onboard computer. All under warranty, but again w t f?
Finally get home around six (left work at noon), pour a guinness, sit down and my universal remote has a "Configuration Corrupt - access website" message. Now I'm pis sed.

Just one of those days! :o

so... what'd you do with them... I'm on the impression that they're a rather nasty bird even when dead.

You can eat goose. I'm guessing Gonzo eats them.

Yes - they're a bit labor intensive to prepare, but ultimately very good. Especially the young ones you get early in the season.

Never had wild Canada goose. I have had farm-raised goose before, and it's very similar to beef, so wild goose is probably quite similar to deer meat in gaminess and toughness.

"kind of", but it's really not too gamey, unless you get an old one. Keep in mind they can live over 50 years, but they don't get that old being stupid. You usually get the younger ones that are 1-5 years old.

Haha, fair enough. It sounds like it'd make good jerky too, since it's already halfway there. :o

Geese and ducks make excellent jerky. When we have lots of geese or a limit of diver (ring bills, golden eyes, blue bills, etc. ) ducks we always jerk them. We've gone back to farmers who've given us access to their land and let them try our waterfowl jerky and they always take a couple of pounds more, they like it so much. :)

Had baked spaghetti tonight; it was good. Tomorrow, I'm making corned beef and cabbage while drinking Smithwick's....
I've got some red potatoes, carrots, pearl onions, a big brisket, and cabbage in the crock pot at home. Can't wait 'til the work day is done and I can dig in. :) No Smithwick's for me, though... gave up drinking for Lent.
