Two points for Denver in its final three regular season games clinch the MacNaughton Cup for the Pioneers. Go Denver! Beat Mankato!

Afternoon

I picked all but one of the WCHA games correctly last night. MN winning was the only one I didn't see. :o

Apparently Chile has disappeared off the map. Does this mean Haiti will be forgotten about as we all give donations for this new quake zone?

Also, is Hawaii going to disappear after the Tsunami at 4 ET?

I'm surprised that it was an 8.8 and so far only 100+ casualties.

And a co-worker's sister (whom I also used to work with) is in HI right now, in the warning area. Hopefully everything will turn out fine.

The government hasn't even given an official number yet. So I am sure that will go way up. Although they are still in summer/vacation season so that may reduce the number of people who were in the affected area.

Oh and this is all just a warm up for 2012.

So Ralph and Patman,
We're planning to come out to DC in about a month (spring break). Where would you recommend a family of 3 stay? I'm assuming the burbs on a rail line is better than trying downtown. We'll likely be in the DC area for a few days then rent a car and drive up to PA. Thanks!

You've gotten all of the answers already. :) There are advantages to being downtown, and there are advantages to being somewhere in the suburbs. IMO, the thing to avoid is driving downtown every day. Since it sounds like you won't be having bringing your car, you won't be doing the one thing that one should avoid which is driving downtown every day.

I would stay downtown if the hotel prices and quality are comparable because you won't be spending as much time on the Metro that way. If you are in the burbs, I would recommend staying near a Metro stop since could be a pain getting to one, even if your hotel has a free shuttle.

Spring is the busiest season in DC, and weather-wise the best. There always are a lot of tourists here, but they peak at cherry blossom time in early April. Even so, there is a lot to see which disperses the tourists, as those who were here for the FF last year can probably attest to.

Maybe someone who understands Twitter can answer this...is Twitter open to all, or is there any privacy? I ask because Julia Mancuso tweeted that she was at the USA/FIN game and I tweeted back asking if she was going on Sunday. Someone ELSE responded, saying it depended upon how many times she mentioned her sponsors (because she was an evil sellout, apparently). If I send someone a message, anyone can read it?

I'm not sure I like this Twitter thing...

you can send direct messages. you can also set it so people you don't approve first can't read your tweets.

but sounds like you retweeted a public tweet...

(this of course is coming from someone who has yet to read the manual :p :o )

I hit reply. I guess that's public. Private messages are "direct messages" and can only be sent to people who are following you. And since Jerry Remy is following me now, I can send him a message :)

if you're going to have a pet, keep it on a leash.

Hey Mel, I got a questionable email from you today... Virus or something I should know about? I didn't click on anything in the email.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Yeah, PB! Do what mookie says!
grr. He's the one that needs to be kept on a leash. I'm apparently DD'ing him to the hockey game, as he's testing out some off-brand Evan Williams right now that has more alcohol in it.
