Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 101: Saturday Morning

Remember the part where ctf had to miss tWC?

Speaking of.. I decided today to resign from State Executive Council for a whole bunch of reasons, the main one being that I really just need to focus more on classes.
This means that.... I'll be at F5! :)
I know you're all just thrilled. ;)

But both of you were there for All-Nighter. :p

It sucks to withdraw (heh) from organizations you care about, but it's probably for the best. You can always join up once your GPA allows.

Sadly, I never saw 'diva. :( Sucks to be in the only sorority that doesn't do their statue on campus.

Well, I can't rejoin the SEC, but I plan on trying to restart BPA @ MTU next year.
The stress levels are just too high with the drama on the council. Seriously, there's enough drama in a sorority, and that's just enough for me to deal with. I don't need yet another situation like that.

Dealing with the same thing with my rugby team... There's three girls who have a vendetta against me, which truthfully hurts a lot
(& I seriously have never done anything to them, I haven't even been a b|tch in general), because I'm the one that started the team, and without my "encouragement/motivation", there definitely wouldn't be a team.

Wally,
A picture apparental taken from the hotel that you were staying at for the FF last year http://pqliving.com/?p=7679. The shot is in the direction of the Verizon Center. The Phone Booth is not high enough to be seen. I apologize if you weren't the one who stayed at the Hampton Inn.

It was I, good memory and good memories. We had fun down there and that pic is way different than when we were there. Looks clean there now:p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 101: Saturday Morning

I soooooooooooooooo want to travel right now. Unfortunately, it seems like nobody I know is able to travel now because of the sucky economy or their job (aka lack of free time). :(

There is sooooooooooooooo much to see/do in the world and I want to experience as much of it as I can.

All right, I can help you out. Tomorrow begins the big Chinese New Year here. Biggest holiday of the year. We're going to Bangkok for 3 days, then to the old French colonial capital of Luang Prabang for 4. I'll set up a slideshow for you when we get back. :)

PS -- As someone who grew up in a smallish town in Indiana, I find it bizarre to be saying things like, "And then we're going to Luang Prabang." :o

PPS -- When we first moved here, I was shocked at how many different places people flew to, all the time. But soon we figured out how close everything is. Taipei is a 90-minute flight; Hanoi is an hour; Bangkok 2 hours. So it sounds drastic, but all these crazy SE Asian destinations are no different, time-wise, than living in New York and saying you're flying to Boston or DC.

PPSS -- On top of all that, Hong Kong is a flippin' island. It's not like we can get in the car and drive somewhere for vacation. So you kind of have to fly, for anything.

When I participated in Boys' State in Mass way back when (1999) I remember hearing about all these bizarro state student councils for this or group for that... and I even got some mailers for these groups. All of this was freaking nuts... other people talked about the weird politics and campaigning involved. These were not the type of people I wanted running an ice cream stand. I mean, I can't even understand how people even consider those programs and groups serious in any light. I mean, honestly, nobody hears of those groups when you get older and all it is some all-star game of resume stuffers and other rich, connected, twits. Maybe its just when I'm involved in something its because I want to get something actually done or enjoy the experience... not do some sort of preening show of my own goodness. I'd rather do good than join groups which go through the motions of acting like they're doing good (not that I don't mind the occasional pat on the head).

I don't care if I'm insulting you in all this or not because my opinion still holds. Maybe what you're in is a higher level than I'm aware of and it actually means something... I dunno. It seems kinda pointless, showy, and more a means of being some weird social competition of who can most behave like political leaders.

Question for the Lodgeonians:

Did you ever see a llama, kiss a llama on the llama, llama's llama, tastes of llama, llama llama duck?

I know I'm still "young" and I'm not doing anything nearly as interesting as whatever you might be doing but I've run into a few "I never would have imagined I'd be" moments and a few "how the hell did I get here" times. Anything you're dealing with I have to imagine is on a whole different order. Would be nice to get there but I don't think I can do it from my position and industrial choices.

if only I were interested in financial stuff... good ol' Brownian motion and related high end financial math... I've got no doubt I could understand it... its just not my world and didn't realize it was a possible path for a person until really late in grad school... so much of life you just can't know unless somebody fills you in early on.

SE Asia seems interesting to me but then again I'm mostly interested in cut-rate Mens clothing when (if) I get thin and use that as a vacation excuse.

Don't you own a Junk? You could take your Junk. :D
You had to see that coming, eh.

heh... I really do have to figure out a long term plan for life... I'd like to do interesting things but I never ever gave thoughts to international stuff... I'm certainly not an internationalist but the idea that i'm close enough to access these things in life makes the idea of an adventure that much more appealing... then again I've been watching a fair amount of Top Gear and that sparks some of those thoughts.

My "long term" plan right now is to get stabilized in my new life and then start setting aside money for some form of property (condo/house)... my job doesn't send me anywhere unless its a conference and they are rather weary on international conferences. Then again, I could be doing something completely different in 10 years... I'm not wedded to the federal system ideal like others. I want to do interesting things.

My uncle nearly got deported by the Chinese recently... my mother tells me that his company didn't quite realize he needed a visa to travel. I can't wait to hear the full story (if I ever do).

edit: maybe I should give a call on this general subject some day.

Which is like winning the Special Olympics. ;)

Had to say it before someone else did
Haha, you wouldn't know any better. The closest you've got to something is Auburn Hills and that place sucks, mainly because of basketball. I absolutely love Plymouth/Canton and everything west of that (until you get past Brighton), but it has to be south of M59 and north of 94. Farmington Hills is nice, too.

Downtown Rochester isn't that far (20 mins maybe)...but it's really Edina-ish (as in, stuffy and overpriced ;)).

And Auburn Hills blows - Great Lakes Crossing is all they've got, and the novelty wore off five years ago.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 101: Saturday Morning

OK, wise Lodge members--what is your best cure for body aches? I've tried taking Aleve, but it didn't do much.
Stretch, rest, plus alternating heat and ice on where it hurts.

Sleep, on something soft and comfortable. Usually when I ache it's because I slept funny.
Sleep also helps.

:)

Evening, Lodge. Two hour naps are good, beans and rice are good... however, it's been a week after my drug test, and still no word from Crossmark.
