Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

Hello Lodge! Have to go out and buy the last of the Christmas presents this evening, then commence wrapping! Nothing like leaving stuff for the last minute (though some things have to be bought last minute). Also decide to commence Christmas cookie making tonight.

Went out and looked at the Christmas lights in the surrounding neighborhoods while it was snowing last night. Very romantic and very Christmas-y. :)
Mmmm, Christmas cookies!

Good morning Lodge.

Just got back from spending some time in class with little g at pre school. We made a kick azz gingerbread house. It was a blast! It was neat watching him interact with his peers in a classrooom setting. I cannot begin to express how proud I am of him and how impressed I was at the things he can do in that setting. Most of his classmates are really supportive and I didn't realize just how popular he is with his peers. (except one little jack bag that calls little g a retard)

Before that I met up with some friends for breakfast and before that I cleared the driveway. I like this not working gig. :)
Stories like this make me smile and realize the world's not entirely screwed up... :)

Since my wife doesn't have to work tomorrow and I've arranged my schedule so I don't have to work until next week, after breakfast tomorrow we'll pack the car and head for Christmas in Ski Country.

I know later this week lots of folks will be gathering in the LODGE OBSERVATION TOWER to keep their eyes on the skies. Here are some celestial coordinates you might want to have handy. noradsanta.org

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!!
And a Merry Christmas to you too!

Evening, Lodge. Can Christmas be over with? Please?

Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

I'm off until the 30th, which is my only day that week. :D
Watching Waiting for Guffman....Eugene Levy is a genius.

Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

First batch of Christmas cookies are done. Burnt some of them as I think the oven was too hot...but there's still 30 or so and there's 3 more types of cookies to be made. Since there will be, at maximum, 7 people for Christmas and there will be apple pie and potentially amaretto cheesecake, I think it'll be okay.

All my shopping done...finally!!

I'm confused, too.

Granted, I only buy two presents nowadays (one for each niece), but:

1. Target
2. Christmas Eve
3. Walk in as soon as they unlock those doors.

Problem solved within 20 minutes, at best. Most of that time finding the noisiest toys I can get, to annoy my brother/SIL. :D

What are you going to do when they age out of toys? (my first thought was buy those clothes that are for 25 yr olds that 12 yr olds wear...)

Good morning boys and girl. (legal I hope things are mending!)

All hail the Christmas Queen! :)

Here's a heart-warming story. Last night I met my wife downtown after work for the big Christmas shopping trip. (The kids were being watched.) I got downtown half an hour early. Plenty of time for a beer, wouldn't you say? I ducked into the first place I came to. It was early, so there were only eight or ten people there, all at tables. No one at the bar. Great, I'll just sit at the bar, with plenty of room. (Side note: The world can be divided into two kinds of people: the sit-at-a-table types, and the sit-at-the-bar types.) I ordered a pint, and was just at that point of wondering "gosh, I wonder if I should get a little something to nibble on," when out of the blue THREE GUYS carrying big plates of food appeared from the back, and set it all down right next to me on the bar. I said to the female barkeep (Filipina, if Mookie's reading), "Is this free?" She said, "Yes, happy hour, all free." So I got with my beer a free plate of little fried chicken nuggets, phyllo triangles, egg rolls, and mini roast beef sandwiches -- free! -- and hot and fresh. IT WAS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE.

That first sentence made me happy. The second sentence reminded (as if I would forget) that there was a message on my answering yesterday at home to call to make an appointment for a colonoscopy, which didn't exactly make me happy.

They ran out of the sleeves that you use to keep your hand from burning when holding a cup of coffee at the cafeteria here. Thankfully someone had the brilliant idea to put the cup inside another cup.

The prep is the worst unless you wake up during:).
