Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

Les maxed my rep on this post at 12-17-2010 05:46 AM CST. I thought I remember Ralph keeping track of this info.

Edit: Ah yes, I read up a few posts. Indeed, les, I was not brilliant before. I made sure to check early yesterday because I knew I was getting close and figured someone would rep me today.

Edit 2: Slap shot had the first assist on 12-14-2010 06:48 PM CST. The post was and his comment was "But not too lazy to be a dumbass? ;) jk Slap SHot"

Greyeagle had the second assist on 12-11-2010 01:11 PM CST. The post was and his comment was "lol...well done. ge / sean"

All duly noted. :) Congrats.

Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

My wife and I are looking forward to this weekend as we have some family events planned.

There's no college hockey in Denver for a while as DU won't be playing until New Year's Eve and New Year's Night against Northern Michigan. However, my wife and I have hockey of another sort we'll be seeing this week. One of my wife's brothers-in-law works for a company which has a luxury suite at the Pepsi Center. He has the use of the suite this evening when the Colorado Avalanche hosts the Ottawa Senators. We have a grand night awaiting us as eight family members will be going to the game. Great food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and a wonderful dessert cart are all part of the evening's fare. While the Avs aren't world-beaters right now, on Wednesday night they completed a home and home sweep of the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks. The Avs won at home Monday night 7-5 and in Chicago 4-3 with recently acquired Tomas Fleischmann scoring his first NHL hat trick in the third period.

On Sunday morning my wife and I are throwing our annual family brunch at which twenty-four family members will be gathering. Because various members of the family go their separate ways for Christmas, my wife has always liked to have a brunch a week or so before Christmas at which time we can gather as a family. My wife and I will be two of the folks heading our own way for Christmas as we're going to Colorado ski country for several days on the slopes at Breckenridge and Vail starting midweek next week. We were in Breck last weekend with five, twenty-five year olds staying with us for three days and nights and had a blast. The conditions on the mounatin were absolutely fantastic. In the more than forty years I've lived in Colorado I do not remember a year this early in the ski season when the conditions were as good as they were last weekend. And another 5 to 10 inch storm is headed for Summit County today and tonight. We're blessed to have some fun events on our schedule in the next week or two. We're looking forward to them. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.:)

There could be a couple of DU players playing against RPI on Sunday afternoon. Video of the game will be available at cost from B2 (aka America One), and the student radio station WRPI will be broadcasting audio on line.

Ralph, I think Drew Shore [soph.] and Jason Zucker [fresh.] both of whom have had strong first halves of the season, are the players of whom you are speaking.

It's the last Friday that I am working.
That's enough outta you... :p

He stood before the pearly gates
His face was scarred and old
He meekly asked the man of fate
Admission to the fold
"What have you done?" St. Peter asked, "to gain admittance here?"
"I have worked my tail off for many, many years!"
The pearly gates swung open wide
As St. Peter rang the bell
"Come in my friend and rest" he said
"You've had you share of he__!"

Yes, they are. :) Since there are something like 29 players currently on the roster, one can't be sure who will be playing.

A roster of 29 players? No problem. You dress three goalies and they each play a period. You dress eight defensemen [four pairings] and they each play five minutes a period. You dress 18 forwards [six lines] and they each play.....what......about twelve seconds apiece the entire game?;)

I agree. It's a complete crapshoot as to who plays in any given game with so large a roster. I think the team plays North Dakota on Saturday. It's a good guess some of the kids who don't dress/play against NoDak will dress/play versus RPI. I hope you get to watch the action and enjoy the game.

Afternoon, Lodgers.

Anyone else having trouble getting into the Christmas/Holiday spirit this year? It's normally my favorite season with friends, family, food, giving gifts, etc, but this year I feel like a total Grinch/Scrooge. :(

Actually, there are only 2 goalies.

Last year they played North Dakota, not this year. They are in Troy already. Some of the RPI fans on USCHO watched their open practice this morning. Schedule :http://www.rpiathletics.com/news/2010/12/14/MHOCK_1214100419.aspx

Got all of my christmas shopping done, but honestly, for me, it really doesn't become Christmas til I make a trip to Alabama this time of year. Not getting to go to the D2 championship game this year.:(

Oh well, local bar in town opens at 11, right in time for kickoff. Not happy with the Early kickoff. :p

I've had the whole month of December off! :p

Actually, I am. I've done my Christmas cards, planned a nice meal, and have watched the Charlie Brown Christmas special twice, but I'm really struggling to get in the mood. For what it's worth, there are days when I just want to hide in my room, barrel of Utz's pretzels in hand, and just sob.

I think part of it is that I haven't finished my Christmas cards (though I've done the Christmas specials) and we have the meals all planned. I had a huge fight with my sister over Thanksgiving which might be unconsciously shadowing the going home part of Christmas.

Edit - and Bob, I'm sure that some it may still be part of the grieving process, I wouldn't beat yourself up over feeling that way.

Good afternoon Lodge.

Funny story about little g. Whenever the g family travels to Bemidji to watch BSU games we will have grandma g watch the boys. (I have a niece who is almost three who lives in Bemidji and also spends time at grandmas house.) During one of the visits little g found a Barbie doll. Long story short, when you ask little g what he wants for Christmas his first response is "a Barbie doll wearing no clothes". :D

Welcome to the last three years of my life.

"Yay, Christmas....uh, yeah"

Doesn't help that radio stations and shopping malls now shove the season down our throats starting November 1st.

Good to hear you're raising them well. :D

::raises hand:: I have not done cards, and given the late date will not be doing them. I did start some shopping. Hoping to plow through the rest of it this weekend. I did not put my tree up. It's here in my living room, but still in its box. No motivation to put it up. Not sure if I'm going to either.

Dad and I just got our tree today - a nice big balsam fir. I have a Christmas party tonight too, and I need to figure out specifics of that shindig.

Guess I'm getting dragged into the Christmas spirit whether I like it or not.

You better find him an anatomically correct doll or he's going to be very confused one day...
