Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

I started this a couple years ago with my family. Told them to buy a poor kid a toy, or donate to a charity. I was really souring on the whole dam season because of the commercialism involved, and finally said screw it, I'm not playing that game anymore. I don't buy presents, I won't accept presents. Period.

My family, in their annual futile attempt to get me to change my mind, asked if they could get or make me anything this year. My response? "Ok, fine. Make sure there's an extra radish on my plate this year." :D

always accept food :)

I keep asking for "whatever you would think of that a single nerd male wouldn't think of"... because frankly I am a single nerd male and I will forget things I ought to have or should acquire... each year when I leave that open-ended... total strikeout.

To be honest, next christmas, I may just say, "I don't need a **** thing... help me figure out X" where X is something that men are terrible at... mostly fashion... I would kill for advice on one or two good hats, a good pair of gloves, and a good scarf. Those things don't necessarily depend upon my weight... each year I ask... each year... *BUZZER*

edit: maybe I should post this in the alcohol thread... anybody know any good books on beermaking. I'm going to get one of those silly Mr. Beer things for Xmas but this is a novice prelude to maybe doing the real deal. Work is nothing more than an opportunity to finance things I want to do and try... I think beer is something to shoot for in the next year or so.

Hats: whatever you think you like, it's good. Fashion? I hope you're not dumb enough to not get if you look good in bright colors or dark colors. Me? I look good in darker shades, and adjust accordingly. I don't wear the bright yellows, reds, blues. I wear the black, navys, purples, etc. Scarves are for pussies, yuppies, etc. Gloves? Unless you're tailgating, go for leather. If you're tailgating, go for Thinsulate. Either way, black, sleek, and that's about it.

Next?

Ello Lodge. Not sure if you all follow the news but today in Marinette (the town where I work) a student took 23 other students and a teacher hostage at the high school... after about 5 hours, all were released. The gunman shot himself but that's all they know now. There were also 2 unrelated armed robberies in the county today too.
Definitely freaked me out. The ratio of watching the TV to actually waiting on tables at Applebee's in Marinette tonight was pretty unbelieveable.

Palmer, John J. How to Brew. Boulder, CO: Brewers Publications, 2006.

Pretty much gives everything you'd ever want to know about brewing, and a lot you will never, ever care about until you start your own regional brewery.

Glad you're safe - freaky story.

One tiny bit of humor to come of the situation is an example of CNN's research excellence.
[The MI/WI border is 10 minutes, if that, from where the high school is]
"Law enforcement officers from all around Wisconsin, and some from as far away as Michigan, eventually joined the effort."

To be fair, quite a few people don't consider Menominee, Iron, Dickinson, and Gogebic Counties to be 100% Michigan. Maybe they sent some cops from Esky? ;)

Good Morning, MEUSA! :)
Good Moning (Night?) to FtB&G! :)

Good Morning to the rest of tLodge! :)

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

Took you long enough to answer the question for ladies only posed so long ago. :D
I knew I could count on you to have a bad mind.

Good Morning boys and girl.

GOOD MORINING EVERYONE!! terrible tuesday. ugh.
After being back to normal for the last few days the colors are dancing around (scroll for the color and the grid gets spaces and the colors shift) when I try to pick them again. Why does that happen only some time?

I am learning more about midwest geography here than an easterner would ever care about. :D

Thinking about worthless information, Jacob Baer, the father of the boxer Max Baer and the grandfather of the actor Max Baer, Jr., was born in Red Jacket (now Calumet) in the Michigan UP. (I am not related, but that is why I looked for this information.)

Morning!

Informational interview today to move to a different department (yay!). I am dying to get out of the group I am in now.

So by deduction, anyone born or living in Calumet is a red coat and should be shot? :D

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

:D

It just took me 1 hour and 10 minutes to place an order for 1 book and one DVD on Borders.com. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I was too cheap to pass up an 18$ savings but boy am I aggravated. WHat is the likelihood I will use Borders.com again- less than my finding a million bucks in my bank account.

ANd in cool news. I got my hair chopped and am sending a big hank to Locks of Love- they take the hair and make wigs out of it for kids with Cancer and other medical illnesses. My hair is now chin length. I feel kinda bald.
Nice! I'm thinking about chopping mine off, but I'm not sure it's long enough to donate. Haven't had a haircut in over a year now and I'm itching to get it short again. Have to find a place up here that will do it though.

Has to be 10 inches of hair. You can send it yourself. I googled Locks of Love and they have the directions and address.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

**** traffic, **** weather and **** stupid people that can't figure out how to combine the 2.
It took me an hour and a half to drive my 20 minute commute this morning, I never got over 10mph. I am about ready to shoot someone.

Patman: Re hats, I prefer Stetson, but Resistol makes a fine hat also. I have a 5X, but if you don't want to spend that kind of money, a 3X is just fine.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

You keep your birth certificate in your wallet?

That's what I thought. Way to make it easy for whomever found/stole it to keep making up fake IDs in your name, forever...

What a lovely day to fly to Grand Forks, ND. There are NO hotels/motels near the GF International Airport. How is that an international airport - other than the fact you can see Canada from the tower?

Tomorrow morning I drive to New Rockford, ND - a flyspeck on the map. Then after work on site I drive to the Fargo airport to fly home. Isn't business travel exciting?

I have to drive to Grand Forks next week, exciting is not the word I'd go with.

Nope its not, even when you fly to interesting places. One of my relatives flies regularly to France, China, Russia, etc. Yet it's still not fun.
