Quinnipiac Bobcats 2023-24 Regular Season - Embrace the grind

The ECAC is abysmal in non-conference. Atlantic Hockey has passed the ECAC. Time to lobby to get into Hockey East. If Q loses 2-3
ECAC games….we’ll drop out of top 16 in Pairwise. ECAC is embarrassing!

Nice 2 wins against Princeton. Friday night was the offense we always expect and a hard fought win on Saturday. Saturday's game was similar to Periods 2 & 3 of Friday nights game. I was in attendance at Princeton. Always fun to go to Hobey Baker rink. Big series this weekend since it looks like Cornell woke up. As mentioned above ECAC is weak. Need revenge for last year.

Is Chip McDonald officiating this game?? HEAT A BS CALL. We’re like the Oakland /Las Vegas Raiders….always playing TWO OPPONENTS

I didn't love that being called a major. Looked like Legault's hands wrote up his chest into his head. If it's 2, that's fine. I don't think that's a major.

But then they missed the trip at the start of the PK -- that was a killer, too.

Fact of the matter is, our goaltending just isn't good enough this year. That was a terrible goal to give up from Marinov. We've let in far too many weak goals between Duplessis and Marinov.

Couldn’t agree more…..haven’t seen so many soft goals allowed ever. I think they were late into the transfer portal game on goalies not knowing Peret’s intentions

I broke it down earlier this season here -- we've had elite, elite goaltending for almost all of the last 20 years. Hopefully Marinov develops better in the future, or we add another stud soon.

The championship defense, for many reasons, was never going to be easy. We lost a ton of talent while we were all celebrating, and I imagine preparations for the season -- both from coaches and returning players -- were a little weird with all the events they were asked to do. Honestly, remaining a top-10 team all season, getting to the tournament, and reaching a regional final would be a spectacular result from this season. Repeating is very difficult and considering all the talent we lost, a Frozen 4 is probably too much to ask for.

Quinnipiac isn't exactly helping the ECAC with its non-conference schedule. I'm assuming with your National Championship in future you will be able to schedule more teams from the tougher leagues against whom your record is 3-3-1. Cornell has done its part with a 5-0-2 non-conference schedule.

As bad as the weekend was, we only fell to 8th in the PWR. But I have the perfect remedy to set things straight for the stretch run: #BeatYale on Friday night!

We've played BC, BU, and Maine in non-conference. We had a really good non-conference schedule. Every eastern team in the current top 8 of the USCHO poll. 3-3-1 isn't bad considering who we've played.

And 2 of those losses were in 3:3 OT (which I hate). I would rather just play 5:5 or end in a tie. Shootout is dumb as well. Fun for fans.

What a weird game. I thought we were really good, just couldn't finish. Dominated Yale, as well we should with the massive talent differential between teams. We just look like a team that's lost its confidence. Bouncing pucks, passes just off line ... we just need something good to happen out there. Hopefully winning this game was the break they needed to break out of the funk.

I love this event, but I hate it at XL Center. Maybe in a few years as it gets bigger it'll work there, but this thing works so much better in a rocking sold-out barn. Even if there were 5,000 people there tonight, it just feels cavernous. The XL Center, obviously, has a rich hockey history so I understand why they want it there, but let's sell out Sacred Heart's arena, or Yale's rink, our arena, or even at UConn. All four rinks are perfectly sized for an event like this, and it'll feel like such a bigger game with the barn rocking and sold out. Hopefully when this event gets bigger in a few years it outgrows those rinks and we can move it back to XL, but it should really be at on-campus rinks.

Once again we need a power play. Not scoring on the 5 on 3 gave Yale momentum and confidence. Of course their goalie stood on his head all night otherwise it could have been a rout.

I like the campus sights too. Unfortunately UConn's new barn only hold 2500 so they'll want the XL (this is their year to host). There's 2 years left in the campus rotation and nothing set when that ends. Hopefully something can be worked out.

Must suck to be the only fan here on USCHO of Andy Bernard’s favorite team huh? I’ve never even seen one Cornell thread EVER on here lol. You’re a lonely old man

Agreed we need a powerplay it is hurting us in those close games.

As for the CT ICE hate the seating at the XL center center and I love for it to be in the various campus arenas but I am not looking forward to trying to get tickets the next 2 years. I am afraid we will be in the same situation as others were last year at QU where there were not enough tickets and everyone was complaining. If there were 5000+ at the first game about 2000 of those would not get tickets to an on campus event and add on top those who only showed up for the second game and there will be a lot of unhappy fans. I am not sure what the solution is.

For some reason I thought they had a multi-year deal to do this at XL. Glad I'm wrong. Attendance was listed at nearly 4,700.

I think the solution is, at Martire, the Bank, or the Whale, do it on Saturday and Sunday & have split gates. Do the games at 3 & 7:30, you can split the admissions and you should be able to fit fans of all four teams. Obviously, fans who wanted to watch all the games would be paying more which isn't ideal, but you'd be able to get more fans in the doors that way.

Keep in mind that last year QU gave tickets to season ticket holders as part of their package. That severely limited tickets for general sale. I would assume the other schools are doing the same.

The only thing I like about the XL this weekend is the ticket prices. At $23.00 for all session tix makes it much more affordable when compared to Bridgeport. That price is likely tied to UConn's deal with the arena. If the XL becomes the permanent home those prices will surely go up.

I agree that this tourney needs to be Sat-Sun to make it more accessible for fans. Early Friday games are hard for lots of people (waving hand).

You must have a short memory because the last time you tried this exact shtick, one of the other QU fans on this thread pointed out that Cornell fans have their own active forum and basically rebuked you for being an ignoramous.

So I was just poking around the Pairwise rankings.

Right now we are ranked 8th in the Pairwise.

Minnesota is 9th.

I know things will change, it's still early -- what it is now is almost certainly not what it will be when the tournament begins. But can you imagine a Quinnipiac-Minnesota rematch in the first round in either Providence or Springfield? My goodness, that would be really something.

I saw that on Twitter / X yesterday. Same region (Providence) as BC & Minn St. That would be a heck of a bracket.
