Quinnipiac Bobcats 2022-23: The Quest Continues...

5 SOG allowed. For the entire game. Incredible. Yale is truly terrible. Kind of sad to see how far (most of) the Ivies fell after not playing in 2020-21. Hopefully we take care of business tomorrow and avoid injuries. The real postseason begins next week.

Not for nothing but Yale was trending down long before COVID, especially against us.

It'll be interesting to see how tomorrows game pans out as Yale got a bit chippy tonight. The refs did a decent job keeping things in check but things got heated a few times.

Their season is probably ending tomorrow night. It's gonna get nasty, it always does. Just have to hope for no injuries.

Exactly, need to stay away from scuffles. One key player gets drawn into the wrong situation and it could mean a suspension for next week or an injury. Yale appears to want to damage QU for their run, even if they can’t win the scoreboard battle. Yale is a bad team. ICE was tilted all night and Pearson kept the score somewhat respectable.

IMO Yale got robbed on a goal though watching the replay the referee did wave it off immediately so he must have seen the puck entering the net but after the whistle blew. Good for Yanni for his 20th SO (Sophomore).

As Mark would say “Beat Yale” then on to Lake Placid to git’er done!

Yale tried a little harder tonight and even score twice, but in they end they were outclassed all weekend. The game wasn't as chippy as I thought it might be but there were some moments. Metsa with a big 3 point night (1 G, 2 A), Graf with a laser on the PP, De Jong with a shortie, Quillan cleaning up the trash, Lombo with a deflection, and Tellier on the beautiful feed in front from Lee. I'm sure Yaniv wants those 2 goals back but it didn't matter at the buzzer.

On to Lake Placid against Colgate!

Semifinal schedule in Lake Placid - Friday

Quinnipiac vs Colgate at 4pm
Harvard vs Cornell at 7:30pm

I just purchased my tickets for both days and it appears there aren't many seats left. If you plan on going this weekend, I strongly urge you to buy your tickets now. Don't wait!

For those interested, in order for us to hop Minnesota it appears all that really needs to happen is Minnesota must lose to Michigan, North Dakota must win at least their semi final game and we need to win the Whitelaw. With RIT eliminated, the #1 overall seed is much more attractive now then before, as Canisius and Holy across are 43 and 44 in the Pairwise. The other thing to watch is if NoDak gets up to #15 and knocks out Alaska and we stay on the #2 overall seed, we may get shipped out to Fargo (NoDak has to play in Fargo if they are in the tourney) unless they make a swap for attendance purposes.

Yea I’m getting ahead, but interesting nonetheless

As the #2 seed we won't get sent to Fargo.

We hope not, but it would require them making a change, which some past bracketology predictions had them not making when we were in Penn States region. Ultimately I believe we play in Bridgeport, but would love to not worry about the committee going “out of their way” to make it happen.

I think it's only a possibiity IF NoDak wins the NCHC AND we lose in the championship game in Placid. I know we can get to #1 but I don't know if we can actually lose the #2 seed.

20% chance at the 1, 75% chance at the two, 5% chance for the 3.

CHN runs circles around USCHO when it comes to the Pairwise. Their “you be the committee” tool lets you choose the outcomes this weekend and see how it affects the final Pairwise. I assume if we beat Colgate, the chance of us dropping to #3 evaporates

The bottom line for QU getting the #1 is this. QU must win the tourney, MN must lose to Mich.

If Minnesota loses you need to cheer for any of the following -Holy Cross, North Dakota beats SCSU, Northern Michigan and for Harvard to beat Cornell. If MN loses you actually have an excellent chance at the #1 if you win the tourney, better than 75%. Ironically the run Holy Cross has made is one of the big reasons you have any chance. Since you played HC it's boosting your RPI each time they win. QU has a great chance to be the first team to have the lowest SOS of anyone in the top 20 and finish #1 in the pairwise (ok, that maybe a subtle jab, but you all know I respect QU in all seriousness). The irony about the SOS is, A) I think that people will discount this team due to schedule and B) I think that allows QU to fly a little under the radar nationally which isn't a bad thing for them. If anyone takes them lightly, it's a big mistake. The most important teams for MN are Canisius, Minn St. and SCSU. If SCSU wins the NCHC that's going to be the best chance they have to maintain over QU should they lose to Michigan.

Funny thing about the SOS is here are the 8 games we got to schedule this year: at BC, home LIU, at NoDak (2), at Maine (2) at Holy Cross and at LIU.

Cant help that BC and NoDak had down years but we scheduled 7 away games and 1 home game. The entire state of Minnesota (aside from you) is laughing at us, and if I know Rand like I think I know Rand (I don’t know Rand) he’s using all that noise to keep them hungry. Good thing is it will all play out in a couple weeks haha

I'm pretty sure there are 20 guys and a coach in addition to me who are not laughing from MN. :)
