Quinnipiac Bobcats 2021-22 - Let's get this party started!

Good luck to the Bobcats the rest of the way as well. You guys have a very good team, and I fully anticipate QU making another run this season. Hopefully we're both still playing hockey in late March/April, and then we can have the rubber match with some hardware on the line! : )
Thanks! A rematch in Boston would be sweet..

Two additional notes:

1) The UND fans that attended this weekend were nice, typical hockey fans. The few I interacted with were pleasant and quite impressed with our barn. Not what we're used to seeing... some visiting fans are just arrogant and obnoxious.

2) I thought the black sweaters UND wore last night were sweet!

Wasn't able to watch this weekend, so exciting to see how good we seem to look. Hoping this is the start of a fun season in Hamden!

I would say that was a pretty fair assessment of the weekend. QU probably carried more of the play each evening, although I thought UND was better in this regard on Saturday. Too many penalties by UND on Friday had the two-fold effect of forcing their top guys to spend energy killing penalties, and also interrupted any chance they had to get some flow going. Did a little better job staying out of the box on Saturday.

I thought sort of an unsung hero for UND on Saturday was Connor Ford. He was about the only center who could reliably win a faceoff, and was sent out during all of the big moments, including the penalty kills and at the end of the game. That was a part of the game we've historically been very good at, but this year not so much. It shows, especially on special teams, if you end up chasing the puck all night.

I expected, and expect some rough patches for the team in the first half of this year as all the new players sort of figure out their roles, but it was good to get a win against a quality opponent on the road. Hopefully we meet again this season.

Poor showing for a #5 team tonight. Seemed sloppy most of the game. Never established any flow.

Perets apparently got injured near the end of the 1st. He left the game and didn't come back. St Cyr was OK but he scares me at times with how aggressively he plays the puck.

McGee had a beautiful rebound into an open net to tie the game at 2. De Jong rang iron on a breakaway in OT.

Need to put the hammer to the Yellow Jackets tomorrow.

I logged on to write almost the exact same post as Mark. Sloppy and lazy the whole game. I hope they wake up for tomorrow.

I'm with you on St. Cyr. I am much more comfortable with Perets in net.

I can only wonder if this is still a UND hangover. If so, Rand needs to find a way to adjust. Playing to the level of your competition is dangerous. As we saw last night. You need to beat good teams and pound bad teams. Hopefully they put AIC away early and get focused for Yale. Hope Perets is ok.

To be fair to the team, it's also October. There are bound to be off-weekends, especially when facing a bad team after what had been, to date, a very strong start to the year.

Wasn't AIC nationally ranked in the year before covid ?

Their 5 losses are also against QU, BC, Prv, and UMass(2). So it’s not like they didn’t have experience playing good teams. They are probably better than their record shows

Chase Priskie will make his NHL debut tonight with the Florida Panthers. Game can be seen on ESPN+ @ 7:00.

Good luck Chase!

That's great. I think he's been on the Checkers/Panthers shuttle 3 or 4x this season already. Be great to see him do well, especially being a home town kid.
Good Luck Chase.

Totally agree. They are also well coached as well. I think the takeaway is that Quinnipiac didn't lose a game last weekend. While a sweep would have been better losing would have hurt so we take the tie and win and move to the next weekend.

Always good to beat Yale but we really need to find our offense AND get a power play. We're putting lots of rubber on net but can't seem to get it in the net. On the power play we're passing way to much. Everyone knows we're going to try for the one-timer from either side and everyone's been ready for it... time to try something new. Put a body in front and shoot the puck!

Next comes the scariest game of the season. For some reason the Brown road game after a Yale game is always a nightmare.

I think the the offense is a major concern right now. They are not going to win games just with their defense as they need to score goals. Against Yale you can get away like that but not against better teams.

This reminds me a bit of the ‘18 team that would pepper the goalie with shots but not hit spots. Defense is a ton better than that team. Perets looked good but only faced 12 shots in 60 mins. There seemed to be times when The puck was in Yale’s end so long he could have napped.

Pecknold’s successful teams I think had a bigger net presence. They would get the Greasy goal off a scum or rebound. I don’t see that from this team yet. I agree the PP is looking for the Perfect Bomb. Unless Tufto and Priske come back, that’s not happen with this group. They have size and skill. Love to see them crash the net more and make the goalies more uncomfortable. Nothing bad to say about the D, they look good even in bad games. Today could be an interesting game.

On an aside, sucked seeing an empty arena for a Yale v. QU game.
