Quinnipiac Bobcats 2021-22 - Let's get this party started!

If I'm not mistaken doesn't the Belfast tourney allow us 2 addition games on the schedule? That would certainly help to beef up the OOC stuff provided the right teams are chosen.

It's important to remember that some OOC games are scheduled very late in order to fill empty dates on the calendar. That somewhat limits the available competition.

Until the 4 lower Ivy's get back up to speed, the ECAC as a whole will remain somewhat weak from a PWR viewpoint. I still say finishing 8th in the pairwise was pretty remarkable with the way the overall league performed.

What helped us was we didn't suffer one bad loss all season long. The six losses heading into the NCAAs were to teams ranked 23 or higher in the PW. We beat or tied all the lousy teams on the schedule. Had we had just one bad loss, our pairwise would've certainly dropped considerably.

As for the Friendship Four, if I remember correctly, the last time we were in it in 2016-17 our opening round game against SLU was considered a league game. Might be the same next season with Dartmouth also in the tourney. Hockey East foes UMass Amherst and UMass Lowell are the other two schools in the bracket.

I think they scrapped the league game aspect the last time, it would be nice to face Lowell or Amherst in game one with the chance to face the other or Dartmouth in game 2. I don’t like losing home dates to tournament games :).

1:25 is way too late to pull a goalie. I know that's what other coaches do, but those coaches aren't doing the right thing. Rand does this sort of thing all the time. If you pull the goalie with 3 minutes left, you may have a 25% chance of scoring. If you do it with 1 minute left, you have under a 10% chance. It's a major difference. Rand went for broke. If it works, he's a genius. If it doesn't work, he's the goat. It didn't work, but it was still the right move. He was asked postgame if he regretted it, and he gave a one-word, two-letter answer. The guy has over 1,000 wins. He knows what he was doing.

Was talking pulling the goalie around the 2 minute mark.

(Yes, that rarely works, but pulling the goalie with 4+ to go NEVER seems to work.)

And -no offense intended- but please post a link. I'm interested.

Yani confirmed to be returning next season. Let’s run it back!

Not surprised. He’s the real deal but I think he takes a hit for being in the ECAC. CHN picked McKay and Levi for 1st/2nd team honors. Plus he knows going into next year, he’s the guy.

That and he barely faced a ton of shots on sone nights.

I get the desire to win at all costs but I’m also a bit of a traditionalist. QU is known as a 4 year program, most if not all graduated, got good grades and some got Masters degrees. I don’t think either Rand or Greg would be up for a rent a player scenario. One of the things that impressed me the most was in 2018, when my daughter got her MBA, Chris Thrule walked across the stage to get his. It was a year after he left the program.

My suggestion was not a total change in philosophy. Rand's recruiting has served us well. And we are not going to ever be able to do what Michigan does in recruiting anyway. All I am asking for is a couple of higher picks sprinkled in. IMHO in a season like this with a team like this one, that could have made the difference for finally winning a national championship.

And looked a bit more mortal towards the end of the season.

Very happy he will be back.

So did the defense. More breakaways and. Odd rushes. He was pretty solid on most of them. He’ll be a good one!
