Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

I am no expert on college hockey, admittedly. Without breakaway speed up front, you have no separation and there always seems to be a jam-up in the crease. sam and mathew changed the math by stretching things out enough to create room for shots, rebounds. devin moore intrigues me, but his slight stature concerns me so I can see waiting to use him in special situations - but, i do not see him used very much at all and wonder, why not? This certainly would not make a difference in how this year pans out, but I would give up on this year to get the kids some game time and loosen up Rand, the refs have issues and ECAC knows it and is working to get better. Rand, find some joy in making a living running one of the best college hockey programs in the country. Not many people can make a living doing what they love doing. This year you have to relax not tighten the ropes. Sorry for preaching a bit, but we all are frustrated. Mark, Z Yank - - I know I came on bit hard earlier this year. You are patient, good fans. We now shift into recruiting mode, and this tam has to learn how to have fun playing hockey again.

I agree with you and also disagree with you -- this is not a good hockey team right now, but their shot% is 7%. That's unsustainability-low, and has to turn around at some point. Even the worst offensive teams shoot better than 7%.

So yes, this isn't a very good team at the moment, but I do think they'll figure things out at some point.

As for your comment about looking forward, this is where I disagree. Every team makes the ECAC Tournament, and while it's highly unlikely, we absolutely have something to play for in February and March. If that shot% flips around in time, this team still has potential to get some wins and surprise some people. Obviously that's the only track to the NCAA's this year, at this point. Too much damage has already been done. I'd be surprised if this team made a run in the ECAC's, but you play to win until they say you can't play anymore, especially in college hockey.

I would suspect you guys will have a role-reversal compared to past years...you will finish up towards the middle to bottom half. However, teams will hate to play you in the first round of ECAC tournament. You guys have almost always played your best hockey there albeit you had better teams before. My observations were tons of chances but lack of finishers and also somewhat "loose" plays with possession in your D zone leading to turnovers. If the Big Green were a bit better offensively those TO would/could have been goals in the first period. Good Luck the rest of the way and see you in Hanover!

Streaming for Maine games? Free or ripoff? :)

Not sure what to expect anymore. Tonight will be two similar teams having similar struggles. I guess it will come down to which teams shows up on the ice. We absolutely need a good weekend going into the break. Hopefully the last home stand of the year will be kind to us.

Go Q!

These teams are mirror images of one another. Both have good goaltending (Shortridge and Swayman). Both with Jeckyll and Hyde offenses though Maine probably is a bit better. Both have struggled at times on defense but Quinnipiac probably has the better talent on the blue line. I'd say a split is what to expect.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Welp.

Needless to say, that can't happen. It just can't. You can't take a 3-0 lead only to allow 7 of the last 8 goals of the game. Inexcusable. I don't care how many shots they pour on net, you can't win if you refuse to defend. Just terrible. I'll say it again. At some point you are what your record says you are. This remains a bad hockey team.

This team is bad and not going to get better this year. First time since 2005-2006 being under .500 at the end of 1st half of season and first time allowing 7 goals in a game since Feb 20th 2010

Quoted Bill Parcells....So true this team is bad. They have terrible 3rd and 4th lines. Basically to me they have 2 top 6 players in my opinion. Landon Smith who is graduating and Odeen Tufto who will probably get there by the end of the year. Tonight's performance was a disgusting mess.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Credit to Maine for never giving up. The D and Shortridge completely unraveled in the 3rd. Total meltdown and an ugly performance.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

the only way this season becomes worthwhile is getting ice time for the rest of the guys and expense of the seniors who have not shown ability to elevate the play of the rest of the players.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Ughh I don't know what to say about last nights game. They started out like a house on fire for the first 10 min 16 shots on net and 3 goals. They take a break for a commercial and ice cleaning and a whole different team hits the ice. fist 10 min they spent most of it the Maine end after that not so much. They had their chances but things just would not drop and Shortridge started OK but looked shaky and never got over the jitters. I have tickets for the game tonight but its snowing and I am not sure I want to brave the storm to see them play might just catch it on the internet.
