Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Agreed. Realistically we need to sweep all 6 points... I'll settle for 4. Anything less and the rest of the season becomes a struggle.

I certainly don't have the answers so I can only hope the staff does. For now I think we need to ride Shortridge because the truth is we've played better in front of him . Some of that may be him picking up the rest of the team but whatever the reason we're better with him in net.

I think the effort has been there but the results aren't anywhere close to where they need to be. Just keep digging and grinding it out. If it's merely a run a bad luck it should work itself out. If not, we're in for a long season.

Go Q!

Agreed anything less than 4 points will make things struggle.

Shortridge has been good in goal and I think he has earned a spot in goal for the foreseeable future.

Again Agreed the effort is there they have been putting shots on net and not all fluff shots but decent chances but the bounces / secondary shot has not been there. if it is a string of bad luck I hope it get straitened out before the Dec Break followed by 7 strait away games in Jan. if not that could hurt.

That was fun to watch. Very good effort by the boys tonight. Nice way to bounce back from the weekend. Keep the momentum going for the coming homestand.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

this evening, this club put it together. they were focused and defense was imposing to the point some frustrations manifested in the corners but the boys maintained strong play. you forget watching them play, these are a bunch of freshman and sophomores....defense really stepped up.

They can get the job done if they focus and do the little things. There seemed to be more cohesion out there last night, to the point you could actually sense it. Nobody tried to be Superman and instead they played as a team. Even the PP looked good for the most part. Shortridge was again solid in net and I think that's a big key to this teams success.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

I feel tonight could be a turning point for this team. They need to keep the bus moving forward and play a complete game. Harvard will no doubt be a formidable opponent so they'll need to stay focused and stick to the game plan. If they play with the same intensity as they did against Brown, Yale, and Princeton, they'll get it done.

Go Q!

We might be catching Harvard at the right time as well.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

They were on their way back at 3-2 when Donato rolled behind net and I think it was Kevin Duane just became a fan of a very good hockey player, Ryan Donato. That was the game right there....4-2!! I think they could have gotten back in. Maybe it is just time to admit it is best for the next few years to wish the Seniors good luck, but play the kids!! Get them ice time, build their skills for next year.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Jekyll and Hyde.

Another sloppy performance. I agree that at 3-2 they had life. The 4th goal crushed them.

Shortie had some issues as well. Didn't seem to be tracking the puck very well.

Dartmouth got crushed by Princeton tonight so tomorrow could get interesting.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

I'll admit it's hard to remain optimistic after last night's performance. I can't explain the vast difference between the team that played Tuesday at Princeton and the team that showed up last night. Is it home ice? Not likely since they did play very well against Brown/Yale.

Tuesday their passes were crisp and deliberate... last night they had trouble connecting or were putting soft passes into open ice that Harvard was getting to first.

Tuesday they clearly played as a team... last night it appeared a few guys went freelance (no need to mention names).

Tuesday Shortridge was a wall... last night he struggled finding the puck (not entirely his fault).

Ok, so what does all this mean? Maybe they should only play on Tuesday's! ;)

Seriously, the differences between the two nights are astounding. If I can see these differences I'm sure the staff can as well. Hopefully they're working on the consistency as that seems to be our biggest problem.

I get the talent aspect and acknowledge that we don't have any true snipers (or apparently finishers), but we've won with less before. A hard working, lunch pail team can be just as successful as a roster full of superstars.

Tonight is 2 points we desperately need. It will be interesting to see how they respond after last night. There simply isn't much, if any, room left for bad nights.

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Cannot continue to outshoot teams and lose. Need goalie to win one for us. It can't be that the last 4-5 losses where we outshot team our shots are all meaningless and the opponents are deadly. A goalie makes a coach look smart. Remember prior goalies?
I think freshman goalie might have hard time adjusting to full time dormitory and class including hockey. However we have a sophomore goalie
When this team gets behind they play a different game....passes do not connect etc. Donato might be the best in both HE and ECAC. Harvard team could skate..lots of skill reminded me of BU

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

maybe change up some things tonight....? rand is passionate guy and i have to believe he is seething seeing .500 season as a win. i'd like to see a few centering passes handled cleanly....
