Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I love this team.

I mean, the runner-up team from a few years ago is, so far, my favorite team in Quinnipiac hockey history because of how out-of-nowhere that season was, but this group is just so mentally strong. It's remarkable. They never give up, they never hang their heads.

Give up a goal with four minutes left? Tie it up with the extra attacker and win in OT. Blow a 4-0 first-period lead? No sweat, we'll just win it in overtime.

This is a remarkable, remarkable team. I hope this season lasts into April, but even if it doesn't it's one of the top 2 teams in program history. Just as much for the mental side as the physical side.

I love this team too! But then, you guys already knew that! ;)

I don't think there's a question that this will be the most post-season ready QU team in program history. Knock em for not being able to put away opponents, but spending the last 3 months in the trenches taking the brunt of every team's best shot will be invaluable come the ECAC and NCAA tournament. Also add in the experience of 3 straight NCAA tournament trips (and a senior class who played in the national championship) and you have a team that should be ready to face anything coming their way in March.
They certainly are getting battle tested, but I also think they need to clean up some of the minor problems before the post season because comebacks won't come as easily when everything is on the line.

I think this every year, but worth a mention that the RPI video feed is top notch. QU's is very good, but RPI's production value seems second to none.
They do a very good job and set the standard for online streaming in the college hockey world.

Great job to Quinnipiac. You played tough a battled back. One flaw that can prove to be fatal with your team this year to me is it appeared that RPI really took Q out of their game last night in the second period. It appeared that Q didn't really have an answer when RPI started being physical with them, and it almost cost you guys some players for the remainder of the game. I really have no idea why RPI got away from this, as I think that if RPI kept it up it would have been a different narrative last night, but I think that when Q faces a physical team in the NCAA's, if that team keeps up the physicality for the entire game, the Q could be in trouble. Just an observation. Q did what was needed to win last night, great game.

I wonder if this is that slump I was concerned about last month. Maybe this is it. If this is their slump, then this is an even more special team than I realized it was. Because for them to play this well while slumping, for them to dominate shot attempts while slumping, that's pretty good.

I agree completely. It seems that Quinnipiac has to prove how tough they are (and they are tough) even though they're smaller - but they need to stick to their game and use their speed, skating ability, and skill to their advantage. Part of that toughness is also what makes them so resilient and never out of a hockey game no matter the score, but I'd like to see them set the tone for games instead of letting another team dictate the style of play.

This is something they really haven't done in the 2nd half. With only 3 regular season games left it would be nice for them to start tonight. It would also be nice to see Garts put up another shutout... too many pucks have been getting by him.

Go Q!

Funny, I agree but my Tix were in the middle of the RPI season ticket holder section (nice folks btw) and they felt it was Q that was being overly physical. I believe it's the conditioning and depth that adds to the resiliency. 4 lines deep and guys that don't get tired. RPI was leaning on their knees and sticks resting over their heads in the 3rd. The RPI time out where Rand pulled Gartz was the perfect time. RPI couldn't get to the puck on the 6 on 5. They looked spent. They used a lot of energy in that second period. Fun game to watch.

Looks like we clinched at least a tie for the Cleary Cup tonight with the tie. 4 points up with 2 to play. Have to clinch it outright next week on home ice.

You would not have the #1 seed that case, though; Yale would have more ECAC wins. Need one more point to get the #1 seed.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Happy for the tie and a 3-pt weekend, but we definitely left another point on the ice tonight. It looked like they might take over and dominate but it never happened. Next weekend at the Bank will be huge. Friday night against the Bears and then... it will be time to #BeatYale.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I can't help but feel nothing but envy for you guys. This weekend of hockey is going to be insane. I want to equate my feelings for Saturday to the feelings we, Hamdenites, got back in the late 90's to early 2000's when Hamden High would play West Haven High. Granted I don't expect blood to be shed in the stands like there was at those games but what I expect to see is a hard nose, gritty, and fast pace game. I hope the stands are as packed as they have been the past few years against Yale, and I HOPE it is LOUD!!!!! Wish I could be there for this game but I will be watching the game on TV and I hope you will be able to hear my yelling from all the way out here... My neighbors have complained before.

This is the first year I don't want blood when it comes to Yale. Im looking so much further down the line. That game is for the students. Let's beat Brown and have a good showing against Yale going into the bye week. It's hardware season!

Is this an appropriate time for me to complain about how no Yale tickets were made available to the public when single game tickets first went on sale? I get the many reasons why, but as an alum who still comes back for 5-8 games every year, it's frustrating that there are no opportunities to purchase tickets ahead of time for this game through the university (I refuse to pay some Joe Schmo $75+ on Stubhub to get in).

Either way, it will be wayyyyy easier to watch this game on Saturday if we can at least get a point Friday night!

This has always been a complaint of mine. Although, I have never had an issue not getting in (Scalpers Outside, Current Students, Staff and Faculty). Sometimes you can go through Yale to get tickets for the game up at the Bank, I have done it once or twice in the past. I have always said, and will continue to say, that the QU-Yale game needs to be played at the Yale Bowl in the near future.

Either way, BEAT YALE!

Also, this just makes me angry....
