Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

So from what I'm reading, after their GWG goal on Friday night, the SLU goalie used his stick to pantomime a rifle, towards the Quinnipiac bench. It was probably something a little similar to what Artem Anisimov did with the Rangers a few years back:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Tbtn_1mTUM

It doesn't "excuse" the Bobcats from not shaking hands, but it does explain it. If their goalie did that, our players were rightfully furious, and it became a safety thing. Instead of a possible post-game brawl, get the teams off the ice. Frankly, that's not classless, it's smart. No reason to risk a major altercation after their goalie does something that, in general hockey parlance, is very frowned upon.

Funny how you only get half the story when one team's fans are the only ones there.

I was going to post almost the exact same thing yesterday but with the people on this board who quickly pile on any opportunity to call coaches and players out as classless, I figured what's the point. Their opinions won't change.

I know their opinions won't change, but I do think it's important to get the facts out there. People should make their decisions based on all the facts, not half the facts.

The "facts" according to you? Or the "facts" according to them? Come on man, there are three sides to every story, your side.....their side and the third side..... the truth.

Yes, that's my point. The only "facts" we were told in this thread was that the situation was all Quinnipiac's fault. As it turns out, there's some fault in SLU's goalie, too. That's all I'm saying. I wasn't there and the stream crapped out right before OT. So I don't know what happened, I can only go by what I hear.

Well I wouldn't argue with you there, Hayton has shown himself to be pretty classless in games against Clarkson.

You must have strategically missed where Critsports wrote that he suspected there was plenty of blame to go around on both sides.

I very much doubt a "full out brawl" would have resulted. It wasn't a particularly dirty game, just some post game shenanigans.

I mentioned over on the SLU thread, but I'll mention it here too. It's really a shame that there seems to be some sort of controversy after almost every game we play. We've been treated to several years of pretty fantastic hockey games between the two schools, yet it seems there is usually some argument/issue after each one.

It is a shame -- I always enjoyed the SLU-QU games when I was a student in Hamden, and while I haven't been able to catch all the games in the last few years, Friday's game was a ton of fun to watch. Hope to see the Saints next month.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I wasn't able to see the Clarkson game but from reading about it and watching the SLU game it seems to me that the boys came out of the weekend luck to still be on top. In the SLU game I think I saw 10 minutes of actual QU Hockey, the rest was unorganized chaos. I am surprised that the loss didn't hurt us, but maybe NoDak's 2 loss weekend helped us out that much. I honestly was hoping for a drop in the poles to give a gut check but hopefully the "Live to see another day" thing can work just the same. The rest of the way is not cake walk at all... I am nervous to say the least.

You are not alone, the same thing has happened here after a few Yale SLU games. Lets see what Friday holds .

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I've been following and admiring Gostisbehere's season with the Flyers and noticed a couple of things:

- Grew up in Pembroke Pines, FL
- Prep hockey at South Kent, CT
- NCAA hockey at an ECAC program
- Smooth skating D-man who can also put up points

Our very own Chase Priskie has every single one of these things in common with the Ghost Bear. Hoping Chase continues to do well here (and perhaps get picked in this year's entry draft).

Edit: haha - a couple hours after I post this, ATB comes out with this article: http://alongtheboards.com/2016/02/non-traditional-markets-provide-quinnipiac-hockey-with-spark-plugs-chase-priskie-and-thomas-aldworth/

GET OUTTA MY BRAIN!

Nice OT win on the road... the cardiac kids strike again! I would much rather see them start putting teams away earlier in the game, but a win is a win. Go for the sweep tomorrow.

We were in the arena with probably an handful of QU fans. Rand pulling Gartz with 3 to go was another gutsy call. Again the team responded. Hope they take Union tomorrow night and wrap this thing up.

This team is killing me! Great OT win tonight. Once again they prove that they are never out of it until the buzzer sounds.
What I wouldn't give for a game where they take an early lead and easily hang on to it until the end of the game.
Maybe tomorrow night?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

- I love this team.
- I don't think there's a question that this will be the most post-season ready QU team in program history. Knock em for not being able to put away opponents, but spending the last 3 months in the trenches taking the brunt of every team's best shot will be invaluable come the ECAC and NCAA tournament. Also add in the experience of 3 straight NCAA tournament trips (and a senior class who played in the national championship) and you have a team that should be ready to face anything coming their way in March.
- I think this every year, but worth a mention that the RPI video feed is top notch. QU's is very good, but RPI's production value seems second to none.
