Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Anyone know if Derek Smith is injured or if Shiplo just beat him out for his spot?
I thought I heard last weekend the Derek was nursing something minor. Shiplo is actually a suitable replacement and has shown some great potential.

my video feed went out so didn't catch OT - sounds controversial.

hopefully tomorrow they take the game out of the official's hands and take care of business.

Same here.

Nothing can be done about it now. Need to go out tomorrow and show they can bounce back.

Interesting to see Hayton took an unsportsmanlike conduct at the final buzzer. He's a feisty little one at times. One of these days it'll cost him and his team.

We all lost the feed. Even more frustrating when we tried to get back in it went to the start of the game. Radio feed also wasn't working at the end as Tim U tried that and it didn't work either.
There is a lot of speculation on what went on and happened at the end of the game. It sounds like there was plenty of blame to go around on both sides. There is a St. Lawrence Hockey Fan page on Facebook and there are plenty of comments on there about things that went on at the end of the game. Unfortunately almost nothing about the goal.......more about the scrums and jawing. Not defending him but Hayton did get roughed up and run several times and in the one scrum (I think in the second) was hurt a bit...there is video of that and you can see him come flying out of the pile and he was noticeably limping for a bit afterward. That was the play where both teams got a penalty but you guys picked up an extra for slashing.
There is also commentary that when our two coaches went to shake hands, a Q player stepped in between the two, got in Carvels face and shouted something. After that the description is Pecknold went his usual lunatic and pulled his team off the ice without shaking hands. That is described by one person who was at the game. What really happened who knows?
If not in the playoffs.............that should make for an interesting Friendship Four next year!!!! :)

It's time for the new AD to flush Tom Moore down the toilet.

Wouldn't surprise me if that happened. Amodio was brought here to improve the basketball program. Odds are he won't hesitate to fire a coach that he didn't hire. Tom has had some good teams here, and I'm not sure he's the wrong man for the job. MAAC is a tough league -- that's a really tough call.

Sucks to lose, but from what I saw, I will say this about the Bobcats -- this is a hard-working group. They never stop forechecking, never stop hunting the puck. It's really impressive. Tough loss, but I'm OK with any loss where the team plays that hard for 60 minutes.

I saw comments (on that Facebook page) that the coaches did finally shake hands after getting the players settled. There were also comments about Hayton skating by the QU bench and saying something to Pecknold leading to his unsportsmanlike penalty. My guess would be the players were heated on both sides and Rand thought it best to get them off the ice instead of something else happening. To me that's not classless but rather a smart move to keep things from escalating. Sounds like plenty of blame to go around.

The one video I saw of the St. Denis incident sure looked like a spear, but could have easily been him trying to get the call. Whatever it was, we lost and need to worry about Clarkson tonight.

I also lost my video feed and didn't get the audio until after the game. Anyone know what happened on that goal? Rand refused to talk to the press also saying he didn't want to get in trouble by criticizing officials so he'd just not say anything. Hopefully a better result tonight.

Comments from those at the game made it sound like a scrum kinda goal in front of QU net. Puck took a few bounces, off a few legs/skates/sticks and found a hole.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Bleh. I really did not want SLU to beat you last night, although the hard-fought physical game going to overtime is exactly what I wanted.

I feel like you guys are going to walk into Cheel incredibly ****ed off and just roflstomp us back to oblivion.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I also think a huge key to this is Garteig. He needs to step up and steal a few. He's been good but not great... we need him great. The team needs him great. We'll be facing some of the best goalies in the league (and the country) over the next 3 weekends. We need those teams to face one of best as well.
I think this bears repeating. Garts need to be solid tonight. The entire team needs to step up and take control. Score early, score often.

Go Q!

Definitely going to be a slugfest tonight. I agree whichever goalie plays better will be the key to this one - Garteig needs to stand strong in traffic and make the tough saves when he can't really see the puck. Lewis needs to steal a couple on odd-man rushes and breakways, and be HUGE on the power play freezing the puck so we can get changes. He's been generally weak there.

Clarkson needs to score first to win this game. They've been able to come back after flat starts recently against RPI and Princeton, and really hit the gas pedal after the first 25 minutes, but we can't count on that tonight. If we come out flat for 20 minutes, it could be 6-0 by the end of the first.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Nice OT road win. The offense never seemed to get untracked this weekend and I thought Garteig should have stopped both goals tonight. No matter... take the 2 points and get ready for RPI and Union next weekend.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Lewis gave that one away, Anas might've had the worst game he's had at QU, hopefully we meet in Placid I like our chances.
