Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

I think you all remember last season around this time the hockey team debuted their camouflage uniforms that were donated by the Student Veterans Organization. They also honored a different veteran from the school's student body and staff members at every home game. This year they are doing it a little differently. The uniforms will be worn this Saturday v. Dartmouth, again on the 20th v. Clarkson, and the final time on the 28th v. UMass-Amherst. The difference is this year they will be auctioning the jerseys this month and proceeds will go to the, Gary Sinise Foundation. This is a cause that is very near and dear to me seeing as though I served in the US Navy for 5 years and is essentially what catapulted me into my career path. Helping veterans has also been a big deal to me since my Honorable Discharge and I know that the SVO would love your guys support whether that be bidding on a jersey or even helping them out by donating whatever you can. They want to keep this tradition going with the hockey program because it really shows how supportive and awesome the program is. Please help support them and their efforts.

Truehl will have 2 years of eligibility left starting next year. Petruzzelli won't be here for another 2 years at least. It will be Truehl, Lawrence and Andrew Shortridge battling for the top job next year.

Shoot I thought Petruzzelli was coming next year!

Are they wearing the same jerseys as last year? Last year, those jerseys were awesome. Really liked how they looked. Great cause. Would love to get my hands on a jersey

Yes they are the same exact jerseys as last year. I forgot to post the link to the auction.

Good Post,
I am also a Vet, Army tank gunner, 4th Armor, 1966-68, and I like Gary Sinise, as an actor and for his work helping Vets. I am glad you mentioned this charity, and I am happy to kick in. BTW, that comeback Sat. night was amazing. The guy who sits in front of me in sect. 113 always says you must have confidence, and you gotta believe, I do now. The ECAC appears to be very strong this year. Friday night should be the top game in the country. Go Bobcats

First and foremost, Thank You for your service. I was just informed that the SVO will have a table set up in the lobby during most Home games this month. Feel free to stop by and talk to them for more information on the auction and whatever else you might want to ask them. They are very helpful so if you guys have any ideas on how they can help in the community/local area they would love to hear from you.

This is awesome and just in time for Christmas!

At the last home game a few of us were talking about the camo's and someone said they should make them available for sale at a slight markup with all the proceeds going to charity.

One way or another I have to get me one of these!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

Howdy! I'm back.

No idea why I stopped posting in our little world. I still paid some attention, particularly when my good friends Larson and Schvatz told me there was something good going on. But these Bobcats are something special.

Two points off the top:

- I've been praying every other day that somebody would decide that we could do more good in this world by auctioning off those camo jerseys. Prayers have been answered. I'm totally in one and I don't care how much it runs me.

- This team is freaking excellent. It has the same type of confidence as the 2012-13 team had, as evidenced by the comeback at Cornell and the attitude when these guys speak. I was talking with Garteig and Soren yesterday and it's really evident. Garteig said that he remembers the bad start they got off to last year and how it was responsible for them being sent to Fargo, and how they weren't gonna let that happen again. These guys now expect to be in the NCAA tournament year after year. Awesome. I brought up to Soren what Zack Currie said early in the 2012-13 season about how they could win a national title, and Soren basically said "we don't plan on losing." What a cool bunch.

I'll be back soon. Huge game Friday night I can't make -- stupid high school football -- but I'll be there in person to see those beautiful camo jerseys make their newest appearance.

Go Bobcats!

This is awesome. I'll be bidding! All in on Toews by the way. More pro potential than any D we've had with that puck moving ability. Health will be his only question mark. See y'all at the perch Friday!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

I can not wait for Friday night. Harvard has great speed and playmaking/finishing ability. This is not a team you want to give a lot of PP opportunities to. Harvard will likely have 5 forwards on the PP which will be an unusual line-up, but as you will see from the puck movement, they bring a ton of skill.

Be interesting to see how Quinny matches up with Harvard's top line. Harvard also has a ton of depth at forward this year. Tyler Moy and Luke Espositio (3rd line) saw time on the 1st line last year. Harvard's 3rd line is often the difference maker because they generally exploit the 3rd D pairing (scored both goals against Yale).

Quinny will have to play physical with Harvrad, but will have to find that balance - overly physical will lead to PPs. I think the referee and how he calls the game will have an impact for sure.

Harvard's D and goalie are young - in goal, they have rotated between a frosh and a sophmore who played in 1-2 games last year so basically a frosh. I would expect Quinny to try and take advantage of this with an aggressive forecheck. The key again is balance since Harvard will come the other way with speed if the D can hit the breakout forward effectively.

I think Quinny wins something like 3-2, but I expect a very entertaining game - much like the Yale game last Friday night....a game that was very equally played, but felt like a loss since Yale tied it up with 36 seconds on the clock. Ugh!

Here's to a great contest, good refereeing, and no injuries! It's great to see 3 ECAC teams (Quinny, Harvard, and Yale) getting some national accolades early.

Welcome back, Thx. Would like to think you care about us here more than to just post when camo jerseys become available, but I guess we'll take what we can get!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

Question for the group and maybe those of you who were once close to the media department while in school... Over the last four seasons we've had 13 regular season games televised, averaging over 3 per year. In 2013-14 alone, we had six games televised including two on SNY and three on NESN. In 2012-13 we had a game aired on NBC Sports Network. This year the only game listed is the 12/4 Yale game on some American Sports Network, whatever the heck that is. I know that Jack McDonald was a major component to getting us national exposure and maybe it's as simple as, with our recent success, exposure isn't something still needed. I also have heard that this new AD Amodio isn't a huge hockey guy. I mean the guy passed up tickets to the Frozen Four when it was in Pitt. On a side note, this dude is going to have to work extremely hard to fill Jack's shoes. First impression of him was a yawner. Wear some Bobcat gold or muted yellow (;)Jack) at the very least. Anywho, I understand that contracts with TV channels and such can be complicated and maybe the whole NESN thing timed out. Maybe this is it. What do you guys think? Do we not need to really be on TV anymore? Is it partly because Jack was hyper aware of exposure and Amodio might be looking forward to bouncy ball season? It doesn't really matter to me, I'm at every home game and even in the McDonald tenure we rarely got a road game on TV, I'm just curious.

Quinnipiac can get on NESN or SNY or MSG whenever they want as when they were on NESN they bought the airtime to broadcast their games. Not sure what the financial situation of the athletic department is or the budget for athletic broadcasting.

Gotcha, Yeah that is not something I'm privy to either. Could be a major contributing factor.
