Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

Not their best effort by a long shot but a win is a win. Hopefully it was just a little rust from the week off. They did seem to come alive in the third and really stifled 'Gate. Garteig was good again, though I think he should have had the 2nd goal... those are the ones he needs to steal. Good to see Tim Clifton back but I thought not having Davidson out there was noticeable... not many crushing blows delivered by the boys in blue.

It seems like teams have figured out they need to neutralize Anas and Aldworth as both have seen lots of double-teaming. That's ok since we have so many other offensive weapons. The guys that stood out to me tonight were Canon Peiper, Tim Clifton, and Devon Toews. Solid play from all three.

Rest up and take it to the Big Red tomorrow night.

Just glad this play was against Colgate and not Cornell. That's for **** sure.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

They're going to need a more complete effort tonight. While nobody seems to be saying much about Cornell this year, they're always a tough team to play, especially at Lynah.

We need to tighten up defensively... I think too many shots are getting through to Garts. Offensively we need to keep a net-front presence and get as much rubber on goal as we can. All 4 lines are capable of scoring so there's no reason not to pepper the goaltender.

Let's get our first road sweep of the season!

Go Q!

Cornell hasn't played anyone. The record is hollow.

I think Quinny wins by 2+ goals, but you are right, Cornell is always tough at Lynah.

Total no show performance so far and brutal on the penalty kill.

3 PPGs for Cornell? Home town referee?

There seems to be a ton of penalties in this game basically seems like its out of control.

More jump for the Bobcats in the 2nd. Just gotta stay out of the box in the 3rd and keep rolling.

Huge win for the boys. Played mediocre hockey this weekend and still pulled out four points. HUGE GAME FRIDAY at home against Harvard. Cash said it well on the postgame, it will be a fast one. Can't play mediocre and come out with a win

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

They overcame a lot of adversity tonight. Never gave up even when down 3-0. The major rattled them a bit but then they settled in and kept plugging. A really gutsy performance coming back from 4-1 to win in OT on the road at Lynah. Toews took a hard shot at the end of the 3rd which put us on the PP to end regulation and start OT... hope he's ok because he's the backbone of the D-corp.

Always nice to have a 4-point weekend... even better when it's on the road.

Bring on the Crimson!

Happy to come away with 4 points from this weekend. Great come back tonight!
They really need to step it up next weekend. There will be no room for sloppy play against Harvard. A win friday night would be huge.

Fun Fact: QU was the only ECAC team with a 4 point weekend this week :)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

Huge 4 point weekend, especially when things looked quite gloomy early last night. Early in the season finding a way to overcome two 3-goal deficits at Lynah is humungous. Garts was very strong Friday night and had an incredible third period against the Red last night. The bigger point, however, is the secondary scoring. To take two wins in hostile territory with top tier talents like Anas (1 G, 1A), L Smith (1 A) and Aldworth (1 A) only accounting for four combined points is very telling of the depth of the team this year. Andrew Taverner exploded last night (2 G, 2 A). Chase Priskie continued his incredible start with 3 assists last night with the Clifton bros chipping in a combined 3 goals and 2 assists. We hear the coaches talk about being able to cycle four lines consistently for the first time in close to four years and this could not be more important moving forward. The production of the aforementioned 3 will come but over the past couple years if the top flight guys weren't producing then the second tier group had to shoulder a load they weren't capable of, this group has the ability to pick up that slack. They certainly will need a more complete effort against a dynamic Crimson squad and a Dartmouth team that always seems to play us tough. But this weekend's success is a great sign moving forward.

Finally, the Bobcats have now won 4 straight at Lynah, a rink as imposing as any in all of college hockey. This is a great thing. Keep rolling boys!

All smiles this morning! What an effort from the Bobcats last night to not only fight back to earn a draw, but pull out the two points in overtime! Been a fun season so far.

Kotsy mentioned on the postgame show last night this was the most impressive comeback he could remember in the school's history. Interesting claim, sir. Got me and a couple of the folks thinking about some of the better comebacks we could remember. A quick brainstorm came up with four (all from the '12-'13 season) that can rival it from an importance standpoint as well as a sheer night-of impressive standpoint.

4. February 2, 2013: @ Yale (6-2 W) - Recently ranked No. 2 in the nation, on the heels of a disappointing tie at Brown, the team trailed 2-0 early at the Whale thanks to two Eli PPGs. Six unanswered goals later, gold reigned supreme. To me, this game holds the most parallels to last night's win over Cornell.

3. January 12, 2013: vs. Union (3-2 W) - 15-game unbeaten streak on the line, trailed Union 2-0 heading to the third. If I remember correctly, QU had to kill off like a five-minute 5-on-3 or something to begin the third. Three unanswered in a seven-minute span at home against a team that just reached the Frozen Four gave the team an electrifying win and provided the fans with really the first glimpse that this team was special.

2. March 17, 2013: Game Three, ECAC Quarters vs. Cornell (3-2 W, 2OT) - This game holds a special place for me because Larson and I were on the call for QBSN that night. Needless to say, an unforgettable game. Trailed 2-1 with the season on the line (at least ECAC season) deep into the third, Clay Harvey stuffed home a goal at 18:56 in the period. Isles made 60! saves that night, but could not stop a streaking Kevin Bui in double-OT, sending the Bank into a frenzy and the Bobcats on to AC.

1. March 30, 2013: NCAA East Regional vs. Canisius (4-3 W) - Has to be the best comeback in program from both an impressive, but more so importance standpoint. We all know the accolades heading into the game and what was on the line. Trailed 3-1 at 3:43 into the third period. Peca at 8:02 and JST with the PPG a little more than two minutes later to tie it up. Then, because it had to be, Bui with the game-winner on a juicy rebound in the slot while falling down at 14:28 to provide the school's first-ever NCAA tournament win.

Curious to see what games some you older folk who have followed this team longer (looking at you, Eagle :p) feel rival last night's comeback.

I think you nailed the top 4 but in the slightly wrong order.

1st obviously the Canisius game. We were dead the entire night but came to life in the 3rd. Possibly the most important win to date in the program's D-I history as well.

2nd for me would be the Union game. As with Canisius we were dead in the water. Somehow they found a little magic and pulled out a huge win. I will always remember the dejected look on the faces of the Union coaches, players, and fans.

3rd & 4th are a toss up. I'd say based on importance the Cornell OT win gets the nod. The excitement at the Bank that night was electric. I can clearly remember Andy Iles all sprawled out after trying to stop Bui (and the replays of that goal are amazing).

As wonger said, the secondary scoring this year is stellar. Possibly the best we've ever had.

And... did anyone notice the Matt Peca legacy last night? TSD with 2 short-handed breakaways? Ok, so he didn't score... but he will. Travis has definitely come into his own this season.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

All of those comebacks were before my Time as a Bobcat fan.
One more recent comeback that I will never forget is Game 1 of the 2014/15 Quarter Finals against Union on 3/13/15. Down 3-1 Anas scored 2 goals in the last 2 minutes of the 3rd period to tie the game. QU wins in triple overtime. Unbelievable comeback!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...

That Canisius game....was the game we proved we belonged. Even though we should've beat them by more because of the 1 vs. 16 matchup. I still find myself watching the replay of that. Cant remember being more proud to go to school at Q then that night. Of course the next night wasn't too bad either, or that Thursday night in Pittsburgh.

Loved the Cornell game too. We DOMINATED the third period on through overtime (Cornell had like 5 shots in 35+ mins) and Iles was a brick wall. Cop grabbed me by my collar cause I was jumping against the glass.

Last night was a big one for sure, but didn't have that extra spice that an elimination game comeback has.

Yes sir... that completes the top 5 for sure.

True, but it tells them they can do it. This early in the season it's important to find out what you're capable of. The never quit attitude is what I like to see. There was no panic and not a single player gave up and stopped skating.

It's also an impressive win. Listen, it's early. We've got a long way to go. But Lynah Rink is not an easy place to play. The fans are right on top of you, and they are loud. Boy, are they loud. It's a very intimidating rink. To come in there, go down 4-1, and make the comeback? That's an impressive win. There's just no other way to put it.

I don't think anyone is questioning that Seth. We got sidetracked on comeback wins and Saturday is right up there... because it was Cornell at Lynah. Someday I'll get there to experience it first hand! ;)
