I think it is ridiculous that QU is ranked 9th nationally when we are 1st in the pairwise. We have the strongest RPI at .8764 and are tied for the best record with #3 nationally ranked Nebraska-Omaha at 6-0. QU's thrashing of Maine and Saint Cloud twice should have put us in the top five. That's okay. We will work our way up to like we did in 2012-2013.

It is what it is. I'll take being first in the pairwise any day of the week over number 1 in the polls as long as we get to play in the East should we make the tournament.

Good point.

I used to be all caught up in the polls too. Then I realized it really has no meaning other than bragging rights. This early in the season (remember the 6 Ivies haven't even played a game yet) it's nothing more than a popularity contest. As for the pairwise, that's just as worthless at this point... in fact, it only matters on the last day of the season. Getting all wrapped up in either of those numbers is pointless.

Go out and play the games on your schedule to the best of your abilities and everything else will fall into place. One shift, one period, one game at a time.

Polls are useful for possible recruiting purposes.

As much as I wish we were playing this weekend, I am absolutely loving the "bye" week right now. Let the boys rest up, get 100% healthy or as close to it as possible. Then next weekend come out red hot and start trimming the ECAC trees one by one.

I'm not sure of that. Remember, these kids are recruited several years ahead of actually being admitted. Where the team is ranked today isn't where it will be when they finally attend. Recent success of the program, future plans, and the school itself are likely larger factors on the recruiting trail. You also have to keep in mind that we target a specific type of student-athlete who will fit into the overall picture.

I have mixed feelings about bye weeks. This early in the season I think they can be as detrimental as they are beneficial. On the other hand, it did appear that the team gelled quickly so the extra rest/healing probably can't hurt. I guess we'll all know how it works out next weekend.

Yeah I was writing this with Timmy Clifton and TSD in mind seeing as though both of them went off with some sort of injury. Granted TSD went off, in points, last weekend. I agree with your bye week analysis, especially coming out of a 3 win week. But from what I can tell the SCSU series took a lot out of the boys so I think this early bye week will do more good than bad, knock on wood.

It also helps with the amount of press the team has gotten this week. Literally everyone possible did an article on the team. Let them be excited about that but come next week, no one will be talking about us. Im certain that Rand will bring them down to earth real quick. He likes to do that after a couple big wins. This would be that time.

Boys know how big of a weekend Colgate/Cornell is. We have TAKEN it to Cornell since the boys decided to put a 10 spot on Iles and his boys and then Bui initiated the "GO CRAZY HAMDEN" phenomenon as Larson had his minute of fame (a sentence that shouts out Larson and Schvatz in the same sentence is no easy task).

Colgate still has the pesky Spink twins, two of the best in the ECAC.

The last five or six posts you guys made, I couldn't tell if you were talking about Clarkson or Q-Pac.

It's way too early to take the Pairwise seriously. There's a ton of statistical noise this time of year in the Pairwise.

They talked about this on the postgame after saturday's game and Riga said it could help in recruiting.

Glad we (Merrimack) could help. QU is my #2 team to root for (daughter, son-in-law, and 2 nieces all graduated/going). You guys have a great thing going down there!

I was looking through the numbers and it appears that Travis St. Denis will very sneakily join the 100 point club. The senior is at 84 career points which seems rather high. I would've guess more around the 75 point mark. Either way, hats off to Travis. Sam Anas will also join the 100 point club this year. He's at 90 right now. Thomas Aldworth and Chase Priskie are 94 points away from joining as well. ;)
