Those would be included in the 5% that I omitted. It happens, but it is pretty rare.

UND is indeed pretty good about traveling to other schools. Probably because they want to remember what trees look like ;)

Colorado College has also recently been playing their D-III brethren, including return trips (I know Q-Pac's D-I). Q-Pac also does schedule Atlantic teams in order to keep some of those rivalries alive from back when they played in Atlantic at NIP (that rink was quaint).

I probably should have omitted UND since I know in the past they have been to the Boston area to play BU and BC.

That was true for their first few years in the ECAC. It's now become filler for the schedule because nobody else wants to come here. Rumor has it HE teams may be more available and willing when their new league scheduling goes into place.

You mean like Vermont this year? Oh, and playing Northeastern in addition to BC out East next year or the year after (not sure which)? The Gophers, and especially us Gopher fans, have wanted to go East more for years. in fact, Don Lucia has said he wants to go East every other year once in the Big Ten.

If anything, we've been whining about NOT playing more out East. And for good reason. It's good for the game when schools like BC and BU come West and UMN and UND go East.

Congrats to the Bobcats from a Merrimack fan! It was fun last year when the Warriors reached #1. Enjoy the ride, and prove the naysayers wrong!

Congratulations to the QU Hockey Team and all the Coaches and staff for the # 1 ranking today. It is quite an accomplishment considering QU is relatively new to D-1 Hockey. In the years I have watched QU, they have always had a good team, with one strong line-like most middle of the pack teams. This year however, the team is deep, with 3-4 productive lines. What has supprised me the most this year is the quality of the defense, led by Eric Hartzell. Their ability to break up plays mid ice, and clear the defensive zone has helped them gain this rank. The penalty kill and the speed of the team is impressive. The only missing link is the PP, which has been improving lately. I am grateful that The Athletic Director "convinced" Coach Pecknold to stay when it was rumored he was heading to U-Mass. Also, Coach Pecknold brought back Ast. Coach Reid Cashman (QU-07, 1st Team All American) which seems to be paying off now. Good luck for the rest of the season and the Playoffs. Hopefully the PairWise stays up, and they can get a #1 seed in Providence.

Congrats? What does that mean? Where's the trophy? Where were the accolades when BC or Minnesota were voted #1? Listen, everybody knows that absolutely the only way Quinipiac can say they are the best team in the country is to win the NCAA title. They are a solid, top ten team which I think is just super for their program. Yep.

In all seriousness, the fans can should have a lot of fun with this just like Merirmack (I think) fans did last year.

BC and Minny are alot different then QU and you know that. I think everyone in college hockey agrees on a couple things 1) This team is deserving of a one seed 2) Hartzell is an animal 3) The ECAC is a weaker conference then the WCHA and Hockey East (possibly CCHA too) 4) and that while this team has accomplished alot, March is the real test.
Everyone should agree on those points because they are all the truth.
So lets all sit back and enjoy this fantastic season and the postseason run

Absolutely! Ask anyone on the team and they will say the goals this year (as I'm sure they are every year for every team) are:

1) League regular season championship
2) League tournament championship
3) NCAA tournament appearance (along with a couple of victories)
4) National Championship

My guess is they're as focused as can be and that they are only looking as far ahead as their next game. As long as they keep everything in perspective, they'll be fine. There isn't anyone who can say how they'll do in the NCAA's... it's why they play the games. We can guess all we want but the truth is nobody knows how any of those final 16 teams will do.

For me, as a fan, I'm just going to enjoy the ride, wherever it takes us.

Congratulations to Quinnipiac! You've put together a hell of a season so far. Keep it up through the weekend so Yale can beat the #1 next Friday!!
