Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

I'm pretty sure it will be on Yale's YouTube channel. If I remember I'll try to post a link later (or you could probably find a link from Yale's site).

If Yale's broadcast team isn't doing the game, then it's possible that it won't be. If these TV companies bring in their own crew, they typically have an exclusivity clause associated with it.

^ This. If Yale All Access is broadcasting the game in addition to CPTV, then you should be able to find it simulcasted on youtube. The press box at the Whale is not all that big however, so i would not totally be surprised if All Access wasn't there, but I am expecting them to be there.

How often do you see dual video telecasts for sporting events, though? Aside from a single camera that is used by the team generally for internal purposes (such as the team reviews for their own strategy, although it becomes public domain once the game has gone final), you usually only see one crew. Some places, like RIT and RPI, can get away with doing both because the camera crews are in-house, while they merely send their feed to the TV station. You MAY also see some cross-purchases, like I know that local cable companies will run an alternate ESPN from their local sports station if a local team is playing (don't be surprised to see CPTV pick up the ESPN feed of Q-Pac games in the big dance, assuming they make it), but generally it's one camera crew.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

It could also be possible that CPTV Sports will pick up the Yale All-Access feed.

Or visa versa. I know when Quinnipiac home games are broadcasted on TV, the university takes that video stream and uses it for their free online stream, which can be found at necfrontrow.com.

One thing about Yale All Access however, is that the way it is set up, there is a possibility of there being two completely separate video feeds. From first hand experience, I know that All Access normally uses a two-camera set up, both located in the press box. One camera is the main video feed for all of the regular action, while the second one is used as an auxiliary camera, focusing on players/coaches/fans after the play is over. While this works great for an online feed, I would assume that a TV broadcast might desire a couple of more angles/different vantage points. Considering the All Access set up does not take up much space, I think it is feasible that there can be two different video feeds. Not saying that is what will happen, just saying it is possible.

BTW, just found out I will be at both the Brown and Yale games this weekend. Hope to see some familiar faces there.

Some more interesting news from chip here.
http://nhrcollegehockey.blogspot.com/2013/01/yale-home-games-back-on-air.html

The Yale All Access team has been given a great boost lately by some private funding from an alum who loves the team, I believe it upgraded them to be able to have instant replay and a scoreboard shot. WYBC will also be carrying the Yale home and away games over the radio airwaves (just like the good old days) there is a good post on the Yale thread about that.

Sounds like a nice setup, similar to what RPI has with cameras 1 and 2, however we also have two cameras at the near corners. One angle that I REALLY like, and wish they'd also do on the other side, is Quinnipiac's "up and behind the goal" angle. I'm so used to watching the game from that perspective from when I was with the band, and you can really see everything well. The distance watching takes a little getting used to, but once you're used to it, it's absolutely terrific, even better than centre ice IMO, since the biggest difficulty with centre ice is that you can't see the near corners.

Yale All-Access WILL be broadcasting Saturday night's game vs. Quinnipiac for free in HD w/ instant replay, our normal broadcast team, etc. From what I understand our coverage will be completely separate from that of CPTV.

After another 10-day layoff, it's time for the short trip to Providence to face the Brown Bears. Bruno always seems to play us tough at home so we'll need to make sure we come out strong and get the jump on them. No need to worry about tomorrow until today is done. As has been said... one shift, one period, one game.

I'll be making the trip east and hope to see lots of blue and gold at Meehan.

Go Q!

Go Q!

According to a Tweet from the QU Alumni account, over 250 alumni, family, and friends are attending tonight's game. For QU, that's a pretty sizable away contingent.

Nice! There does always seem to be a decent group up there. And Brown's not on break so there may even be some students there for us to heckle! ;)

A very good "point" on the road. Should be a fun night at Ingall's tomorrow

Let's give a "HUGE" assist to the QU Alumni, Parents and Fans who outnumbered the Brown fans tonight! Special Thanks to QU Alumni Office for hosting over 200 at Spats & the game!

Awesome QU showing tonight! And while I'm not a fan of thundersticks, they were appropriate for the occasion.

While the unbeaten streak continues, we definitely left a point on the ice tonight. Clearly outplayed Brown most of the game but couldn't get more than one past Borelli. Let's hope they saved some legs for tomorrow.

A very good point? When you are fighting to get a #1 seed in the tournament a point against Brown is not enough. They should have won tonight based on the chances they had. It's time for Langer to start putting a few more in the back of the net.

The team also looked gassed at the end of the game. You'd think they'd have a bit more energy after having 10 days off. Here's to hoping for more tomorrow night.

Someone more knowledgeable correct me if I'm wrong, but ties don't hurt you in the Pairwise, do they?

Got to agree with Larson here. Really should have had the two points tonight against a Brown team that they are certainly more talented then. Bummer that the team just could not separate themselves from Brown, but at least the unbeaten streak stays in tact. I am a bit concerned that we have not really seen this team click since the home and home against Princeton (save for the 3rd period against Union). A "No. 2" team in the nation should not be struggling like this team has against some of these opponents.

That being said, they have a great opportunity to turn things around tomorrow night in what I think can be argued as the biggest regular season game in program history. Between the rivalry, national rankings, pairwise, chase for the Cleary Cup, NCAA tourney seeding, and regional bragging rights, the argument is definitely there.

Side note - Boy was the Brown crowd a late arriving crowd tonight. Kudos to the Quinnipiac Alumni showing up in numbers, but still I was thinking there was going to be a bigger Bruno faithful showing.
