Nothing they've tried thus far has worked well. Different lines, different setups. They pass to much or not enough. Shots right into opposing shins or dead center in the goalies chest. Seems like opponents aggressively come out and challenge as the PP wears on.

I've been saying this all season: if they ever figure it out, watch out!

It's not so much being "special", but we have a team full of heart and desire. Moreso than any other in the 6 or 7 years I've been following. We have some superstar-quality players, but no superstars that stand out besides Eric Hartzell. There isn't 1 or 2 guys getting all the headlines. A UNO fan called them a "lunch pail" team. They come out and grind it out. If one line has an off game, another steps up. We've gotten scoring from top to bottom and can roll 4 very competetive lines.

I fully agree with that "lunch pail" analogy. They're finding ways to win even when they probably shouldn't. Even Pecknold has said there's more heart in the locker room than he's had in years. Whatever it is, it's working for us.

With 10 league games left it's not over by a long shot, but I like our chances and feel we'll be in the mix come March and hopefully April.

Congratulations on your good season thus far .... this better be the year because there are not many teams when we see an NCAA ice hockey team with an average age of 23. Maybe RIT a few years ago when they had their run ....

Enjoy the ride .... appreciate the efforts of all concerned .... because this is rare and generational air for most teams ....

Let's just say things go real well on Saturday (technically that is today) and QU/Yale wins on Friday, we could have 1 v 2 in the Pairwise next week at Ingalls. Now wouldn't that be fun. Go Bobcats.

DUDE08, If you are going to use Yale as an example of ECAC excellence, you should at least respect the name of the school. Of course RPI could be RIP this season.

It's a running inside joke, that is from a past thread where {PROVICED also became a running joke.

Edit: I want to say it was some UVM thread, where someone wanted to kick {PROVICED out of HOCKEY RAST. Also mis-spelled Yale as Ylae.

We started calling Yale.....Ylae over 12 years ago. It started way back when we used to listen to the games via the net, and participate in the old Yahoo ECAC chat room. Every Friday and Saturday night there were tons of people in the Yahoo chat room listening to their various teams games and posting and commenting while we listened. Because everyone was typing and chatting very quickly, Yale was easily miss-typed as Ylae. It happened so frequently that we all began intentionally miss-spelling it Ylae. To my recollection that was how it started although there may be other stories more colorful or creative than that one.

I wasn't here for that, however the asterisk came from the time when Yale was the #1 team for a little while in 2010-11, but had a player that had spent a year playing in Europe, and there was some question concerning the player's eligibility.

I don't think Q-Pac yet has a stupid meme name, unlike most of the other EZAC schools.

I agree with crits explanation. I was there then and I still use "Ylae" today ;) .
