Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

As a former Bobcat (Brave actually) playing under Coach Armstrong, this is an extremely exciting and surreal moment in time for the program and for anyone who has been associated with it.

Congrats on an outstanding season and achievement. Let's keep it going all the way to the FF!

Thx You Gopher and the same to all in Minnesota. Like all, QU has a ways to go, but it certainly is nice to see our Bobcats be listed with the elite of college ice hockey.

It's Tuesday and game day at the Bank! With all the press and excitement, we can't afford any letdown, especially after a 10-day layoff and another 10 days to go after tonight. Come out strong, play hard, and take care of business. Let's keep the streak going!

Remember, it's one game at a time... nothing else matters.

I do not think that the team will be looking past tonights game at all. This is a team that, even with some minor let downs over this remarkable stretch, has still for the most part taken care of business. I do think that the students coming back to the game tonight will help the player focus on UConn and not on the national ranking/ECAC schedule. These players have consistently thanked and credited the students and the crowd throughout this unbeaten streak as providing an energy, and I am cautiously optimistic that will continue tonight. Talking to some people in the student center today, the rumor is that the game is sold out. We will find out more when we get to the Bank obviously, but to hear that for a weekday night game is certainly promising.

Additionally, considering this is the first week of class, students (for the most part) will not have work assigned for tonight, so that leaves the night open for them to attend the game. Plus, this will be the first time that the majority of the students will be able to see this team play with such a high national ranking, so one would expect the excitement and attendance to be there.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

That game tonight is exactly what scares me about the 1st round of the NCAA's. 50 SOG, red-hot goaltender, you just never know. Lots of questionable decision-making on the ice at times, but they stay with it and pound out a win. This team is really strong mentally.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Another one that wasn't pretty, but a win is a win. The difference was definitely Grogan who stood on his head stopping 48 of 50. As far as the Bobcats, I was really impressed with the Bui-Hibbeler-Goodman line. They hustled all night long. The other lines got the glory but those 3 did their job. Hartzy was great when he needed to be. Unfortunately, his weakness on breakaways bit him again. And even though we got a PPG, we still need to work on our power play. While it looked better tonight than it has, it's a long way from being great and is still the only missing piece of the puzzle as far as I'm concerned.

I'll happily take the win to continue the streak, but there's have a bit of work to do to solidify things as they head down the stretch. Another 10 days off and then 5 weeks of grinding ECAC action.

Thank you for mentioning the Bui line. I was on the call tonight and I said his name just as much as anyone else's name. Good atmosphere heading into the third period. There's nothing like an unexpected dance off between students and kids in the stands. I don't think it holds a candle to a dancing kid with just USA boxers, but what can you do.:D

The PP alignment is strange. They had three guys at or near the point and, at times, two guys parked in front. I understand looking for the deflection, but that's a low-percentage shot. I'd like to see better spacing on the PP -- there were other times guys were almost bumping into each other up there -- and I'd really like to see the guys move without the puck on the PP. You're not going to score when it's just five guys, each standing in the same spot.

It's so weird, you'd think with all the offensive talent on this team they'd be better on the PP, but it's been awfully tough sledding for them this year.

Exactly. For whatever reason, nothing has seemed to work.

Judging by your description, that sounds like the umbrella formation, which is actually a relatively popular set up.

Sounds like you guys really have something special going on in Hamden. Would love to see another ECAC team make a run into April again, hope you guys can keep it rolling!

It is an umbrella, but it's not very well-spaced out.
