Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Not a good end to the weekend either.

Another game where we outshot our opponent (32-14) and have nothing to show for it, not even a goal. A very tough 4-0 loss to the Big Red. This team is snake bit. As Kotsy just said in the post-game, they probably couldn't get a puck in the ocean right now. Sad but true. Hopefully they can figure out what's wrong over the holiday break and start righting the ship next Saturday against UMass.

I haven't given up hope yet, but it's very frustrating to see them throw so much rubber at the net and continually come up empty. Something has to start going their way soon...

I haven't been able to listen to the games, but I wonder what the "scoring chances" stat looks like. SOG can sometimes be a misleading stat right now. Are they shooting from the point with no screeners in front? Are they just throwing bad-angle shots on cage? Are they executing two-on-one breaks, but the goaltender is just making sprawling saves?

Yes, they may be snake bit, but if they're not putting high percentage shots on net, it doesn't really matter how many shots you take. 14 good shots are better than 32 bad-angle shots.

The other issue is, and again I don't know what kind of shots Cornell put on tonight; but generally speaking, you can not give up 4 goals on 14 shots and expect to win games.

Take the opinion of an opposing fan for what it's worth, but I watched the game online and my heart was really never in my throat. Iles made several "good" saves, but none at all that I remember being spectacular. He also did a pretty good job tonight of steering the rebounds to the corners, so very few of Q's 32 shots were 2nd chances. I don't remember a single odd-man rush for Q the entire game, not even a 3x2.

The only game where the shot total matched the quality of shots was the Clarkson game. Facing only three shots in the first could have doomed Clarkie in the second.

I just don't know anymore with this team? Did we give them too much credit at the beginning of the year? I'll go into more detail on this later on the blog for now I'll just head over to Ingalls for their Prep Hockey Showcase.

I have to agree that your team is snake bit. I couldn't believe we came out of that first period without a Quinnipiac goal or two or . . . The lopsided score did not reflect the play in the game.

Lots of hustle on the part of your team. Goalie playing decently. Must be very frustrating. Good luck against UMass.

Really? You must be much calmer or confident than I. I thought Quinnipiac dominated the 1st period and that the game as a whole was pretty even.

I'll concede that they're not taking a lot of "quality" shots, but those "ugly" ones seem to go in for everyone else.

Iles was great at getting the rebounds into the corners. Cornell seemed content to let us shoot at will from the perimeter all game as those shots were either getting blocked or were bad angle. There were a couple of fat rebounds out front that we either fanned on or couldn't get to the puck.

I don't remember a single odd-man rush for Q the entire game, not even a 3x2.
There was one... in the second with it still 1-0 Langlois and Peca came in 2x1. Peca was coming down the right side and took the pass from Langer but his shot went wide far side. It was probably their best scoring chance of the game and it wasn't even close. A goal there probably changes the momentum and who knows what else.

Facing only three shots in the first could have doomed Clarkie in the second.
I can't fault Clarke for any of the 3 goals he gave up. The first one had D'Agostino skating in from the point to the circle unmolested while one of our own guys was screening Clarke. I'm pretty sure he never even saw that one. The other 2 were deflections in front in heavy traffic where it appeared the D wasn't able to get position.

Very Impressive Video Promo for Saturday's TV (NESn-HD & SNY-HD) at 3:30PM:

Good Luck Bobcats!

Oh no! I thought it was at 8. Guess that means I won't be able to watch the game. I'll be covering the Rangers/Flyers game that afternoon.

SNY does know they're supposed to air the game, right? They've got a college basketball game on TV guide at 4pm on Saturday. It's not on tape delay on SNY?

Was informed they won't let me hang it in front of us on the rail as harmless as that is.

I don't know about the hat, but my neighbor came over with a gorgeous Patrice Bergeron Jersey that looked authentic in every detail. Had Reebok tags on it, said made in Canada on it, had all the Bruins logo's, numbers, name plus a Stanley Cup patch. I asked him how much figuring it would be several hundred dollars. Turns out it was a Chinese knock off for $36.00!!!!! If you want an NHL jersey check it out. They even have Whalers Jerseys. I'm thinking Luke will get at least a couple of Black Hawks jerseys as at this price you can't go wrong.

yah , i bought there before

Thats the best cheap jersey site I've ordered , do deals through them twice now and couldnt be happier with my purchases. They're knockoff authentic stitched jerseys but still very good quality.
