Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

INCH has us ranked #16 this week after not playing a week. I think it's more indicative of how bad the rest of the middle of the pack teams did last week. But I'll take it!

You have until 7PM toknight to get your picks in or revise your picks in the ECAC Pick The Standings Contest.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

League play begins tonight. I hope the weekend off doesn't leave too much rust. Then again, Princeton is playing their 3rd in 4 days. If the offense gets off the bus we should be fine. Take it to the Tigers boys!

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

I feel like tonight is a very important game for QU. It would be huge to get that first conference win in your back pocket (against a Princeton team that they should beat). This weekend will be tough against both Harvard and Dartmouth, so getting that win tonight will guarentee that regardless of what happens this weekend, we will walk away from this tough conference start with some points.

I would be very surprised if Clarke isn't in net tonight, but I do think that Hartzell will get another opportunity soon to get off the little schnide he is on. As MarkEagle said, as long as the offense does not show signs of rust after the week off tonight, QU should be able to walk away from this one with a win.

5-2 QU:cool:

Wanna give me this week's lottery numbers? ;)

No rust at all. They came out hard and played half of the 1st a man down due to a couple of 5-min majors. Even came away with a shortie! The Tiger's first goal was after a couple of whacks that Clarke stopped but it looked like the D failed to clear and they netted it on the 3rd attempt. Overall, it was a complete effort by the Bobcats. No success on the PP but they did have several good chances.

Nice way to start league play. On to Hanover and Cambridge and I'll be at both! ;)

Well I will see you on saturday night then Mark. It's been a little while. I apologize ahead of time for bringing any of the residual bad luck that used to follow me around when it came to qu hockey.

Minni look forward to seeing you as well as I will be chauffeuring Mr. EagleUSA to the venue. We'll def make it a point to sit/stand together. You're in for a treat. This team is incredibly fun to watch and certainly shakes down the echoes of Bobcat team's of yesteryear that also inspired a lot of fan confidence.

Sounds like any skepticism Dave may have had was left in the cold confines of Hober Baker rink. ;)

All I can say is he is spot on with his analysis of the Jones' and Peca. All 3 can fly, handle the puck, dish it to the right places and score.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

My daughter and I are heading up to Hanover for tonights game at Dartmouth. The Big Green might be our first real test so I'm looking forward to seeing how the boys handle it and respond. I feel we have a slight advantage since this will be our 10th game while Dartmouth is only playing in their 3rd. That said, it's still going to take a complete effort at both ends and between the pipes.

Tomorrow it's up to Cambridge and Harvard. Somewhere in between all that wonger has asked me to do a write-up for his blog on tonights game.

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

It was a great game for 55 minutes until we ran out of gas and Dartmouth found another gear. Look for a more in-depth recap along with thoughts from Hanover, NH on the blog sometime tomorrow (it's a long ride home).

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

About to hit the road for Cambridge. I fully expect a different result from last night. Let's hope the boys keep their chins up and play a full 60 minutes tonight.

Go Q!

Not what I was expecting. I don't know if they were tired or thought Harvard would be an easy victim but they just did not skate well against the Crimson. Getting out with a tie was a gift.

They had a lot of trouble clearing the zone and there weren't many clean passes when they did. Hartzell did not look confident between the pipes and was shakey when pressured. There certainly wasn't the same intensity they showed against Dartmouth.

It was nice to see Langlois light the lamp again and Peca had yet another point to keep his streak alive. Hibbeler netted the other goal and was one of the hardest skaters all night. The Jones's were their usual all-over-the-ice selves but were also bitten by the puck handling bug that plagued everyone. Perhaps that was all part of Harvard's game plan.

Time to get ready for the north country teams at the Bank with Clarkson on Friday night followed by St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

I take full blame for last night.
Good 'cause we're blaming you regardless! :p

Sorry you had to see that performance because it's certainly not what we've been seeing thus far. I'm sure it was an anomaly and they'll be back to normal this coming weekend. They'd better be or else we could be in for a long season...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Andddd we're back to earth. Back home this weekend too. Good results in Hamden would offset any bad taste left from Hahvahd/Dahtmouth imo.

Great stuff from Mark/Luke on their trips. Never been to Hanover but the Harvard recap took me back to ECAC playoffs over at Bright in 2008. Keep it up fellas.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Hello fans of Quinnipiac Hockey-

I just wanted to quickly touch base with you in regards to the Goals For Good project. In short, it's a competitive goal-a-thon between every team in the ECAC, and every team has partnered with a charity in close relation to their team, school, and or community. We're currently looking for more prizes, but as of now, there is $1,000 on the line going to the local food cupboard of the team that raises the most money. Please check out www.goalsforgood.org to learn more and support your team and their charity by way of their goals and wins.

Thank you,
Kevin McNamara
