Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Would you say in four years that if we haven't been back to Albany or to NCAAs you'd think we needed a coaching change?

Interesting argument, but I don't think we've had a team with as much talent as that Albany team since. If we don't make a trip to the conference semis or the NCAAs within the next 2-3 years then you might hear me start barking. But the point of the matter is the program would be nowhere near where it is today if it wasn't for Rand and his recruiting. Now, the only thing I would like to see him work on is recruiting a little more from the area. We have this expanse of canucks coming in when there is plenty of local talent opting to go elsewhere.

He shouldn't be on the hot seat for at least 2-3 years when these current underclassmen are finishing up. If we haven't done anything by then, then we may need to look elsewhere.

Maybe. It depends how it happens. If its years like this year, where we skate hard but get rotten luck, then no.

If its teams that aren't good enough, then its quite possible.

That being said, I'd be shocked if we were in that position 4 years from now.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

speaking of recruiting, has anyone heard about who's coming in next year?

We are have 6 senior, 1 defensemen and 5 forwards

Could this be the first year in a while we don't bring in a goalie, although I would be surprised if Cadieux or Hartzell didn't transfer based upon how little playing time they have gotten.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

After this year we'll be losing Lampe, Wong, Atkinson, Beaudoin and Holt at forward and Brett Dickinson on D. Sami Limataiinen is listed as a senior, but I believe he will redshirt this year and be granted another year of eligibility. But, I bet everyone involved also believed Dicky would be granted another year and the NCAA wouldn't allow this, so I don't kno for sure about Sami.

We added a ton of Freshmen this year so I doubt we'll bring a ton in but needless to say that is quite the powerful five forwards that we will be losing. They will be hard to replace in a variety of ways.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

The Jones twins play for Vernon Vipers who are in first place in their league right now with one of the Joneses leading the team in scoring and the other not far behind.

Chewy and Hartzell aren't going anywhere.

Rand rules!!!!

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Unfortunately Rand is not leaving the Q anytime soon - Big contract recently signed and the school likes the fact he's been there building a York - Parker type persona! longevity and his image - He can't coach but hes built the program!

Missed opportunity this weekend - Great win on Friday - Needed to capitalize on Saturday - The team needs a huge weekend in Albany - RPI is tough and Union QU is always a battle - Nate and Rand hate each other so it always entertaining

Go 'Cats!

Remember that fight at Union in the handshake line a couple years ago? Then Rand gets on the radio and talks about how a Union kid said something to him... those were fun times.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

i think you can make the argument that Rand has taken the program as far as he can.

If a big name coach was available why not make the change?

I'm not sure there are any "big name" coaches available that we could get even if we wanted to.

As for Rand, I'll ask just one question: how many losing seasons has he had at Quinnipiac?

The ECAC is a tough league. We are no worse off than any other team in the conference. In fact, being the new kids on the block, I'd say we're probably ahead of a few for what we've accomplished in a few short years.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

What does it take for (Cadieux or Hartzell) to get more playing time?

Just for Clarke to not be decidedly better than both of them. Scrivens is the best in the league by far, but after him you can't say anyone is better than Clarke without an argument.

That is not to say things can't change. Goalies can improve A LOT over the off-season. Just look how much better Clarke is from last year.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

any QU students on here who read the chronicle...
What are your thoughts on the article on page 15 "What happened? Men's ice hockey experts weight in on QU's collapse"?
(for those non-students, i will type up the article later for all to read - there are comments from Bill Schweizer, Chris Kostopolous, a few Chronicle staff writers, and the two WQAQ co-sports directors)
