Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Have you stayed in Schenectady Mark or been driving up and back for each game?
We stayed... it's kind of border line in terms of distance to drive it daily. I was hoping Q might have buses which would have been better than driving myself.

Plus, after Friday's marathon, I can't even begin to think what another 6 hrs in the car would have done to me!

Yeah, I hear ya. I've conferred with my contingent, and we'll be in Albany on Saturday if there is a good reason to be in Albany on Saturday. If you know what I mean. :D

Otherwise with most everyone having job commitments, a Friday appearance would be tough.

We will be there regardless. It'll be a whole lot nicer if the Bobcats decide to join us however!

And that's all she wrote. Weird season. Sad to see this senior class go... weird to think that there are no connections left to the Reid Cashman era. Interesting stat... QU has been 1 win from Albany 4 of its 5 years in the ECAC... advancing once. Pretty good first half decade in the league. Time to take the next step.

This team just wasn't consistent enough to go to Albany.

I think a good headline for this senior class is "promise unfulfilled" -- there was so much hope, but they just weren't able to get to where they were in their freshman year. It's definitely disappointing to see this senior class finish without another trip to Albany.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

I'm too stunned to comment on the game right now. Congrats to Union.

I do want to say thank you to our seniors: Lampe, Wong, Beaudoin, Holt, and Atkinson. It's been a pleasure watching you play as Bobcats and I wish each one of you continued success in whatever you futures hold.

If and when i calm down, maybe I'll come back and talk some more about the game. Right now, the incompetence of Hicks and Wahl is just too painfull.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Last weekend at home we had Murphy and for the first two games we thought he had a rotator cuff injury and couldn't raise his arm in spite of mayhem and havoc happening under his nose.
Seems Hicks and Wahl had that problem tonight too. Must be contagious...

All I have to say is thankfully Brown defeated Yale tonight.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

I do have more to say actually after reading other posts.

Thank you to the entire team, especially the seniors for a great season. There were a lot of ups and just as many downs but I don't think I have enjoyed a season nearly as much as this one.
There was tremendous leadership from the seniors, Hansen stepped up along with the sophomores who showed true talent. The freshmen have worked their way into Rand's system and when everyone was on the same page, the team skated beautifully.
I don't think it has hit me yet that this was the last night I got to watch Mookie, Lampe, Holt, Brandon, and Johnny play.
There is no doubt in my mind that their faces will be missed next year and I wish their season could have ended on a more positive note.
It's been a rough year but none of the boys should walk away feeling like they could have done something better.

I'll second this. There is no reason for anyone on this team to hang their head in shame. There were many positives this season, and more to come with what we're returning next year. It was a valiant effort by all.

Thank you Bobcats for everything you did in '09-'10! It's been a pleasure to call myself a fan.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Hey guys-

Great, hard-fought, intense series. I was really impressed with Quinnipiac and you could tell how much both teams wanted it. The officiating was beyond miserable (especially Hicks) but I guess both sides weren't happy with that. Anyway, I was really impressed with Wong, Holt, the little guy (Heichman), Clarke, and others. I can tell Lampe is good but I have to be honest with you when I say that I really don't like the way he plays (but I won't go into it further than that).

Can't say any more. I have absolutely zero problems with the Quinnipiac fan base (I was just as excited as the next guy when they reached #4 in the polls) and I was happy to see a solid number of you make it up to Schenectady this weekend. Tonight's atmosphere was pretty crazy.

Anyway, will any of you be in Albany next weekend despite Q not making it?

Thanks UHM. I think tonight might have been a much better, and much different game had it not been for the Hicks and Wahl show. But you guys certainly earned the series win coming back from Friday's devastating loss.

My daughter and I will be in Albany next weekend. It won't be the same without the Bobcats but I want to experience it just once before it heads to AC.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

I made it over to Messa and sat with the Q faithful. I only interacted with some of you, but it was a good group.

I hope that Clarke continues to improve next season, and the D corps is solidified with some time to work together and buy into Rand's system.

MEUSA, starless, et al, it was nice to meet you, and come back with a vengeance next season.

Nice meeting you too and thanks for the support. It was brave of you to wear those RPI colors into Messa!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

What an up and down season this was. But it was good to see the team finish strong down the stretch with the sweep of Yale and Brown and the hard fought series win over Dartmouth.

Another 20 win season for the Bobcats. That's 10 in the last 12 years...not too shabby.

I'll be rooting for Union next weekend.

All that's left is Men's Basketball for winter sports. It was just announced that Quinnipiac is the #8 seed and will play at Virginia Tech in the first round of the NIT. The game is Wednesday at 7 pm on ESPNU. The winner will play either UConn or Northeastern in Round Two.

That was you!?!?!? Like Mark said, very brave to wear RPI colors into Messa. I was very nice to anyone I saw wearing Quinnipiac gear but I, along with the rest of the Union College student section, booed you as you walked by before the game. Then again, that's what you wanted, right? ;)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Sorry guys.........I thought for sure after that epic game one that you would prevail.

You have a lot to be proud of. You came back well after the losing streak and I know of all the teams potentially going to Albany we were most fearful of having to play you guys.

Like others have posted here although you lost some talented seniors, you had a huge group of new players who now will have a years experience under their belt....and who knows what you might have coming in next year to replace the seniors.

I'd like to say we will exact some revenge for you on Union but we were 0 for 2 against them this year losing both at home and down there. I'm hoping the third time will be a charm but they are a very good and well balanced team with a ton of scoring up front.

Best of luck next year and see some of you in Albany.

As I told the (clueless) U fans that sat in the Q section (What The F?, why would they sit in those awful seats), "I am giving your college money by showing up to Messa, why would you complain?" Also, I would not have booed any Union fan that came to any of the 3 games at HFH last weekend. UC is not a rival of RPI (to me, at least).

The zero opportunities on the PP for Q was atrocious. So was the slashing call against Holt in the 3rd. But, I would have been furious if there was a (non-blatant) call in the last two minutes to give the Bobcats a PP.

Mark, Sorry your team couldn't play in the second half of the season the way it did in the first half.

Denver will play Friday against the winner of Thursday's play-in game between NoDak and Duluth. The other Friday game will be Wisconsin-Saint Cloud.

Something I actually agree with you 100% on. "Promise unfulfilled" is a perfect sentiment for the hope we had for this class to take QU back to Albany and beyond.. instead it felt like QU ran (or skated) in place for 3 years.

Like Fisher, Clark has shown flashes that give us hope, but in the end, when it matters, the QU goalie situation has never been able to step up... except I do give Bud credit for reaching the pinnacle of his career with the epic 3 game performance against Cornell and SLU in the 2007 playoffs. Other than that, I feel the QU goalie situation has held us back from gaining traction toward a next step.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Nice run Q! Yale and Quinnipiac have put New Haven area hockey back on the map nationally and hopefully will lead to more success in the future. I have not had more fun at games since the Nighthawks were in town, see you guys next season.
