Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

I think I heard the Dartmouth goalies groin tear from the concourse
I was surprised to see him stay in the game and even more surprised that Gaudet didn't take him out... he was obviously not right.

how about getting a series winning goal as your first career score.
It was nice to see Ketchum get the goal and allows me to forgive him for the 2 penalties he took.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

YAHOOO! GO Q!

Bring on Union. See you in Albany next weekend.

Good luck guys!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Congrats to Rand Pecknold on his 300th win!!!

Pecknold's career record improves to 300-199-47, making him the 67th coach in NCAA Division I coaching history with 300 wins. Quinnipiac also improves to 19-16-2 on the year, giving Pecknold his 12th year in his last 13 behind the bench with 19 wins.
Not too shabby... maybe he should be fired!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Great job, Q!

I was busy writing about an underachieving professional hockey team. Good to get online to see this.

Go get em at Union! (And glad I'm not longer writing about QU hockey... I'd hate having to write "Schenectady" 20 times over the next week)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

With the series win against Dartmouth, Quinnipiac joins only Cornell as teams to play at least as far as the quarterfinals each of the last five years (Quinnipiac's only five years in the league, which makes it even more impressive). I understand that in only one of those five years QU made it past the quarterfinal round and have never received a bye, but avoided being eliminated in each of their five years in the league is truly a testament to the team. I was bored at work today and compiled a list of how each other ECAC team has faired over the past five years.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Hmm... almost 24 hrs after winning another first round series and this thread is dead! :( Where is everyone!

Hopefully, Fred will jump in here, but has anyone heard anything about ticket availability and/or the possibility of buses to Schenectady this weekend?

KatzManDu, Just back from a three day weekend on the ski slopes with Mrs. Shot. Nice to see your lads came through in the first round of the playoffs. I see that Union is up next for your side. How does the matchup look? How did the teams do against each other in the regular season? I'd appreciate a thumbnail skecth of what each side needs to do to advance. Thanks.:)

The Denvers are getting ready to host the Michigan Techs for the second time in three weeks at magness. As always, I'm looking forward to playoff hockey.

Bring on Union. See you in Albany next weekend.

You guys planning on making the Albany trip already? Stop by Schenectady for at least a couple of games before. :D

Good luck this weekend. Oughta be a fun series!

Union took both games from us this season and each was played in the 2nd half during our "slide". The Dutchmen are a much improved team this year and are certainly worthy of their 3 seed in the ECAC.

I'd appreciate a thumbnail skecth of what each side needs to do to advance.
It's quite simple actually: win 2 games! :p

Q's going to need solid goaltending and defense to tame Union's offense. Our offense needs to get shots on net and keep pressuring. I like our chances if we give a solid effort.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Nice article about Clarkey in the Register and all of it true. He carried the team this past weekend and he'll be the key to winning against Union this coming weekend. I like the confidence in Jean-Marc's quote about riding hot goaltending all the way to the frozen four. I know, I know, one series at a time. But I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to our Bobcats.

My wife and I will be in Ottawa Friday but returning on Saturday and what d'ya know, our return route runs right by Schenectady. We'll be there for game two Saturday and if game three is necessary there are five of us from the B School driving up for that game.

Good luck guys.

Go Q!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

LOVE Rand supporters getting bullish over a very nice 5 game run. They can certainly say they've always had his back though. Granted, I've never questioned his late to post-season credentials.

With due respect, I feel a lot more comfortable going into Achilles than Lynah or Ingalls. Which is not to say this weekend won't be difficult but something's given me the optimism that we may play beyond Sunday. Could be the weather, could be a change in momentum or Dan Clarke's apparent world class goalie prowess, but I like our chances.

Lets go QU.

Personally, I would have preferred Lynah. At least with Cornell we'd know what we were up against (and we know how to win playoff games in Ithaca). ;)

It's all going to fall on Clarke's shoulders. The way he plays will set the tone for the team, and the series, IMHO.

I have to admit that I've found some renewed optimism since the Brown/Yale weekend. The guys have stepped it up a bit and seem to be on the right track.

The kid, her friend and I will be there for all the action! I hope the Q faithful make a good showing in Schenectady!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Any news regarding Zach Hansen's status for the weekend series? I'd feel a lot more confident to know he was going to eat up minutes at the back.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

What an atmosphere in The Bank, tonight. It's hard to tell for sure, but I think tonight's atmosphere for the basketball game was louder than any atmosphere for a hockey game -- even the Yale game -- ever.
