Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Yeah, those spring break student crowds are always tough.

Not to get way ahead of things with QU athletics, and not that I care really about QU basketball, but this problem will be really too bad for the men's basketball team if they make it to the NEC Championship game, which would be on ESPN. With the students on break, could have a poor showing on the national stage.

Dartmouth..... i don't think it is going to be easy!!!!!! What is the thoughts around here???

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

"This game may have been meaningless to the standings but it sure meant a lot to us QU fans. Congratulations to all th QU team for finishing the regular season in such an outstanding effort. My wife and me are in Naples Fl.,and we went to a sports bar. She got the owner to put NESN (QU-Yale) on the largest tv. We had many in the bar cheering for QU, even though they knew nothing about hockey."

This story kicks ***. GO QU! Great day for the whole athletic program.

No, no grammar lessons today!!!! Quite the contrary, I just wanted to say what a GREAT experience (notwithstanding the game results) it was to be at the Yale-Q game Saturday night. Although I fly in for 4 or 5 hockey weekends each winter this was my first time at TD Bank Sports Center. Yours
is an extremely impressive athletics venue. Even MORE impressive (and to my mind) more IMPORTANT was the crowd. LOUD,ENTHUSIASTIC,RAUCOUS......
what a great show of support for your team!!!!
By far, THE most laudable part of the experience was how respectful and fair-minded everyone was! UNLIKE the very negative experience I had
in Madison over New Years Weekend, the Q crowd was the epitome of sportsmanship. The Wisconsin Badger crowd treated us Yale visitors with an endless barrage of taunts, jeers and PERSONAL invectives. Even the no-doubt well-reheased crowd cheers (e.g. the "that's debatable" response to the PA announcement of "the teams are now back at even-strength") were in no way clever or funny, but based in poor- sportsmanship. NONE of that with the Q crowd. Congrats on a well-deserved win and good luck against Dartmouth. Your team and your fans have much to be proud of.

Uh, you know they weren't chanting "Everybody knows, Yale flows!"

But, it was a great atmosphere and a terribly exciting game. Quinnipiac did a tremendous job shutting down Yale's offensive zone possession after the first.

Best of luck against Dartmouth, it'd be great to meet again in Albany. And if there's a game Sunday I just might find my way back to Hamden.

Thanks guys. That was by far the best crowd I've seen at the Bank. I'm not so sure I'd say everyone was well-behaved, but you usually won't hear many derogatory or vulgar things from our crowd. The students may get a little rambunctious at times but other than that I think we have a great crowd most nights.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

The QU Student were great against Yale - But pretty disappointing overall this year - There were lots of Blue seats for Sr night and the past couple of home games no students at all - Lets hope they turn out this weekend but you never know

Why do the students leave early almost every game - they leave before the end of the game regardless of the score?? They need to race down the hill or to the bar? Granted we were killing Brown but the place was empty with 15 minutes left

Why do we have a band and not let them play?? The Brown band blue our doors off!! We need to get rid of the Junior Hockey Music and BS get back to traditional raucous rowdy chants

Dartmouth will be tough - They play us hard and there well coached - i look for this series to go down to the wire - QU In 3

Then off to Cornell to upset the Big RED!! QU plays very well in Lynah

Said the drunken, foul-mouthed, Katz season ticket holder.

;)

And good luck against the Dartmouths.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Considering they need to be off campus by 6 pm Friday for spring break, it's doubtful there will be more than a handful at the games. :(

I seem to remember my senior year... the Union, Cornell, ECAC Championship year... that the opening Union series was that same weekend at the start of Spring Break, and for whatever reason, I have memories of there being a lot of students at those games. I have pictures of a fairly full student section. Though, as you guys have pointed out, this year's students have not attended in the droves that they did a few years ago.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

I think that quinny is going to work real hard against a surging Dartmouth team. They are comming off a sucessfull weekend up north and look like they are gaining some confidence. The Q better be ready game one and work on takeing them out quickly. Do not let them linger or they might suprise you. Their goalie can get hot and make a good showing.

The Bobcats weekend wasn't too shabby in terms of success! ;)

I like our chances at home, even if the crowd isn't going to be anything like last weekend. I'm sure the guys know what's at stake here and I think we'll see more big results from our seniors.

I agree. I think that Q's weekend was a major sucess. They need to follow up with a big preformance in game one to make a statement. They just need to make dartmouth know why they were ranked in the top five once upon a time. I think If they get rolling they could be one of the most dangerous teams out there. if they can put it together like the beginng of the year they will be unstopable in the playoffs.

Now's the time QU will market to others in Hamden, 1500 employees, 1500 summer campers and the 4-5000 students who live 1-2 hours away.

If QU advances to the NEC Championship game I am sure all QU Basketball, Hockey and all other sports fans will be there for this historic night.

It has been really neat to see the Q•YouTube videos of the athletes promoting each others games:
